Kannada Sangha’s Kaveri College of Science and Commerce is recognized by the State
Government and affiliated to the prestigious University of Pune. This is an unaided college
bearing the status of minority institution.
The parent body of the college, ‘Kannada Sangha’ forayed into the field of education four
decades ago. After establishing the brand KAVERI in Pre-Primary, Primary, Secondary and
Junior College, the Sangha has started shaping the Kaveri College of Science and Commerce
to make it one of the best Senior Colleges in Pune.
Founded in 2005, with Bachelor of Commerce course (affiliated to University of Pune) the
college added Science faculty in the year 2007-08 with Bachelor of Science (Comp. Sci.). In
addition to this, in the same academic year three under-graduate courses affiliated to
University of Pune, namely, Bachelor of Business Administration, Bachelor of Computer
Application and Bachelor of Business Management (International Business) were added. In
the year 2011, one post graduate course, namely Master of Science (Comp. Sci.) was added.
Our vision is ‘Excellence in Education,’ and we believe that the only way to achieve it is by
providing the students quality education, excellent facilities and offering numerous
opportunities for holistic and all round development. In addition to this, we give impetus on
exposing the students with real life application of the theoretical knowledge and we
encourage Industry- Institute interaction to keep the students abreast with global changes.
At Kaveri a student plays an important role in the Teaching- Learning process where he
partners and is actively involved. We promote a student-centered approach that provides a
healthy environment to learning.
As of today 689 students have enrolled for various courses run by the college.

Quality Improvement Programme

Under Quality Improvement Programme, University of Pune provides financial assistance for
various programmes / activities / sports equipments / other equipments. Four proposals were
sent for QIP from our college:
1. Three days National Conference from Electronics Department.
2. Two Days State level Conference from Commerce Department.
3. Lecture series for various subjects.
4. For Equipments (Digital Camera and five Personal Computers).
5. For Sports Equipments.
University of Pune sanctioned:
` 50,000/- for -Two Days State Level Conference in Commerce subject.
` 8,000/- for Lecture Series.
` 60,000/- for Equipments (Digital Camera and five Personal Computers)
Under the lecture series we arranged lectures of eminent speakers from Industry and also
from educational field for our students. They are as follows:
Mrs.Shubhada Tamhankar, Asst. Prof. Symbiosis College of Arts and
Commerce delivered a lecture on ‘A quality circle game to understand cost control/
cost reduction’ on 24th
January, 2012 for SY and TYBCom. students.
A lecture by Prof. Upendra Lad, Maharaja Sayajirao College, Malegaon, Nashik
was organized on 11th
Feb, 2012 on ‘DSP and Embedded System Applications’ for
SY and TYBSc. (Computer Science) students.
A two-day State Level Conference on ‘Exploring Commerce Horizon’ was organized on
24th
and 25th
February 2012. The objectives behind organizing the conference were - to
explore and broaden different perspectives in the commerce horizon and to identify the
emerging trends in the field of commerce.
The conference was inaugurated at the hands of Mr. Preetham Parigi MD, ENIL Ltd. and
MD and CEO of Times Infotainment Media Ltd., in the presence of Mr. Kushal Hegde,
President, Kannada Sangha, Mrs. Malati Kalmadi, Secretary, Kannada Sangha and
other esteemed members of the management. The first session on ‘Current Trends in Trade,
Commerce and Industry’ was initiated by Prof. Dr. Prashant V. Sathe, Co-ordinator,

Research Centre, BMCC. The second session on ‘Integration and Application of ICT in
Commerce Education’ was initiated by Dr. Hrishikesh Soman, Principal of Symbiosis
College of Arts and Commerce. The third session on ‘Role of commerce education in
building new age entrepreneurs’ was addressed by Dr. S.V.Kadavekar, Chairperson,
Savkar Chair, University of Pune. On the second day, a panel discussion was held on
‘Increasing employability and skill development through Commerce Education’. It was
initiated by Dr. Ravi Chitnis, Principal, MITSOM along with Dr. Sanjay Kaptan, HoD,
Department of Commerce and Research Centre, Pune, Dr. Ashok Ranade, HoD,
Finance, Bharati Vidyapeeth and Dr. Yojana Karve, HoD, Garware College of
Commerce. The panel members discussed about the use of innovative tools in teaching, for
developing creative thinking, problem solving and soft skills in students.
Staff Academy
Head: Mrs. Anagha Mahajan
Staff meetings are conducted at the end of every month under the Staff Academy Committee.
We have been conducting a unique activity known as ‘Quality Circle’
throughout the year during staff meetings under the able guidance of Dr.
B. D. Chaure. Three teachers give presentations on various topics,
which exhibit different qualities among the teachers such as confidence,
teaching ability, presentation skills etc. After each presentation Dr. Chaure and Dr.
Kharosekar give their valuable suggestions to the respective teachers that definitely help the
teachers to improve their teaching methodology.
Few of the topics presented by different teachers under Quality Circle are ‘We the People-
About Constitution’, ‘Multiple Intelligence’, ‘Meeting Techniques –Six Thinking Hats’,
‘Demand’, ‘Probability and Probability Distribution’, ‘Computer Virus’, ‘Mobile
Communication’ and ‘Data Base Management System’.
Under the Staff Academy a workshop on ‘Isha Yoga Kriya’ by ‘Isha Foundation’ was
conducted for all teaching and non-teaching staff members. Mrs. Shrividhya Krishnan
shared her views, experience and benefits of ‘Shambhavi Mudra’.
In addition to this, after every staff meeting, we have started an informal activity in which
birthdays of our teachers are celebrated. During staff meetings, we also felicitate our teachers
for their special achievements and contributions in academics by presenting them a small
token of love and arranging snacks for all.

