FROM THE ARTISTIC DIRECTORWelcome to our exciting winter/spring season, full of magic and awe!

The first stop is Cinderella, a classic fairy tale that demonstrates dreams can come true, especially with the help of a fairy godmother. Choreographed by Ben Stevenson, O.B.E., Cinderella features Prokofiev’s score played live by the Colorado Ballet Orchestra. Our extraordinary dancers will bring this romantic and humorous tale to life on the Ellie Caulkins Opera House stage.

We close the season with our spring repertory, Ballet Director’s Choice. Every year, so many people tell me that our spring repertory production is their favorite performance of our season. This production includes Traveling Alone, choreographed by Amy Seiwert; Edwaard Liang’s Feast of the Gods; and the

world premiere of The Last Beat, choreographed by Sandra Brown. Ballet Director’s Choice highlights the artistry and athleticism of our dancers. This highly innovative and entertaining production is sure to excite dance fans of all ages.

Renovation is still underway at our new home, located at 11th and Santa Fe., and this will be the first time in our 53 year history that we will own our rehearsal and Academy space. We purchased the building early last year and we plan to move in mid-2014. Our building will provide more rehearsal space and amenities for our artistic staff and dancers as well as a black box theater for small performances and events. We will continue to present our performances in the Ellie Caulkins Opera House and the Newman Center for the Performing Arts. The new location will also have more studio space for the Colorado Ballet Academy and the increased space will allow us to offer more classes for children and adults. Additionally, this new space will help us to increase our community outreach, but we need your support to keep this project moving. It is such an exciting time for Colorado Ballet. We have just finished a record breaking run of the Nutcracker, construction on our new building is underway and our academy is in full swing with an enhanced summer intensive program. The spring productions start with the classic fairytale, Cinderella, the perfect ballet for all ages and one that will make you believe in “happily ever after.” We end the 2013-2014 season with Ballet Director’s Choice, a collection of three innovative works including two of our favorite contemporary productions and a world premiere ballet. If you attended Giselle or The Nutcracker, we thank you for being a part of this fantastic season. These final two productions show the tremendous diversity of talent that we have at Colorado Ballet. From the classics to the contemporary, we hope to show off our dancers’ versatility as well as provide a variety of programming for our audiences.

As Co-Chairs, we are honored to be a part of Colorado Ballet’s ongoing momentum. Under the leadership of Gil Boggs and his artistic team, Colorado Ballet enhances the cultural life of our community by producing the highest quality dance in the region while bringing out the “dancer” in each of us.

Through the Colorado Ballet Academy, we encourage the love of dance in students of every age. Children as young as three can enroll. And Academy students have the opportunity to audition for roles in several professional productions each year—including The Nutcracker. The Academy also offers a wide range of adult dance classes including ballet, pilates, jazz and tap. The Colorado Ballet Academy not only teaches dance, it encourages the love of dance in every student.

Still, not all Coloradans have the opportunity to experience the magic of excellence in dance. That’s why the Colorado Ballet’s outreach department provides the opportunity for in-need students, teachers, family and individuals with disabilities to take dance classes and attend season performances. With your support, we impact nearly 60,000 individuals every year.

Artistic StaffGil Boggs, Artistic Director

Gil Boggs began his dance career with the Atlanta Ballet. He joined American Ballet Theatre in New York in 1982 and was promoted to soloist dancer in 1984 and principal dancer in 1991. Boggs was a member of the company for 17 years. Boggs also performed with the Twyla

