COLLINGSWOOD PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH SERVICE FOR THE LORD’S DAY
November 11, 2018 25th Sunday after Pentecost
ASSEMBLE IN GOD’S NAME
Morning Reflection In the security of your love, mighty God, it is well with us. You are the builder in whose hands the church can become a community of joy and fulfillment. You keep watch over us,
strengthening us to be the church wherever we live and serve. Be known to us now and save all who eagerly await your word.
Amen.

Call to Worship Leader: To you, O Lord, We lift up our soul; People: In you we trust, O our God. Leader: Show us your ways, O Lord, teach us your paths; People: Guide us in your truth and teach us, for you are God our Savior, Leader: Our hope is in you all day long. People: Guard our life and rescue us; Leader: Let us not be put to shame, for we take refuge in you. All: May integrity and uprightness protect us, because our hope is in you. *Hymn - “My Hope Is Built on Nothing Less” GTG #353 tune - Solid Rock *Prayer of Confession Compassionate God, we have strayed from your fold, pursuing the desires of our own hearts, rather than listening to your voice. When you have called us home, we have run away instead. In your mercy, forgive us. Draw us back unto yourself by your Spirit, that we may love you with undivided heart, and our neighbors as ourselves, to the glory of the one who loves perfectly, our Master and Teacher, Jesus Christ. * Words of Assurance
Leader: This is our assurance: God forgives us. People: This is our hope: God's love is everlasting. Leader: This is our truth: God is with us always. People: We will speak the truth; Leader: we will live the hope; People: we will share God's mercy. Thanks be to God. Amen.
*Congregational Response - “Rock of Ages, Cleft for Me” GTG #438 tune - Toplady Rock of Ages, cleft for me, let me hide myself in thee. Let the water and the flood from thy wounded side which flowed be of sin the double cure, cleanse from guilt and make me pure. *Sharing of the Peace Leader: The peace of Christ be with you. People: And also with you.
PROCLAIM GOD’S WORD
Children’s Call - “Come All Ye Children” All children are invited to come play drums during the song Children’s Sermon
Anthem - “Sing a New Song to the Lord” by Natelie Sleeth Chancel Choir Old Testament Reading - Isaiah 58:10 (page 675) *Hymn - “Let Us Build a House“ GTG #301 tune - Two Oaks New Testament Reading - Matthew 25:31-40 (page 904) Meditation - “Getting off the Streets” Ruth Morgenroth - Executive Director, IHOC
RESPONSE TO THE WORD
*Affirmation of Faith - Apostle’s Creed I believe in God, the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth, And in Jesus Christ His only Son our Lord; who was conceived by the Holy Ghost, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead and buried; He descended into hell; the third day He rose again from the dead; He ascended into heaven, and sitteth on the right hand of God the Father Almighty; from thence He shall come to judge the quick and the dead. I believe in the Holy Ghost; the holy catholic church; the communion of saints; the forgiveness of sins; the resurrection of the body; and the life everlasting. Amen. Offering
Our giving is invited because we need this discipline as much as programs need our support. Our giving is expected because
we cannot truly worship God without giving concrete expression to our gratitude. Our giving is a joy to us because we have known the
comfort and strength of a faithful God in whose love we can live confidently in all times and places.
This is the high point of our worship.
Musical Meditation - Instrumental *Doxology - “Praise God, from Whom All Blessings Flow” GTG #606 Praise God, from whom all blessings flow; praise him, all creatures here below; praise him above, ye heavenly host; praise Father, Son, and Holy Ghost. Amen
Please join us in the Lounge for coffee and fellowship time.
Prayer of Dedication Prayers of the People Leader: The Lord be with you. People: And also with you. Leader: Prayers of thanksgiving, intercession, petition
All: Our Father, who art in heaven, Hallowed be Thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For Thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.
GO IN GOD’S NAME
*Hymn - “Amazing Grace, How Sweet the Sound” GTG #649 tune - Amazing Grace *Choral Benediction *Postlude - “Luke and Leia” by John Williams