Inter-college Paper Presentation Competition in Electronics and Computer Science
The 4th
Inter-College Paper Presentation Competition in
Electronics and Computer Science was organized on 14th
December 2011. The main objectives of organizing this
competition were to keep the students updated, to ignite the
students’ interest in field of research, to develop presentation
skills, communication skills and also to build spirit of teamwork amongst the students. This
competition is targeted at the students of First Year and Second Year BSc. (Computer
Science). The topics for the competition were :
1. Cloud Computing
2. Cyber Crime and Security
3. Advanced Technologies used in Mobile Communication
4. Applications of Embedded systems or Digital Signal Processing
The competition was conducted in two sessions. In the first session, the students presented on
Computer topics and in second session presentation based on Electronics were given. Total
15 groups from various colleges such as M.I.T. Kothrud, MITACSC Alandi, Indira College,
St. Mira’s College for Girls, Tuljaram Chaturchand College, Baramati, and Kaveri College
participated in the competition. Mrs. Chitra Nagarkar, Head, Computer Science
Department, Garware College judged the Computer based topics, while the judge for
Electronics based topics was Dr. Sulabha Deuskar, ex-Vice-Principal, Modern College,
Shivajinagar, Pune.
St. Mira’s College for Girls won the first prize and Indira College of Commerce and
Science bagged second prize.
Inter-college Paper Presentation Competition in Commerce and Management
The 3rd
Inter College Paper Presentation Competition in Commerce and Management was
organized on 14th
December 2011. 10 teams from colleges like Indira College of Commerce
and Science, Garware College of Commerce, Shri. Shahu Mandir Mahavidyalaya, Anna
Saheb Magar Mahavidyalaya and Kaveri College of Science and Commerce participated in
the event.

3. Event Management- A need of every profession.
4. Work Life Balance- India v/s rest of the world.
Mr. Vivek Atre, Social Consultant and Dr. Ashok Soman, Ex-Director SIMS evaluated
the participants. Indira College of Commerce and Science made a clean sweep by winning
both First and Second prizes.
Placement Cell
Head: Mrs. Shweta Bapat
The Placement Cell of the college was formed to guide the students for getting placements
and for preparing them for interviews and various entrance examinations.
Following activities were conducted in this academic year:
1. 22nd
August 2011: ‘Placement orientation and form filling programme’ was
conducted for all third year students. The objective of the programme was to inform
students about the functioning of placement cell, activities which will be conducted
throughout the year, and the placement procedure.
A series of PPT presentations were arranged by the following staff members:
a. ‘Introduction to Placement Cell’ – Ms.Shweta Bapat.
b. ‘Placement Procedure’ – Ms.Sayee Kulkarni.
c. ‘Do’s and Don’ts of Placement’ - Ms.Jayashri Patil.
d. ‘Project Guidelines’- Mr. Anand Buddhikot and Ms. Shefali Sutrave.
Placement Guideline sheet containing rules and regulations, attendance criteria, dos
and don’ts of placements were given all the students.
2. A session on ‘From Campus to Corporate’ was conducted on 30th
August 2011 by
Ms. Rasayani Kamat, Behavioural Trainer, Oracle. She talked about industrial
expectations from students.
3. 8th
December 2011: A workshop on ‘Aptitude Test’ by Mr. A. R. Kulkarni Career
Counselor, Dnyan Prabodhini was organized. Mr. Kulkarni guided the students
about how to crack aptitude test and taught time management skills. He informed the
students about different books available on quantitative aptitude.

1. Patni Computers visited the campus in the month of June 2011, for the placement of
BSc.(CS) and BCA students of 2010-11 batch for Patni iGate. An aptitude test was
conducted. 15 students attended the campus round and 6 students cleared the first
round. No student was placed.
2. The campus drive by WNS Global was organized on 28th
Nov. 2011. 14 students
appeared for the first round of interviews. 9 students were shortlisted for the second
round and 5 students were selected for final placement. They are given letter of intent
and ` 1.4 lakhs per annum is the salary offered to them.

in Cummins College of Science. 4 students from BSC and BCA appeared for aptitude

4. On 21st Dec.2011 campus drive by Persistent Systems was organized. 9 students
appeared. 4 students were shortlisted, but as per requirement of immediate joining,
these 4 are on hold. (They can contact in Apr/May 2012 if requirement exists).
5. Another pooled campus drive by Wipro – Wase and Wipro WiSTA was conducted
at Cummins College of Science on 18th
Jan 2012. 9 students from BCA and BSc.
(CS) appeared for aptitude test, 2 students were selected for second round and 1
student was selected for final placement.

The excursion committee organizes industrial visits for all BBA and BCA students and staff
members.

The total manufacturing process was shown to all the staff members and were offered
finished products at a discount of 50%.
2. Schreiber Dynamix Dairies Ltd.
A presentation of all production processes were shown and sample products were
given.
3. Vidya Pratishthan Campus.
Various units and central library of Vidya Pratishthan were shown. A meeting of all
the staff members was arranged with Dr. Arun Adsool, Principal, Vidya Pratishthan
and ex- Pro Vice Chancellor, University of Pune.

1. Mahindra and Mahindra
The industrial visit commenced by the company
presentation in which the background and different
products of Mahindra and Mahindra were shown. The
officials showed the assembly line of the automobiles. The
making of Mahindra Max Pick up vehicle through semi
automatic assembly line was shown to the students. Mr P. D. Chavan, Official from
the Production Dept. answered the queries of the students.
2. Parle –G
The students visited Parle –G, in Vile Parle, Mumbai. They saw the actual biscuit
making process on the factory floor. The students could witness the actual making of
Parle Cheese lings and Confectionaries (Melody and Chox chocolates) followed by an
exhaustive presentation in the form of an animated cartoon film. Mr. Vijay Jadiyal
conducted this session.
3rd
February 2012 (for SYBCA)
1. Volkswagen India Pvt. Ltd.
Volkswagen Group India is a part of Volkswagen AG, which is globally represented
by 9 brands The students were able to witness body line and assembly line which is
fully automatic and based on total German technology, the total robotics application
was shown to SY BCA students along with presentation and a question answer round.
2. Glass Fibre Industries Pvt. Ltd.

Glass Fibre Industries was established in the year 1989 with one focused ambition to
become the best provider of fibre products in India. It manufactures products like
Amusement park ride, Water park slide, Mobile Toilets, Domestics and Industrial
components and also the boxes used to protect missiles like Aakash, Milap etc.
Students were greatly inspired by the owner of the company, Mr. Ram Satav.
Although, Mr. Satav has received formal education only till 4th grade, nevertheless he
is instrumental in designing all the products for the company.

February 2012 (for FYBBA and FYBCA)
1. Mother’s Recipe
Mother’s recipe produces pickles, papad, pastes, ready to cook and ready to eat
products. The students observed the working of- the pickle processing plant, paste
plant, bottling section, packaging section, papad section, cleaning section, general
stores and dispatch section. Mr. Syed Fasihuddin, GM Projects, showed manual as
well as automatic packaging lines.
2. Universal Construction Equipments Ltd
Universal Construction Equipments Ltd manufactures construction equipments. Mr.
Nitin Bhosale from the training department gave a presentation about the company, its
plants and corporate structure. The students saw the construction equipment park
where all products were on display. They were taken around the main shop floor to
see the manufacturing of large-scale concrete mixers and sand filters.