Tharp Dance Company, Baryshnikov and Company, Nureyev and Friends, and made several guest appearances around the world. During his career with ABT, he was recognized as both an accomplished virtuoso and one of the company’s most popular performers. Boggs has

worked with numerous noted choreographers, including Agnes de Mille, Sir Kenneth MacMillan, Paul Taylor, Mark Morris, Jerome Robbins and Merce Cunningham and has an extensive performance repertoire of both classical and contemporary works. Boggs accepted the position of Artistic Director with Colorado Ballet in the Spring of 2006. In Boggs’ tenure with Colorado Ballet he has restaged full-length productions of Swan Lake, The Sleeping Beauty, Giselle, Don Quixote and Coppelia along with adding new full-length productions of Romeo & Juliet, Le Corsaire, Beauty and the Beast and Peter Pan. Boggs has also presented 14 world premieres and 12 Colorado Ballet premieres by such renowned choreographers as Twyla Tharp, Lar Lubovitch, Antony Tudor, Val Caniparoli, Dwight Rhoden and Lynne Taylor-Corbett.

Artistic StaffLorita Travaglia, Ballet Mistress

Lorita Travaglia is originally from New Zealand. She received her ballet training at the National School of Ballet and later the Royal Ballet School in London. Lorita made her debut as a professional dancer with the Berlin Ballet. After six years with the Company, she moved

to the United States where she worked with Princeton Ballet, Boston Ballet, Atlanta Ballet and International Ballet Rotaru, dancing solo and principal roles in a wide range of repertoire. Her favorite roles include Odette/Odile in Swan Lake, Swanhilda in Coppelia, Cinderella, Sugarplum Fairy in The Nutcracker and Paquita. In 1992 Lorita returned to New Zealand, but continued to perform as a guest artist with companies in the United States as well as Company Z, a contemporary dance company in New Zealand. Lorita began teaching in 1988 while still performing and studied the Vaganova methodology. She was the principal teacher for a professional training program in Auckland, New Zealand and later, as artistic director of Canyon Concert Ballet in Fort Collins, Colorado, she set up a similar aspirant program. In 1999 Lorita joined Colorado Ballet as director of the Apprentice Program and company repetiteur, and has been ballet mistress since 2006. Her choreography includes Equanimity, Aspects and Pictures at an Exhibition for Colorado Ballet II and a full-length The Nutcracker for Canyon Concert Ballet. Lorita graduated from the Colorado School of Traditional Chinese Medicine in 2000 and has a private practice in Denver.

Adam Flatt, Music Director & Principal Conductor

After making his company debut in 2006, Adam Flatt was invited to become Music Director of Colorado Ballet beginning in the fall of 2007. He has been part of the musical scene in Denver since 2001 when he joined the Colorado Symphony as Associate

Conductor. At the CSO he led over 250 concerts in an acclaimed five-year tenure. Adam also served a seven-year tenure at the helm of the Denver Young Artists Orchestra, leading the orchestra at home in Denver, on international tours, and at special events including the opening festivities of both the Ellie Caulkins Opera House and the Newman Center at the University of Denver. In addition to his work here at Colorado Ballet, Adam is also music director of regional orchestras in Oregon and Alabama. Also a busy guest conductor, he has led performances with orchestras all over the United States and productions for the major ballet companies of Portland and Salt Lake City. Adam Flatt has his bachelor’s degree with honors in music from the University of California at Berkeley and his master’s degree in instrumental and opera conducting from the Indiana University School of Music.

Catherine Sailer, Associate ConductorCatherine Sailer, Director of Choral Studies at the University of Denver, conducts the Lamont Chorale, Lamont Women’s Chorus and the Evans Choir. She is also the Associate Conductor of the Colorado Ballet Orchestra. Conducting credits include the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra and

Chorus, Northeastern Pennsylvania Philharmonic, Santa Fe Symphony Orchestra, Beijing Symphony, National Symphony, Musica Sacra Chamber Orchestra, National Opera of China, Cabrillo Festival of Contemporary Music, National Symphony Orchestra, Orchestra of St. Luke’s, Central City Opera Chorus, Dale Warland Singers, Kansas City Chorale, Chicago Symphony Chorus, Oregon Bach Festival. She was the winner of Chorus America’s Robert Shaw Conducting Fellowship.

