Last day of Term 3

Practice Examinations

These took place last week. Senior reports will be sent out at the end of the term. These reports do not include subject teacher comments as teachers provide students with detailed feedback and advice when they go over these assessments.

NCEARemember students can keep up to date with their credits for NCEA by visiting the NZQA website and using their NSN and self-generated password. It is here that students obtain their examination results so it pays to become familiar with using the site before the external results arrive.

Advance NoticeSenior Prizegiving will be held on Friday 1 November at 10.30am.

CURRICULUM NEWS

Recently, Lime Scooters have been introduced in Hamilton. We draw your attention to the following rules and conditions for use.

Lime Scooter users must: • Be over 18 years and older • Wear a helmet • Abide by all traffic laws • Not ride down steep hills

• They ride at their own risk • Be the only person on the

scooter • Respect the ride.

Students who meet this criteria are not permitted to wear school uniform while riding a scooter. As users ride at their own risk we encourage parents to speak to their daughter about safety and appropriate use of the scooter.

Also, to ensure they know and understand all traffic laws. The school does not condone any other student using this service. Student behaviour that does not meet the school’s expectations will be addressed in line with the school’s discipline process.

If you have any queries please contact the school.

LIME’S HAVE ARRIVED!

The National Centre for Religious Studies, the Centre for Science and Citizenship and The Nathaniel Centre wish to understand young people’s thinking about some significant issues of our times. To do this, they are inviting all Year 13 students in Catholic schools across the country to take part in a short, anonymous online survey called “What Is Your Stand?”

Each question in the survey outlines a particular issue and asks the student where they stand on this issue. They are then asked to provide reasons for their stance. The results of the surveys will be used to improve the national Catholic Religious Education Curriculum.

The results will also provide insights into the ways that young people are responding to the world in which they find themselves and the ethical issues that arise here. The survey is the first step of a larger project in which the researchers will explore (via focus groups) how young people are conceptualising and navigating the ethical challenges with which they are confronted.