Vocational Guidance Cell

Vocational Guidance Cell of our college supports the students’ in the
progression of their academic pursuits by providing them with
information on various career opportunities. Following guest lectures
were organized for the final year B.Com, BSc.(CS), BCA and BBA
students in the academic year 2011-12.

Science Association

The Science Association of our college was inaugurated on 10th

Dr. K. C. Mohite, Dean, Faculty of Science, University of Pune and Principal H.V. Desai
Arts, Commerce and Science College Pune in the presence of Mr. Kushal Hegde,
President Kannada Sangha, Mr. B. Baburao, Treasurer Kannada Sangha and Dr. B. D.
Chaure Administrative Officer, Kannada Sangha.
Dr. K.C. Mohite made all students aware of innovations and creative
research in Science. He informed the students about a novel research
project competition named ‘Avishkar’. This activity, unique in its nature,
is being implemented through Board of College and University
Development, University of Pune. He also discussed various innovative projects and patents
carried out by students under Avishkar.

Attendance of the students in lectures has always been a very pressing issue in all the
colleges. We have been trying our best to address this issue and thus at the beginning of the
academic year we chalked out a plan to increase the attendance of all classes. Following are
some important steps taken in this academic year to address the attendance issue.
Dr. S. B. Kharosekar, Principal addressed the students of all classes of BSc. (CS) and B.
Com. from 24th
August to 26th
August 2011.He restated the importance of attending lectures
regularly and also informed the students about how regular attendance in the lectures could
bring difference in their overall personality.
On 27th
Aug. 2011 a parents meeting for all F.Y. classes was held. Around 80 parents
attended the meeting. Dr. B. D. Chaure, Administrative Officer, Kannada Sangha,
addressed the parents. Principal Dr. S. B. Kharosekar addressed the parents by sharing his
experiences.

Some suggestions, which were given by the parents, are:
1. The parents could be informed about activities like seminar, workshop etc. by mail or
SMS which are conducted in our college.
2. Counseling unit could assist the parents.
3. Monthly attendance report of their child could be sent by post.
4. Security should be made strict so that the influence of people outside the
college could be avoided.

Soft Skill Development Programme
Head: Mrs. Muckta Karmarkar
All of us are aware of the importance of Soft Skills in today’s competitive world. The world
is changing and is changing very fast. One may be hard working, diligent and thorough
professional, but one needs to have a range of added skills to be able to glide across
departments. The need of the hour is to learn these skills before entering the real world. In
view of this we have been conducting Soft Skills Development Programme (SSDP) for the
past four years. This year SSDP was held in the college from 1st Aug to 10
th Aug 2011
The workshop was inaugurated at the hands of Mr. Kushal Hegde, President, Kannada
Sangha Pune. Mrs Indira Salian, Vice- President Kannada Sangha Pune, graced the
occasion as Guest of Honour.
The main objective of the workshop was to prepare the TY students to face the real world.
The workshop aimed at honing their Soft Skills and Communication Skills to make them
employable. Lectures on How to face interviews, Do’s and Don’ts of GD and Decision
Making were arranged. Students understood the need to prepare well for the interviews. They
also received rich knowledge about the importance of Corporate Protocol, Office Etiquette,
Email Etiquette and Dining Etiquette.
The lecture on Stress Management and Yoga helped the students to unwind from their day-to-
day tight schedules and made them aware of the ill effects of stress. The yoga pradhyapaks
personally demonstrated important yogic asanas.

Gandhi urged the teachers to create thirst in the students, thirst for knowledge; he advised the
students to take advantage of such workshops and develop themselves for the industry. The
students were asked to give a feedback on the entire session.
BBA Club
Head: Mrs. Shweta Bapat
This year, the BBA department of the college started a new initiative called- BBA Club. The
objective of BBA club is to make students more confident and presentable through various
management learning techniques. Module of the BBA club was designed by taking into
consideration the expectations from the students while doing MBA.
The club is open for all the students doing BBA course from FY to TY. The club activity is
conducted once a week. The club is divided into three parts. First part of the club focuses on
the Power Point Presentation done by the students. Second part relates to advertisement
analysis of various products. And the third part relates management games.
A group of four students give a PPT presentation on an already assigned
theme. ‘National or International Institutions Supporting Business’ was
the theme in the first semester. Students gave presentation on WTO, LIC,
IRDA, ILO, NABARD, and RBI. In the second semester the theme given
was ‘Public Sector Companies’, in this, students presented on Indian Airlines, ONGC,
SAIL etc. Under advertisement analysis section students bring different advertisements of
various companies; these ads include the ads from various categories like public service
advertisements, non-product advertisements, brand advertisements, celebrity
advertisements, and surrogate advertisements etc. Students present their analysis of the
advertisement. This is followed with discussion and deliberation. Third session is an informal
session consisting of management games. Through this the students learn various key skills
like professionalism, creativity, decision making, how to solve bottlenecks and listening
skills.
Kaveri Katta
Head: Mrs. Muckta Karmarkar
Kaveri Katta is a unique initiative undertaken by the college to increase the sharing of
knowledge, to enhance communication skills and to make each and every participant think
beyond the regular framework of classroom teaching and syllabus. This activity also helps the
Kannada Sangha’s Kaveri College of Science and Commerce Annual Report 2011 – 12 Page 16
students to present a particular point/topic in a structured form after
collecting their thoughts throughout the week. After participating in the
Katta meets, the students understand that knowledge increases when we
share it. ‘Kaveri Katta’ is a place where an enthusiastic bunch of
students from BCom., BBA, BCA and BSc. (CS) meet every Thursday
from 4:30pm to 5:30pm at the College’s stilt to listen and freely discuss matters which
interests them and the issues on which they would like to debate. The weekly Katta sessions
revolve around all kinds of topics.

