Well, here we are again in the wonderful month of February—the month for candy hearts, chocolates, flowers, Valentines & the Super Bowl. The month when Cupid comes to sweep you off your feet. It is a time when you need to think about and appreciate everyone you come in contact with.
So, too, it is with The Colony Club of Ocean City. It is a time to think about and appreciate every member of our dynamic Colony Club. We have seen highs and lows and currently we are seeing highs!! We are our own Super Bowl!
We are in need of one (1) position for next year. You will be associated with a dynamic board. This very important position is—1st Vice President. You can do it!! Volunteer from the heart!!!! Call Phyllis Bonner to discuss your interest—Cell# 215-817-4673
The Colony Club in conjunction with the Exchange Club is co-sponsoring the Ocean City Historical Museum's Children's Tea on February 13, 2016. Our names are on the tickets as Co-Sponsors—another great community service. Several of our members volunteer to assist that day. If you are interested in attending or volunteering call the Historical Museum @ 609-399-1801 for details. Achievement Day is Wednesday, April 27, 2016 and held at the Greate Bay Country Club. It is a wonderful way to show off your talents in so many different categories. Contact Angel Smith @ 609-501-8304 for Conservation and Phyllis Bonner @ 215-817-4673 for Arts Creative. Also, if you are interested in attending this very worthwhile day, please let me know and I will give you the details. We will honor our 7 new members during our March General Meeting but please take note—because of room availability, our March meeting/Covered Dish Dinner on WEDNESDAY, MARCH 23, 2016, 6:00 PM will be held in the Howard S. Stainton Senior Center of the Ocean City Community Center, 17th & Asbury Avenue, OCNJ. We need someone to step up and take the lead to organize this event. June Peterson volunteered to provide the table decorations. Think about volunteering to organize the food to be brought to this dinner—very simple task. Just call or email me at [email protected] to indicate your willingness to step up and lead this event.
The yearly reports have just been sent to the Federation members. We submitted 14 reports and hope to be recognized for at least one. We’ll see the results at Convention.
I do whatever I can to keep our wonderful Club together and to avoid any sense of division or negativity. I reach out to you with my most favorite verse from scripture. It happens to come from a portion of 1 Corinthians 13: 4-8. continued on page 2

JANUARY Literature RE-CAP
January's meeting was attended by a small group. However, we had a lively exchange regarding the heroine of, I Wish You Happy Forever. Different opinions regarding the feasibility of bringing the thoughts that each girl was important and shouldn't be left in an orphanage. As always, the discussion became somewhat animated…but we all agreed we enjoyed the book!

Love is patient and kind; love is not jealous or boastful; it is not arrogant or rude.
Love does not insist on its own way; it is not irritable or resentful; it does not rejoice at wrong, but rejoices in the right. Love bears all things, believes in all things, endures all things. Love never ends….
Don’t you just love The Colony Club of Ocean City? Step up, volunteer, do what needs to be done. Candy hearts, chocolates, flowers and valentines will be at your doorstep!
HAPPY VALENTINE’S DAY!

Red Solo Cup & Federation Benefit Red Solo cups have long been distributed and have served as collection containers for tabs from soda, beer, vegetable, fruit, cat & dog food cans—anything with a pull tab. All districts have been collecting these to benefit the Ronald McDonald House. Keep saving your tabs and bring them to the meetings!

ConnectionsTech Tip
Do you send text messages? Do you use
emojis to enhance your messages? if you answered… then, check out Bitmoji Keyboard. If you are thinking…that bitmoji on the right looks suspiciously like the editor of this newsletter, you are correct! A few clicks and an <almost> look-alike avatar will convey your thoughts! You too can have fun designing your avatar (I chose Bitstrips) &…add your quick thoughts, affirmations to your text messages. Bitmoji keyboard is available for both and Android users.
Caveat: Whenever you use a different keyboard such as emoji or bitmoji your information is readable by the maker of the app. So, if you plan to send that smiley face or that avatar…don’t send sensitive information along, such as telephone#s, SS#s, you get the picture. Have FUN!
