Sustainability is top-o-mind globally or nearly every business large and small. This is
perhaps most evident in the real estate industry where sustainable building practices
have the opportunity to make a denitive diference in our uture. We at Colliers
believe that going green is not only good or the environment, its good or business.
Sustainability, or green building, makes economic sense. A recent cost-benet analysis
revealed that the initial costs o building green are only two percent higher than
traditional building costs roughly $4 to $5 per square oot. Yet, the nancial return
over 20 years was ten-times higherbetween $49 and $65 per square oot. There isno doubt that sustainability is playing an increasingly important role in the commercial
real estate industry. A maority o commercial property investors now agree to pay
more to invest in a building with sustainability potential. Colliers International has been
taking maor steps in advocating the concept and applicability o green buildings around
the world. This is natural or us as we are on a platorm o specialized knowledge.
Thats what our clients look or when they work with us. Some o our recent initiatives
include the development o The Colliers International Sustainability Task Force and the
release o Go Green - Protable Construction or the Green Age ; Indias rst exclusive
report highlighting the signicance o sustainability in the Indian Real Estate sector.
Colliers International has partnered with World Vision to help communities lead a
better lie. Through this initiative, the Colliers International team in India works with
World Vision on a number o proects with the key obective o making a diference
to the uture o underprivileged children. Besides the monetary contribution, Colliers
International has committed to spend one ull day in a year to undertake a specic
community proect across all its oce locations in India. One o our rst community
proect was in the orm o a one- day activity where members o Colliers International
visited a nearby public school to spend time with underprivileged children and engaged
in the construction and maintenance work or the school premises. This initative
was undertaken across all our key oce locations on the same day. Another recent
initative undertaken with World Vision was called Plant a Tree where members o