Situated on the fifth floor of the college building, our college library also has a reading hall
with a seating capacity of approximately sixty students.
The library has added 1221 books in the academic year 2011-2012 and now there are total
5607 books in the library. Library has subscribed to 48 magazines and journals for staff and
students. Library subscribes to 12 daily newspapers in both Marathi and English. To assist
our staff and students, we provide newspaper clipping files for reference on numerous topics
like career development, higher education etc.
The library has a fully computerized system for book acquisition and issuing for staff. From
this academic year, staff and students are issued computerized I-cards.
Saraswati Pooja was celebrated on 5th
October 2011 in the library at the hands of Principal
Dr. S. B. Kharosekar. A book exhibition of newly purchased books and donated books was
organized on the occasion of Saraswati Pooja. All teachers and non-teaching staff members
attended the pooja ceremony and the book exhibition.
The library received 46 books as donation from Dr. B. D. Chaure, Administrative Officer,
Kannada Sangha and Mrs. Malati S. Kalmadi, Secretary, Kannada Sangha, Pune.

National Service Scheme

Following activities were undertaken under NSS.
1. The formal orientation programme was conducted on 15th
August 2011. It included a
speech by Dr. S.B.Kharosekar, followed by a documentary titled ‘Azadi Se Jiye’ by
Shiv Khera.
2. NSS Unit of our college started its activity this year with the organization of a cultural
programme, named ‘Malhar Avishkar’ in August 2011. Fifty volunteers of our
college largely managed this programme.
3. In September 2011, volunteers participated in the ‘Career Advancement Workshop’
conducted by Spicer College, Aundh.
4. On 30th
September 2011, NSS Day was celebrated in the college. Volunteers actively
took part in the exhibition that was arranged to showcase different aspects of NSS.
Akshay Bendre, SYBBA, exhibited a life like model of an adopted village.
5. A donation drive for celebrating the ‘Joy of Giving Week’ was carried out by the
volunteers wherein students and staff members of the college donated clothes to St.
Crispin’s Home.
6. NSS volunteers took part in large numbers in ‘Ahimsa Yatra’ arranged by Gandhi
Bhavan, Kothrud on the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti.
7. To commemorate the birth anniversary of Swami Vivekananda, several programmes
were conducted under the name ‘Yuva Saptah’ by the NSS Unit from 12th
to 18th
January, 2012. Mr. Rajkumar Kadam, Head of the Department, Department of
English, Vidya Pratishthan Arts, Science and Commerce College, Baramati
inaugurated the function. Mr. Kadam shared some anecdotes from Swamiji’s life and
his thoughts on building the nation through youth in a talk titled ‘Swami
Vivekananda and Today’s Youth’.
8. On 13th
January, 2012, an Elocution Competition based on the theme ‘Swami
Vivekananda – Youth Power’ was organized by the unit. Mrs. Muckta Karmarkar,
Lecturer in English, Mrs. Deepa Sathe, Lecturer in Commerce and Mr. Anand
Buddhikot, Asst. Programme Officer-NSS, judged the competition. Sayali Joshi from

9. To increase the awareness about the literature available on the teachings of Swami
Vivekananda, a book exhibition was arranged on 16th
January 2012. Around 400
books in English and Marathi on the life and teachings of Swamiji were on display.
The exhibition witnessed an enthusiast response from the students and staff members
of the college.
10. On the last day, a Blood Donation Camp was organized in the college. It received a
very good response, 68 donors came forward for the noble cause.
11. Apart from the regular activities, NSS Unit also conducted a Special Winter Camp
at Markal, Tal: Khed, Dist. Pune, from 30th
November 2011 to 6th
December 2011.
50 volunteers participated in the camp. The camp was inaugurated at the hands of
Shri. Shankarao Bajirao Lokhande, Vice President, Shri. Keshavraj Shikshan
Sanstha, Markal. Shri B Babu Rao, Treasurer, Kannada Sangha graced the
occasion as Chief Guest. Dr. S. B. Kharosekar, Principal, guided the volunteers to
plan and work in the direction of ‘Sustainable Development’.
The theme for this year’s winter camp was ‘Sustainable Development of Village’.
The volunteers undertook activities like exposure about the National Service Scheme,
clearing unwanted construction material in the school premises and decorating the
college premises. A cleanliness drive was carried out and ground leveling was done in
the college premises. The volunteers constructed a bandhara on the water stream,
under the able guidance of agriculture unit authorities of the area Mr. Babar
(Agriculture Supervisor) and Mrs. Padekar (Krishi Sahayak). This has helped the
villagers to increase the ground water level. The faculties of the college, Mrs.
Jayashree Bangali and Mrs. Muckta Karmarkar provided valuable guidance to the
village students on Career Planning and Personality Development respectively. The
volunteers carried out a survey in the village. The survey included social, cultural,
educational and financial aspects. On the last day of camp volunteers organized a
Prabhat Pheri, highlighting various social and environmental aspects in association
with the villagers. Shri. Kailas Dnyanoba Lokhande, Upsarpanch, Markal village
inaugurated the valedictory function. The volunteers arranged a cultural programme
with the tiny tots of the village kindergarten during the function. Mrs. Malati
Kalmadi, Secretary, Kannada Sangha graced the occasion as Chief Guest in the

13. NSS girl volunteers participated in the ‘Value Education Workshop’ organized by
Huzurpaga Girls Commerce College.
Student Welfare
Student Welfare Officer: Mrs. Anagha Mahajan
Students’ Welfare Committee of our college contributes to the academic success, personal
development and well being of students.
Under this section the college submitted four proposals to Board of Students’ Welfare,
University of Pune, three proposals obtained sanction.

Earn and Learn Scheme
Karmaveer Bhaurao Patil Earn and Learn Scheme has been initiated in the college since
the last academic year. The objectives of this scheme are to develop
interest in the young minds to be self-reliant and to build dignity of
labour. 9 students took benefit from this scheme. They contributed
their services in the office, library, gymkhana and placement cell section.
Students’ Council
A students’ council committee was constituted on 12th
Oct. 2011 for the composition of
students’ council of the college for the year 2011-12. A meeting was arranged on 15th
Oct.
2011 for the same.
Under the provision of section 40(2) (b) of the Maharashtra Universities Act, 1994,
Students’ Council was constituted. As per university directives a meeting of students’ council
was conducted on 17th
Oct. 2011 in the Seminar Hall. Ms. Smruti Birmal, SYBCom. was
unanimously elected as the secretary of Students’ Council of our college.
Women’s Personality Development Workshop
A one-day Women’s Personality Development Workshop on the theme ‘Empowerment of
Women’ was conducted on 21st Jan. 2012. The workshop was inaugurated at hands of Mrs.
Kannada Sangha’s Kaveri College of Science and Commerce Annual Report 2011 – 12 Page 21
Asha Deshpande, Vice President, All India Women’s Conference. The workshop was
conducted in three sessions.
In the first session, Dr. Ujjwala Barve, Head, Department of Communication
and Journalism, University of Pune addressed the girls on the importance of
‘Career Planning’. The second session was conducted by Ms. Razia Patel,
Head, Minority Education Cell, I.I.E., Pune she spoke on ‘
’. She threw light on the pressing need of imparting
education to women. She also stressed on empowering women through
education. The third session was conducted by Dr. Swati Shirawadkar,
Professor and Head, Sociology Department, University of Pune on ‘Women
in era of Globalization: Are we empowered?’ Dr. Shirawadkar made the girls realize the
importance of getting empowered.
Anti Ragging Committee
As per directions of Hon’ble Supreme Court of India on measures against
ragging in educational institutions, we have formed Anti Ragging Committee