Sandra Brown, The Last BeatSandra Brown joined the corps de ballet of American Ballet Theatre in 1987 under the directorship of Mikhail Baryshnikov. Brown was promoted to soloist in 1992 and she remained a soloist until 2003. Brown’s leading roles in ABT’s repertoire include Juliet in

Romeo and Juliet, Gamzatti in La Bayadere, Swanhilda

in Coppélia, Mercedes in Don Quixote, Myrtha and the Peasant Pas de Deux in Giselle, Polyhymnia and Calliope in Apollo, the Accused in Fall River Legend, the first girl in Fancy Free, An Episode in His Past in Jardin aux Lilas, Valencienne in The Merry Widow, and the Cowgirl in Rodeo, as well as leading roles in numerous contemporary ballets. Brown also holds the honor of appearing on Broadway as the original Louise Bigelow in the Tony Award-winning 1994 revival of Carousel, directed by Nicholas Hytner and choreographed by Sir Kenneth MacMillan at the Lincoln Center Theater. In 2003, Brown left ABT to pursue work as a freelance artist with Complexions Contemporary Ballet, Stiefel and Stars, Vladimir Malakhov, Peter Boal and Company, Chamber Dance Project, Dancers Patrelle, Ballet Hawaii and Madison Ballet. During this time, she was asked to perform as a guest artist at the Vail International Festival. In 2005, Brown taught for the ABT Summer Intensive and choreographed the ballet, Synchronicity. In 2006, she joined her husband, Gil Boggs, to work with Colorado Ballet as Ballet Mistress. Since then, she has assisted staging the full-length productions of Giselle, Christopher Wheeldon’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream and Don Quixote. She has assisted with the choreographing and staging of The Nutcracker, Coppélia and Swan Lake. She also assisted Lar Lubovitch in the staging of Smile With my Heart and Twyla Tharp’s In The Upper Room. Brown restaged her ballet, Synchronicity, for Colorado Ballet’s Studio Company. In 2007, she was asked to stage Smile with my Heart for the Joffrey Ballet. In 2013, she staged Lynne Taylor-Corbett’s Great Galloping Gottschalk at the University of South Carolina. In 1989 and 1990, she was chosen by Mikhail Baryshnikov to choreograph for the American Ballet Theatre Choreographic Workshop. Since 2007, she has choreographed for the Bal de Ballet, an event hosted by the Denver Ballet Guild. Brown’s ballets include From Within, Crimson Surges, Unforgettable, Grand Pas Fantastique, Heart Strings, One by One, Set Fire to the Rain and The Secret Garden.

Edwaard Liang, Feast of the GodsEdwaard Liang was born in Taipei, Taiwan. He was raised in Marin County, California, and began his ballet training at the age of five at Marin Ballet. In 1989, Mr. Liang entered the School of American Ballet. He joined New York City Ballet in the spring of 1993, and that same year he was

a medal winner at the Prix de Lausanne International Ballet Competition and the Mae L. Wien Award. He was promoted to Soloist in 1998. Mr. Liang danced with NYCB until 2001, when he joined the Broadway cast of Fosse, performing a leading principle role. In 2002, Mr. Liang became a member of acclaimed Nederlands Dans Theater 1, where he danced, choreographed and staged ballets. After returning from Holland, Mr. Liang returned to New York City Ballet from 2004-2007. Mr. Liang has also performed as a Guest Artist with varies companies like the Norwegian National Ballet and Complexions. Edwaard Liang has choreographed a number of works. Starting with Nederlands Dans Theater 1 workshop, Flight of Angels, which has since been staged for

