After a major US acquisition, our client was ranked in the top 160 companies on the Forbes Global 2000 list. As a result of the acquisition, we were appointed to evaluate the current footprint of their operations center properties of a particular use type to determine how to best consoli-date into larger regional hub locations to achieve the following objectives:

> Reduce space utilization, incorporating cultural improvements through work-space design and standards

> Improve quality of existing facilities

> Enhance visibility and presence in critical locations

> Ensure facilities met or exceeded environmental standards

SERVICES

Our alliance team implemented a five step optimization strategy that included:

> Development of Greenfield location study to optimize minimum number of sites required to meet client’s response time goals

> Evaluation of current facility conditions, including location, operational and physical characteristics

> Program Management for development of prototype building design and space standards

> Financial review and prioritization of potential solutions based on client’s macro objectives

> Implementation of new prototype standards and begin transaction process for “NPV positive” locations

RESULTS

> By utilizing a Greenfield approach and highly sophisticated logistical mapping technology, our client was able to identify a potential savings of 29% in the number of required locations.

> Development of site prototypes resulted in the creation of new company-wide design standards

> Identified four initial f projects that could result in net present value savings of almost $20 million. As the project was implemented, we identified additional savings through reducing space require-ments and decreasing building costs.