Our college is a center for organizing various activities sponsored by Bahishal Vibhagh,
University of Pune. Bahishal Shikshan Center of the college and Bahishal Shikshan
Mandal, University of Pune jointly organized Dr. Babasaheb Jaykar Lecture Series on

December, 2011. Mr.B. B. Rao, Treasurer, Kannada Sangha, Mr.
Ramdas Acharya , PRO, Kannada Sangha, Dr. S. B. Kharosekar, Principal, were
present during the inauguration ceremony.
The first lecture of the series was delivered by Prof. S. M. Tamboli, Lecturer in English,
Marathwada Mitra Mandal’s College of Commerce. He talked about the
importance of the communications skills in day-to-day life and explained the
qualities of an effective speaker by reciting and explaining a poem ‘Dekhane
te’ by an eminent Marathi and Konkani poet Balkrishna Bhagwant Borkar.

The second lecture in the series was an instant hit when Ms. Ujwala Kulkarni, renowned
standup comedy artist, presented her program ‘Hasyaranjan’, the students, staff and the
management members enjoyed the programme and had a full belly laugh. Mrs Kulkarni
entertained the audience by her quick wit and hilarious jokes and japes.
Prof. Maruti Yadav, writer, poet and actor, delivered the third lecture. He narrated
humorous anecdotes and stories from well-known writer and orator Acharya Atre’s life. Prof.
Yadav started the lecture by paying tribute to his guru late principal Dr. Shivajirao Bhosale.
He not only used stories, poems and sher-o-shayri to amuse and entertain the audience but
also asked students to learn from humour.
Debate and Elocution

Our students showed incredible performance this year in Debates, Elocution and Short Story
Writing competitions.
1. Samrat Kadolkar, TY BCom and Rajeev Galgali, SY BCom., participated in ‘Kalyan
Karandak Intercollegiate Debate Competition.’ organized by Trinity Institute of
Management and Research and won First Prize. They won a splendid rolling
trophy and ` 5000/- cash. The topic for debate was ‘Can India survive the heat of
global economic recession?’
2. Samrat Kadolkar, TY BCom. and Gayatri Rohit , TYBBA
won, a consolation prize at ‘Late Shri Shankarrao Wakalkar
State Level Debate Competition’ organized by Indira College of
Science and Commerce. They spoke on ‘Social Networking- A
Boon or a Bane’. Gayathri also won a prize for Best Speaker.
3. Samrat Kadolkar participated in an elocution competition organized by Bank of
Maharashtra and won third prize. The topic was ‘Green India, Clean India’
4. Ms. Amruta Kale, SY BCom. won third prize in ‘Pracharya S.V. Chirmule Inter
College Short Story Writing Competition’ in Marathi organized by MES Garware
College of Commerce.

Late Dr. Shamarao Kalmadi Memorial State Level Elocution Competition
The Debate and Elocution Committee had a major task up its sleeve this year
of organising the first ever Late Dr. Shamarao Kalmadi Memorial State
Level Elocution Competition. The Competition was a tribute to Dr. Shamarao
Kalmadi, our Co-founder. Although this was the first year of the competition,
nevertheless, we received an overwhelming and awe inspiring response from
almost all over Maharashtra. Total 50 contestants from different colleges like Pune, Baramati,
Inadapur, Lonavla, Bhor, Jalgaon, Shirur, Daund,Shrirampur, Nashik and Mulshi participated
in the competition. Out of 50 participants 11 contestants presented in English and 39 in
Marathi. The participants shared their views on different topics in Marathi and English.
Topics for Elocution were:
1. Effects of computer age on social health.
2. Commercialization of sports.
3. Female foeticide – a social sin.
4. Science and Spirituality-a path to all round development
5. Tolerance of we Indians is a roadblock for growth and development of our country.
The competition was inaugurated at the hands of Mr. Kushal Hegde, President Kannada
Sangha Pune. After the inauguration, lots were drawn to decide the sequential order of the
contestants. The participants were provided breakfast, lunch and tea. After the regular round
of elocution, Impromptu competition was held. 15 participants participated in this
competition. Each participant was given 2 minutes to speak. Prizes worth ` 500/-, ` 300/- and
` 200/- were given to the first, second and third participant respectively.
The prize distribution was done at the hands of Prof. Milind Joshi, Chief Secretary,
Maharashtra Sahitya Parishad. Ms. Chaitali Acharya from Pratibha College of
Commerce and Computer Studies, Chinchwad was declared as the first prize winner.
The winner bagged an impressive rolling trophy, ` 5000/- cash prize, memento and a
certificate. Mr. Vaibhav Godse from Prof. Ramkrishna ACS College and Ms. Pallavi
Bhandari from Sinhgad Institute’s S. K. N. C. College were declared as first and second
runners-up respectively. They won ` 3000/- and ` 2000/- cash prizes respectively, in
addition to memento and certificate. All the participants received certificate of participation.
Dr. Shirish Chindhade, Dr. Ramesh Awalgaonkar, Dr. Rajendra Shah judged the
competition.