many companies. Mr. Liang was invited to do a piece for the 2004 New York Choreographic Institute and choreographed a piece for the opening Cedar Lake Dance Company. Mr. Liang’s Distant Cries, danced by NYCB Principal Dancers Peter Boal and Wendy Whelan, was premiered to rave reviews from the New York Times for the Joyce Theatre, New York City Ballet Gala, and City Center. Edwaard Liang has since choreographed ballets for many companies and projects such as New York City Ballet, Kirov Ballet, Pacific Northwest Ballet, Joffrey Ballet, San Francisco Ballet, Shanghai Ballet, Washington Ballet, Hubbard Street 2, National Ballet of Novosibirsk, Singapore Dance Theatre, Guggienheim’s Works and Process, Morphoses the Wheeldon Company. Mr. Liang was named one of the “TOP 25 to Watch” for 2006 by Dance Magazine for choreography, winner of the 2006 National Choreographic Competition, and invited to be a part of the 2007 National Choreographers Initiative. Mr. Liang was featured in the New York City Ballet Workout book and its accompanying video and Richard Corman’s book of photographs “Glory”. Mr. Liang’s television appearances include the nationally televised PBS Great Performances broadcast “Dance in America: From Broadway: Fosse,” which has subsequently been made into a DVD. He is the winner of the Prince Prize for choreography and the Choo San Goh Award for Choreography. He also has been nominated for one Golden Mask Theatre Award in 2008 and nominated for three in 2010.

Amy Seiwert, Traveling AloneAmy Seiwert enjoyed a nineteen-year performing career dancing with the Smuin, Los Angeles Chamber and Sacramento Ballets. As a dancer with Smuin Ballet she became involved with the “Protégé Program,” where her choreography was mentored by the late Michael Smuin. She

became Choreographer in Residence there upon her retirement from dancing in 2008. Her work is in the repertory of Washington, Atlanta, Oakland, Louisville and American Repertory Ballets as well as BalletMet and Robert Moses KIN. Named one of “25 to Watch” by Dance Magazine, her first full evening of choreography was named one of the “Top 10” dance events of 2007 by the SF Chronicle. Twice she has worked with dancers from New York City Ballet, participating in the NY Choreography Institute at the invitation of Peter Martins. She also directs Imagery, a contemporary ballet company that collaborates with artists of other disciplines and is committed to experimental work from a classical base. Viacheslav BuchkovskiyViacheslav Buchkovskiy was born in Ukraine. He began his training at Kharkov State Choreography School in 1990. In 1995, Buchkovskiy entered into the Choreography school in Kiev. Upon graduating in 1999, Buchkovskiy was invited to join the Kiev Musical Theater as a

Principal dancer, where he danced under the direction of People’s Artist of the U.S.S.R. Valeriy Kovtun. In 2000, he was invited to the 17th Fresh Ballerina Festival in Japan, along with world ballet stars. In 2001, Buchkovskiy was invited to Stanislavskiy and Nemirovish-Danchenko Academic Music Theater in Moscow where he danced numerous leading roles. Buchkovskiy began as a Soloist at Colorado Ballet in 2007 and was promoted to Principal in the 2011-2012 season. Dmitry TrubchanovDmitry Trubchanov is from St. Petersburg, Russia. He began his dance training at the age of 8 at the Academy of Russian Ballet (the school of the Kirov Ballet). Upon his graduation Mr. Trubchanov danced with the Kirov Ballet Company for five years. With the Kirov Ballet

Company he traveled to places around the world including France, Holland, Korea, Turkey and Taiwan. Mr. Trubchanov has performed at the Kirov Ballet Gala performances in Innsbruck, Austria and Syracuse, Sicily. He has danced at the International Ballet Festival of Miami, Florida and the International Dance Festival in Vail, Colorado. Alexei TyukovAt age 10, he enrolled in Perm State Ballet Academy and in 1995, he graduated with a red diploma. He started dancing with The Perm Tchaikovsky Opera and Ballet Theatre. In 1998, he won a gold medal in the Senior Men’s division at the Arabesque competition of Perm and received

