Color Schemes with Warhol   

             

Andy Warhol was an American artist who was a leading figure in the visual art movement known as pop art. His works explore the relationship between artistic expression, celebrity culture and advertisement that 

flourished by the 1960s.  

Objective: To create a Warhol inspired painting using a simple image and four different color schemes   

Color Scheme #1: Primary Colors Only  

 

Color Scheme # 2: Complimentary Colors  

 

Color Schemes #3: Analogous Colors (3) 

 

Color Scheme #3: Triadic Colors 

 

     

Procedures:  1. Choose a simple object to draw. Create 3 thumbnail sketches 2. On your 12x18” paper create a grid of 4 boxes 

a. each box should be 5x5 inches   

   

    

 

 3. Draw your image very lightly in each box… do your best to make each box look the same 4. Plan out your colors and paint  5. Write your artist statement  6. Complete Rubric (online mrsholmesartclasses.weebly.com)