The competition provided a platform for the students to participate in intellectual, social,
spiritual and scientific discussions. The competition also helped the students to hone their
oratorical, persuasive and leadership skills.
Women’s Forum
Chairperson: Mrs. Suchismita Mohanty
The college constituted the Women’s Forum in the academic year 2011-12. It was formed
with an objective of shouldering social responsibility by way of addressing issues related
women.
1st October 2011: A seminar on ‘Women’s Rights’ was organized for
the female teaching and non-teaching staff members of Kaveri Group of
Institutes and girl students of our college. Around 125 participants
participated in the seminar.
The forum and seminar was inaugurated at the hands of Mrs. Pushpa
Hegde, Convener, Poona Women’s Council and former President, National Council of
Women in India in the presence of Mrs. Malati Kalmadi, Secretary, Kannada Sangha.
Mrs. Hegde appreciated the positive step taken by the college towards activities related to
women empowerment. Mrs. Kalmadi, requested the speakers to help in the formation of a
proper structure to the forum.
Three guest speakers provided information and initiated deliberation on three different areas
related to Women’s Rights.
1. Ms. Neelima Mysore, Advocate talked on ‘Domestic Violence Act’. She clarified
various types of domestic violence and acts related to the same and the procedure to use
the Acts. She urged that the women should come out of the ‘Cindrella Syndrome’.
2. Ms. Sonia Nagarale, Assistant Professor Department of Law, University of Pune,
delivered a lecture on ‘Rights of Women in Indian Polity’. She provided important
information regarding women’s role in polity. She informed the audience about
representation of women in Indian polity.
3. Dr. Mrs. Jyoti Bhakare, Reader, Department of Law, University of Pune, delivered
a lecture on ‘Women’s Property and Inheritance Rights’. She stated that today’s
women even if are well educated; are ‘legally illiterate’. This is reflected in the fact that
women’s property share is mere 2% worldwide.

Each lecture was followed by a question and answer session, which received tremendous
response from the audience.
Kaveri Alumni Meet
In Charge, Alumni Forum: Mrs. Suchismita Mohanty,
The first-ever alumni meet of the Kannada Sangha’s Kaveri College of Science and
Commerce was held on Monday, 26th
December 2011. The meet was inaugurated at the
hands of Mrs. Indira Salian, Vice President, Kannada Sangha in the presence of Mrs.
Malati Kalmadi, Secretary, Kannada Sangha. Mr. Uday G. Shetty, Jt. Secretary,
Kannada Sangha, Mr. Chandrahas Shetty, Trustee, Kannada Sangha and Dr. Balajith
Shetty, Trustee, Kannada Sangha, were the other members of the Management who graced
the occasion.
In his welcome speech, Dr. S. B. Kharosekar, Principal of the
college clarified the objectives behind having the alumni forum. In
an hour-long informal discussion with ex-students, he threw light
on the bye-laws and other requirements for the constitution of the
forum.
More than 50 ex-students from all batches and all streams attended the meet. Some of the
alumni came forward to express their feelings and also made some suggestions for the further
development of the college. They were Charles Valentine, Neha Deshmukh ,Sayali
Deshpande and Mugdha Dutta from 2010-11 Batch, Rohan Acharya, Heramb Marulkar and
Ashima Ghatpande from 2009-10 Batch and Shulmith Elijah from 2008-09 Batch.
Mrs. Malati Kalmadi, Hon. Secretary, Kannada Sangha in her address expressed her
satisfaction on finding the mission of the institute being accomplished. She mentioned that
the college has been able to impart the right direction and inculcate true values among its
students.
Dr. Balajith Shetty appreciated the enthusiasm and dedication shown by the ex-students for
the college. He put forward suggestions for the development of the forum.

1. Kaveri College of Science and Commerce initiated Diploma in
Experiential Learning under the Kaveri Group of Institutes in the
year 2011-12. Ms. Malati S. Kalmadi, Secretary, Kannada
Sangha and Mr. Vishwas Parchure, the Academic officer of the
course addressed the teachers of the Kaveri Group of Institutes on

July 2011. More than 30 participants attended the inauguration
ceremony, which was followed by a lecture delivered by Mr. Vishwas Parchure.
2. It has been observed that a large number of students studying in higher secondary and
degree colleges are getting addicted to smoking, alcohol, tobacco
chewing, substance abuse and hukka etc. Therefore, we felt necessary
to take an initiative to bring awareness into the students regarding the
ill effects of addiction. A lecture on ‘Addiction and Health’ by Dr.
Anil Awachat, founder of Muktangan Rehabilitation Center, Pune
was organised on 9th
August, 2011. Dr. Awachat shared and discussed his real life
experience about addicted people with the audience. He informed the students about
the ill effects of addiction on the physical and mental health of an addicted person. He
narrated real stories of his patients that had great impact on the audience. More than
400 people including students of Junior and Senior College, Principals and staff
members of Kaveri Group of Institutes attended the lecture. Kannada Sangha
Management Members- Mr. Kushal Hedge, President, Mrs. Indira Salian, Vice-
President, Mr. B.B.Rao, Treasurer, Mrs. Radhika Sharma, Trustee, Mr. Ramdas
Acharya, PRO and Dr. B.D. Chaure, Administrative Officer graced the occasion.
A question and answer session was conducted at the end of the programme, which
received an overwhelming response both from the students as well as from the
dignitaries.

1. Orientation Programme: The orientation programme was organized for first year
students. Mrs. Malati Kalmadi, Secretary Kannada Sangha, Dr. S.B.Kharosekar,
Principal and Mrs. Suchismita Mohanty, Vice-Principal addressed the students.
2. Independence Day Celebration: Independence Day was celebrated on 15th
August 2011
in the school ground.
3. Purshottam Karandak: Kaveri College participated in Purushottam Karandak on 20th
August 2011. The drama ‘GAAV-GUNDI’ based on forced acquisition
of land holdings of farmers was written and directed by our own student
Kuldeep Dagade from SYBCom. 15 students participated in the drama.
Tejas Badve, FYBCom. who played the lead role of Shiva received a consolation prize
for his acting acumen.
4. Ganapati Festival Celebration: Ganesh Chaturthi was celebrated with pomp and gaiety
on 1st and 2
nd September 2011. The installation of Ganapati was done with a traditional
‘dhol-tasha pathak’.
5. V. Shantaram Karandak: The team of ‘GAAV-GUNDI’ performed the drama for V.
Shantaram Karandak and won the award of ‘Vishay – Lakshavedhi Puraskar’.
6. Sakal Karandak: Our college drama team participated in ‘Sakal Karandak’. The
drama, ‘Shaidee’ was a comedy of confusions in a village set up. The director of the
drama- Kuldeep Dagade, SY BCom. received first consolation prize in the acting-
category and Saurabh Durafe, TY BCom. received first prize for Best Music .
7. Republic Day Celebrations: In association with the Junior College we celebrated the
observance of Republic Day 2012. Shri. K. Jayprakash Hegde, Former Minister in
Govt. of Karnataka hoisted the tricolor.
8. Firodiya Karandak: On 30th
Jan 2012 our college
presented a drama, ‘Tumchi Goshta’ at ‘Firodiya Karandak’
directed and written by Kuldeep Dagade. Total 30 participants
from Junior and Senior college participated in it.