the Mikhail Arnapolskiy prize for the most talented participant of the competition. During the next four years, Mr. Tyukov performed leading roles and traveled throughout the world. Jesse MarksJesse Marks is from Bloomington, Indiana. An aspiring cellist from the age of 6, he studied at the IU School of Music and was the awarded the first chair of the Paris Youth Symphony in 1996. Mr. Marks also began his dancing at Indiana University under the


tutelage of Violette Verdy. In 2000 he was awarded a full scholarship at San Francisco Ballet School where he studied primarily with Jorge Esquivel. Mr. Marks joined Colorado Ballet in 2002, and was promoted to Soloist in 2008. During his time with the Company he has performed works by George Balanchine, Antony Tudor, Paul Taylor, Twyla Tharp, Christopher Wheeldon and Lar Lubovich, among others. Later that year, Valentine-Ellis was honored as one of Dance Magazine’s “Top 25 to Watch.” In 2006, she was a finalist and the Jury Award recipient at the USA International Ballet Competition. She has performed as a guest artist with the Moscow Ballet in their touring production of Swan Lake, at the Gala for the 2005 New York International Ballet Competition and internationally in the Baltic Ballet Festival in Riga, Latvia. Lesley AllredHailing from Alberta, Canada, Lesley trained for six years at the Royal Winnipeg Ballet School. Upon graduating in 2007, Lesley started dancing professionally with the Royal Winnipeg Ballet. In 2008, she joined Ballet Idaho where she danced various soloist roles in ballets choreographed

by Peter Anastos and Alex Ossadnik. In 2009, Lesley represented Canada at the New York International Ballet Competition, dancing with her fiancé Adam Still. After performing in various productions with ColoradoBallet during their 2010-2012 seasons, Lesley officially joined the company as a corps de ballet member in 2012. Last season, she especially loved performing Little Red Riding Hood in The Sleeping Beauty, Spanish in The Nutcracker, Balanchine’s Theme and Variations and Stephen Mills’ Light/The Holocaust & Humanity Project.

Morgan BuchananMorgan Buchanan is from Houston, Texas. She trained at the Ballet Center of Houston under the direction of Victoria Vittum and Gilbert Rome. Ms. Buchanan also trained at Houston Ballet’s Ben Stevenson Academy for two years, under the direction of Sally Rojas

and Sabrina Lenzi, where she earned the highest final evaluation variation score in her class. Before joining the Colorado Ballet Studio Company in 2009, Ms. Buchanan attended summer programs with American Ballet Theatre, Orlando Ballet and Houston Ballet. In 2011, she performed in Emery LeCrone’s Archetypes at the Vail International Dance Festival. Her favorite roles with Colorado Ballet include the Spanish dance in Swan Lake, Columbine Doll in The Nutcracker and Wendy in Michael Pink’s Peter Pan.

Cara CooperCara Cooper is in her eighth season with the company and is a recipient of the Florence Rustin Award for Excellence. Ms. Cooper trained on full scholarship at the Academy of Colorado Ballet before joining the company at 17. In 2007, Cooper joined the English National

Ballet in London, England and performed throughout Europe and in Beijing, China. Ms. Cooper has performed several leading roles including Rum and Cola in Paul Taylor’s Company B, Arabian in The Nutcracker, Lead Harlot in Romeo and Juliet, the Pas de Trois in Swan Lake, Flower Girl and Gypsie Queen in Don Quixote, Brown Woman in Celts and the Haughty Stepsister in Cinderella. In 2009, Ms. Cooper was invited to perform in the Gala Performance for the New York International Ballet Competition in the Rose Theater at Jazz at Lincoln Center in New York City. Ms. Cooper’s choreography has recently been commissioned for performances in Germany, Greece and throughout the US.