YUVA SPANDAN 2011- 12
1. Traditional Day: Traditional Day was celebrated on 22nd
December
2011. Mr. B.B.Rao, Treasurer, Kannada Sangha and Ms. Radhika Sharma,
Trustee Kannada Sangha judged the students who had come in their traditional
best. The titles Mr. Traditional and Ms. Traditonal were awarded to Mr.
Sagar Kolapkar, SY BBA and Ms. Gayathri Rohit, TYBBA respectively.
Amongst the staff members Mr. Traditional was awarded to Mr. Ravindra Bhalerao
and Mrs. Preetibala Ingale clenched the Ms. Traditional title.
2. Retro Day: Retro Day was celebrated on 23rd
December 2011. Mr. Kushal Hegde,
President, Kannada Sangha and Mrs. Malati Kalmadi, Secretary Kannada
Sangha judged the participants. The students and staff members enthusiastically
participated by dressing in retro style. The titles Mr. Jitendra and Ms. Hema Malini
were awarded to Mr. Kumar Charwad,TY BCom. and Ms. Manasi Karmarkar, SY
BSc. respectively. Amongst the staff the title Mr. Jitendra was awarded to Mr.
Anand Buddhikot and Ms. Hema Malini was awarded to Ms. Pallavi Kulkarni.
On 27th
December, YUVA SPANDAN 2011-12 was officially inaugurated at the hands of
Principal, Dr. S.B.Kharosekar and Vice-principal, Ms. Suchismita Mohanty. Following

1. Inter College Photography Competition
A theme based Photography Competition was organized for amateur
photographers keeping in view the growing interest of the young
generation in the art of clicking pictures. The themes of the
competition were ‘Common man’ and ‘Humor’. The competition was judged by Mr.
Sarvesh Rajpathak from Fergusson College, Pune. Sixteen students from various
colleges participated in the competition. Anant Agarwal from Symbiosis Law
School and Devika Newaskar from Dr. Kalmadi Shamrao Jr. College ,Pune,
won the first and second prize respectively.
2. Inter College Street Play Competition
This year we added Street Play Competition to the already rich
texture of Yuva Spandan bouquet. The competition was conducted
on the theme ‘Inflation’. As it was the first ever competition of its
kind, we received a lukewarm response. The competition was

judged by Mr. Deepak M. Mandekar, District Secretary, Bharat Dnyan Sanstha.
Modern Law College bagged the first prize of ` 3, 000/- along with a trophy and the
second prize of ` 2,000/- with trophy was clenched by B.M.C.C.
3. Rock Band Competition:-
The Rock Band competition was inaugurated at hands of Hon. Trustees, Mr. A. S.
Alva, Ms. Radhika Sharma and Dr. Balajith Shetty. A large crowd thronged to
watch six enthusiastic and energetic teams, which performed live. Well-known bands
namely Brahmaputra, Saturn, Eternity, Qafia, Redefined and Odd-Heads participated
in the competition. Band ‘Qafia’ bagged the first prize of ` 5000/- cash, a memento
and certificate, while Band ‘Redefined’ received the second
prize. The contestants were judged by renowned bandleaders
Mr. Salil Gupte, freelance drummer and Mr. Rohan
Pusalkar, music enthusiast and businessman.

December 2011:
1. Inter College Quiz Competition
Fourteen teams from various colleges participated in the Inter College General Quiz
Competition. Five teams were selected for the final round after a written elimination
round. The final round consisted of 3 sections i.e. MCQ, Audio-visual and Buzzer. Mr.
Keyshor Mor and Mr. Aditya Gurav from Dr. Shamrao Kalmadi Jr. College won
the first prize. Karthik Krishnan and Karthik Bhujbal from Modern College of
Engineering were declared the runners up.
2. Inter College Caricature Competition:
To tickle the creative brains, an Inter college Caricature Competition
was organized during ‘Yuva Spandan’. 16 entries were received from
different colleges. The topic for competition was ‘Breaking News’. The
competition was judged by Mr. Charuhas Pandit, the co-creator of Chintoo, a
popular comic strip. The winner of the competition was Mr. Pratik Gaware from
Kaveri College and the second prizewinner was Mr. Pradeep Dolas from Abhinav
Kala Vidyalaya.
3. Intra College Singing Competition
Nine students participated in the competition for solo and duet
performance. Mrs. Rajashri Mahajani, Music teacher, Dr,
Kalmadi Shamarao High School, Primary Section and Ms.

Madhuri Karambelkar, Music Teacher at SPM School judged the competition. In
solo category, the first prize was won by Gayatri Rohit, TY BBA and second prize
by Bhagyashri Deshpande. In Duet category, Hemant Kumar, TY BCA and
Swapnil Mishra, FY BCA won the first prize while Smruti Birmal, SY BCom.
and Akshata Hegde, FY BCom. bagged the Second prize.
4. Inter College Fashion Show
Inter college fashion show competition was inaugurated by Ms.
Indira Salian, Vice president and Mr. Ramdas Acharya, Public
Relations Officer, Kannada Sangha. . Ms. Manjiri Pendharkar, a
renowned Costume Designer and Ms. Namarata Goud, Director, Viva Beauty
Clinic and Training Institute, Pune, judged the participants for best group award.
The themes of the competition were ‘Traditional/Wedding’ and ‘Rainy /winter’. Mr.
Sanchit Joshi from MIT college and Ms Pooja Pilankar from MITSOM College
were declared Mr. Yuva Spandan and Ms. Yuva Spandan 2012 respectively. Indira
College of Commerce and Science won the first prize for best group and bagged the
cash prize of ` 5000/- and second prize was clenched by Garware College, Pune.
Five teams from various colleges participated in the competition.

December 2011
1. Flower Decoration and Rangoli Competition
To bring out creative talent in students, flower decoration and
rangoli competitions were organized. Ms. Pushpa Hegde, convener,
Ikebana study group judged the competition. Ashwini Dixit, TY
BCom. won the first prize in Rangoli Competition. Ms. Manasi
Karmarkar, TY BSc. won first prize in Flower Arrangement competition.
2. Exhibition
An exhibition for guests and parents was organized between 4 and 5:30 pm on the
same day. It showcased the entries of Photography, Caricature, Poster Making,
Rangoli and Flower arrangements competitions.
Annual Social Gathering
Dr. S.B.Kharosekar, Principal addressed gathering and reviewed the
various events organized under Yuva Spandan. Students performed
various art forms like dhol-tasha, folk dance, salsa, lavani and
contemporary. Rahul Shinde, TY BCom. and Ms. Sanjali Naik were declared Mr.