Casey DaltonCasey Dalton is from Boston, Massachusetts and studied with Rudolph Kharatian at the School of Washington Ballet and with Alla Sizova at the Kirov Academy of Ballet in Washington, D.C. She joined Colorado Ballet in 2004. Some of her favorite roles have included the Dumpy Stepsister in

Cinderella, Doll in The Nutcracker, Two Ladies in Leaves are Fading, Max’s Toys in Where the Wild Things Are, lead Czardas and Mazurka in Coppélia, the White Cat and Happiness Fairy in The Sleeping Beauty, a soloist in Le Sacre du Printemps, Little Swans in Swan Lake, Amor in Don Quixote, one of the Trio Ladies in Great Galloping Gottschalk, Michael in Peter Pan, Gypsy in Romeo and Juliet, and original roles in ballets by choreographers such as Matthew Neenan, Dwight Rhoden, Jodie Gates, and many more.

Christopher EllisChristopher Ellis was born in Chicago, Illinois and began his training with Maniya Barredo at the Metropolitan Ballet Theatre in Atlanta, Georgia, receiving the Mannie Rowe Memorial Scholarship. At the age of 18, Ellis joined the Orlando Ballet as a company member, under the

direction of Fernando Bujones. During his four seasons with Orlando Ballet, Ellis danced a variety of soloist and principal roles including Prince Charming and the Jester in Cinderella, the Cavalier and Prince in The


Nutcracker, King Arthur and Mordred in Camelot, and the Don Quixote pas de deux. Ellis has also performed in several of Fernando Bujones’ classical and contemporary choreographic works, as well as George Balanchine’s Agon, Who Cares?, Allegro Brillante, Theme and Variations and the Stars and Stripes pas de deux. In 2005, Ellis competed in both the New York and Helsinki International Ballet Competitions. He also performed with his wife, Caitlin Valentine-Ellis, as her non-competing partner at the 2006 USA International Ballet Competition. Later that year, he traveled to Japan to perform as a guest artist in the Okayama Ballet Festival. Since joining Colorado Ballet in 2007, Ellis has enjoyed performing Benvolio and Paris in Romeo and Juliet, Quincey in Dracula, Lysander in A Midsummer Night’s Dream, Black Murphy in Peter Pan, Benno in Swan Lake, Aqua in Bruch Violin Concerto No. 1 and the Cavalier and Prince in The Nutcracker. He has also worked with and performed in pieces by numerous choreographers including Val Caniparoli, Dwight Rhoden, Jessica Lang, Amy Siewert, Edwaard Liang and Twyla Tharp, among others.

Francisco EstevezBorn in Quito, Ecuador, Francisco moved to the USA in 1995. He began his ballet training in Louisville, Kentucky and at the age of 16 was invited to finish his professional training at the School of American Ballet in New York where he graduated in 2008. He has studied with Ethan

Stiefel, Jock Soto, Peter Martins, Edward Villella, Peter Boal, Nikolaj Hubbe, Sean Lavery, Rolando Sarabia, Johnny Eliasen, John Garner, and Amanda McKerrow among others. In 2008, Francisco joined Boston Ballet under the direction of Mikko Nissinen where he was featured in many soloist roles. In 2010, Francisco joined the Barcelona Ballet (previously Corella Ballet) under the direction of Angel Corella. As a member of this company, he took part in the “Feria del Libro” in Guadalajara, Mexico, the Spoleto Festival in both Italy and Charleston, North Carolina and the Peralada festival, Catalonia. He has toured to various cities including Los Angeles, Santa Barbara, Seattle, Charleston, Detroit, Houston and most recently, the New York City Center where he has performed various featured roles. Francisco won 1st Place at the Premio Internacional de Danza Roseta Mauri, Spain in 2011 and has modeled for Intermezzo dancewear’s 2013 line. He has also performed soloist and principal roles with the New York City Ballet on various occasions. His featured roles includes George Balanchine’s 1st and 2nd themes from The Four Temperaments, Balanchine’s Tarantella and Valse Fantasie, Jorma Elo’s Carmen Illusions, Jerome Robbins’ Fancy Free and 2 & 3 Part Inventions, Peter Martin’s Les Gentilhommes, Christopher Wheeldon’s For Four, DGV, Polyphonia and VIII, Clark Tippet’s Bruch Violin Concerto, Twyla Tharp’s In the Upper Room, Stanton Welch’s Clear, the wedding pas de deux and jewels from Sleeping Beauty, Franz in Coppelia, the Ali variation from Le Corsaire, Benno and Neopolitan in Swan Lake, the peasant pas de deux from Giselle, and

the pas de six from Napoli among others. Francisco joined Colorado Ballet in 2013.