Kaveri and Ms. Kaveri respectively.
From 27th
to 29th
December, 8 stalls were arranged for serving best, hygienic and quality
food to the audience. Yuva Spandan 2011-12 was a huge success because of total
participation of students, staff and alumni.
Awards and Achievements
1. Kuldeep Dagade – participated and performed in a professional drama, ‘Me ani
Galib’. He played two roles i.e. Nandan and Shagird.
2. Sarvesh Mehendale, SY BCom. – performed as Madari and Dilerkhan in a
professional drama, ‘Garudzhep’. Sarvesh is also shortlisted as one of 25 trainees in a
workshop out of 60 students. The workshop is organized in joint association called
‘T-School” of Naralkar Institute and Prashant Damle Foundation.
3. Pooja Thakur & Mayura Juvale from SYBCom. are the team members of theatre
group Sankraman Sanstha. Pooja plays the role of ‘MAI’ and Mayura performs as
‘KAKU’ in the drama, ‘Ata Pass’ directed by Mr.Yatin Mazire. The team of ‘Ata
Pass’ won many competitions and various karandaks, i.e. First prize in Raj Karandak,
First prize in Sushil Karandak, Sholapur, Second Prize in V.Shantaram Karandak
organized by Mayboli Sanstha ,Pune, Second Prize in D.Y.Patil Karandak organized
by D.Y.Patil College, Mumbai. This drama was also shortlisted for the final round of
Tihai Karandak. Pooja & Mayura were also seen in a short role in one of the episodes
of Marathi serial, ‘Suvasini’ which was telecasted on Star Pravah on 14th December
2011.
4. Saurabh Katti, SY BCom. – Won a Gold Medal at ‘Global Cultural Olympiad’ at
Bangkok. He performed solo -‘Tritaal’ on Tabla. He participated in the instrumental
senior category (age group 18-21 years). Over 350 Indians were selected from all over
India for this competition. ‘Akhil Bhartiya Sanskrutik Sangha’. Akhil Bhartiya
Sanskrutik Sangh ( ABSS), organized this competition in which artists from all over
the world came together under one shelter to showcase their talents & explore the
Cultural Unity .
5. The office bearers of Yuva Spandan 2011-12, Mr. Kumar Charwad, President, & Ms.
Shruti Dalvi, Vice-President, were awarded ‘Event Manager of the Year’ award at the
Sports and Dance Meet organized by the National Institute of Event Management on
23rd January 2012, for their unique contribution made at Yuva Spandan. In all 14
colleges were chosen for the award.

Our team participated for the first time in this game, and they reached quarterfinals.
They lost the quarterfinal by 2 goal difference to Mitsom College.

Eleven- member team participated in 100m, 800m,4x100m relay, shot-put, discus
throw, javelin throw. In 4x100m relay our team stood 4th
.
12. Invitational Inter college Football Tournament
Ten-member team (7+3 substitutes) participated in 7 a Side Football match in Sports
and Dance Meet an Inter College War organized by National Institute of Event
Management. In this meet our college team secured 2nd position.
Annual Sports
The college annual sports competition was held from 13th to 19th January 2012. Six games,
i.e, chess, table-tennis, volleyball, football, basketball and athletics competition were
included in this competition.

Discipline Cell
Head: Mr Arvind Chavan
In order to maintain discipline in and outside the college among the students, teaching and
non- teaching staff, a disciplinary committee has been set up in the college.
The basic objectives of the committee are to maintain overall discipline in the
campus, to create an atmosphere of decency by prohibiting smoking and other
unhealthy practices within the college campus and to create a sense of
punctuality and social responsibility. The committee enforces punishment in the form of fines
and temporary expulsion for non-compliance of rules and regulation.
Besides this, the committee makes surprise checks to classrooms and corridors as and when
necessary.
Grievance Redressal Cell
Head: Mr Arvind Chavan
To realise the primary needs of the students and staff and secure civil liberties for everybody,
a Grievance Redressal committee has been constituted in the college. The
committee is responsible to find solutions for problems like sexual
harassment – any kind of physical or mental harassment, complaints
regarding class room teaching – Class room management, completion of
syllabus, teaching methods etc. The Grievance Redressal cell holds meetings
periodically and takes steps to redress the grievances.
Student Health Care

According to directives of ‘Students Health Service Scheme’ University of
Pune, medical check up is compulsory for the first year students. For this
work a student’s health care committee is constituted .This committee assists
in the sound implementation of this scheme. Two medical officers are
nominated by the college for medical checkup of boys and girls students. Medical

examination of all the first year students of under-graduate and post-graduate levels is
completed before 31st October every year. Final report is submitted to University office by
15th December. This scheme can extend financial help to those students, who are found
seriously ill during the medical checkup by the medical officer.
Publicity Committee

The publicity committee of the college works for building the brand name
Kaveri in the educational sector. A press release of each and every activity
which takes place in the campus is sent to 40 Marathi and 20 English
newspapers with photos through Patrakar Bhavan. I am happy to share that
our college has received very good press coverage from Maharashtra Times,
Sakal, Pudhari Indian Express, Lokmat etc. in the past one year. A press conference was
organized by the college where Mr. Kushal Hegde, President Kannada Sangha, Mrs. Malati
Kalmadi Secretary Kannada Sangha and Dr.S. B. Kharosekar, Principal addressed the
pressmen to inform them about Late Dr. Shamarao Kalmadi Memorial State Level
Elocution Competition.

1. To elevate the academic standard of the college and to make the college one of the
best colleges in the jurisdiction of University of Pune.
2. To get the college registered under Section 2(f) and Section 12(B) of the U.G.C. Act,
1956 to avail financial assistance under various schemes.
3. To get the college assessed and accredited by National Assessment and Accreditation
Council, Bengaluru during 2011-12.
4. To elevate the college from Degree Level to Post Graduate Level and then to
Research Level.
5. To conduct autonomous short term courses for the college students in addition to the
regular courses offered to them so as to make them employable. Some courses on the
cards are Tally, animation photography, fashion designing, computer aided fashion
designing, hotel management, travel and tourism, mass communication and
journalism. The college also plans to conduct a certificate course in English for
teaching and non-teaching staff of the college.