Kevin HaleBorn in Warren, New Jersey but raised in England, Kevin began dancing at the age of 5. At the age of 11, he was accepted into The Royal Ballet School where he graduated in July 2013. Kevin has won the Kenneth McMillan Choreographic Competition twice and had one of his ballets

performed at the school’s annual show at the Royal Opera House. During his graduate year, Kevin performed with The Royal Ballet in various ballets including Swan Lake, The Nutcracker, La Valse and The Sleeping Beauty. He was also featured as a dancer on the BBC. Kevin joined Colorado Ballet in July 2013.

Klara HoudetA native of Réunion, France, Klara Houdet trained at the Paris Opéra Ballet School. When she turned 17, Jean-Christophe Maillot invited her to join Les Ballets de Monte Carlo, where she was promoted to second soloist. In 2007, Klara joined the National Ballet of Canada, where she

danced the majority of the classical repertoire and also Balanchine’ s The Four Temperaments and Symphony in C, Robbins’ Glass Pieces and Forsythe’ s Second Detail. She also worked with choreographers, namely John Neumeier, Reid Anderson, Crystal Pite, James Kudelka, Aszure Barton, Davide Bombana, Christopher Bruce and Ronald Hynd. Klara was sponsored by Mrs. Lucy White, through the “Dancer’s First” program and in 2009 she was awarded the William Marrie Award for Dramatic Achievement from the National Ballet of Canada. In 2010, she won the gold medal at the International Ballet Competition in Sibiu, Romania, and the first contemporary prize at the Shanghai International Ballet Competition in 2001. From 2010 to 2011, she was invited as a guest artist to perform various pas de deux such as Don Quixote, Grand Pas Classique,Tchaikovsky Pas de Deux, Nutcracker Grand Pas and the Bluebird Pas de Deux. More recently, the American Ballet Theatre invited her to dance in their production of La Bayadere at the Kennedy Center, Washington. Klara joined Colorado Ballet in July 2012. Since then, Klara was given the opportunity to perform the Vitality Fairy, Blue Bird Pas de Deux and Jewel Silver in The Sleeping Beauty and the Spanish and Marzipan dance in The Nutcracker. She also danced in Theme and Variations, The Rite of Spring and Light/The Holocaust & Humanity Project. She also took part in Val Caniparoli’ s world premiere, In Pieces.


DancersTracy Jones

Born in Cork, Ireland, Tracy began to dance at the age of 5 with Ballet Theatre Ireland. From the age of 11, she trained at The Royal Ballet School where she graduated in 2007. In 2006, Tracy was a winner of the Ursula Moreton choreographic competition and a finalist of the

Young British Dancer of the Year. She also featured in BBC’s The Culture Show and was awarded the Stanley Pickering Scholarship to complete her training. During her graduate year, Tracy performed with the Royal Ballet in various ballets and joined them on their 2007 International tour to Mexico and the USA. Upon graduating, Tracy joined the English National Ballet as an Artist where she performed various Corps de Ballet roles and toured to Beijing, China. From 2008 to 2012, Tracy was a member of the Barcelona Ballet (previously Corella Ballet) under the direction of Angel Corella. With this company, Tracy had the opportunity to dance various soloist and principal roles including the 3rd principal couple in Christopher Wheeldon’s DGV, the 3rd Shade variation in Natalia Makarova’s La Bayadere, Pas de Trois and Big Swans in Swan Lake, Twyla Tharp’s In the Upper Room, Jerome Robbin’s Fancy Free, and friend variations in both Raymonda and Paquita. She also created a soloist role in Russell Ducker’s Epimitheus for New York City Center in 2010. Tracy has modeled for Wear Moi’s 2011 dance catalog and both El Petit Ballet’s and Intermezzo’s 2013 dance catalogs. She also designs and makes her own line of ballet skirts under the name Tulips by Tracy. Tracy joined Colorado Ballet in January 2013. She was named as one of 10 “Stars in the Corps” by Pointe Magazine in June 2013.

Charlotte LanningCharlotte started her ballet training at the age of 10 at the Washington School of Ballet under the direction of Mary Day and Rebecca Wright. She then followed Michael Bjerknes, former Joffrey Ballet Principal, to study at the American Dance Institute on scholarship. She continued her

training with Dawei Zhang of the Shanghai Ballet. During her training she attended various summer programs such as American Ballet Theatre, Exploring Ballet with Suzanne Farrell, the School of American Ballet, Colorado Ballet, and Canada’s National Ballet School. She received the Phillip Jerry Memorial Scholarship for summer study and was a finalist for three years in the Kennedy Center Ballet Master Class Series. Charlotte spent the last two years as a studio company member with Colorado Ballet where she enjoyed performing in such productions as Swan Lake, The Nutcracker, The Sleeping Beauty, and George Balanchine’s Theme and Variations. She is very excited to be starting her first season with the company.

Christophor MoultonChristophor Moulton is from Colorado Springs, Colorado. He is a graduate of the Harid Conservatory in Florida, where he trained under Svetlana Osiyeva, Olivier Pardina and Victoria Schnider. During his years at Harid, Moulton performed numerous roles

including Siegfried in Swan Lake and Cavalier in The Nutcracker. He also studied for a year at the Jacquelyn Kennedy Onassis School under Franco Devita. Moulton is a recipient of the 2007 Rudolph Nureyev Education Fellowship. Moulton joined Colorado Ballet’s Studio Company in 2009 and was promoted into the Company in 2010. During that time he has danced several roles including Toreador in Don Quixote, God of the Wind in Beauty and the Beast and The Old Man in Eventually.

Kelsie NobrigaKelsie Nobriga is from Rancho Santa Margarita, CA, and began dancing at the age of five at the Pacific School of Ballet. She later trained with Melissa Allen Bowman at Danse Conservatory, and Charles Maple at the Maple Conservatory of Dance. After dancing in summer programs at

Pacific Northwest Ballet on full scholarship, she danced with PNB in their professional division in 2010. There she performed in PNB’s The Nutcracker, Cinderella, A Midsummer Night’s Dream and Giselle. In 2011, Kelsie joined Oregon Ballet Theatre as an Apprentice, where she had the opportunity to dance roles such as Columbine Doll, Snow, Flowers and Marzipan in The Nutcracker, Small Swans and the 3rd Act Pas de Trois in Swan Lake, as well as perform in their productions of Carmen and Giselle. This is her first season with Colorado Ballet.

Sean OmandamSean Omandam is from Fresno, California, where he began his training with Shirley Winters. He later went on to train on full scholarship at the Harid Conservatory in Boca Raton, Florida under the instruction of Victoria Schneider, Olivier Pardina and Svetlana Osiyeva.

Upon his graduation in 2004, he joined Colorado Ballet’s Studio Company, and was promoted into the Company in 2005. With Colorado Ballet, Mr. Omandam has performed a variety of featured roles including Puck in Christopher Wheeldon’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream, Whip Boy in Glen Tetley’s The Rite of Spring, John Darling in Michael Pink’s Peter Pan, Green Man in

In 2007, he was a competitor and gala performer at the New York International Ballet Competition. Most recently, in the summer of 2013, Mr. Omandam was featured as a contestant on the premier season of the South Korean television show, Dancing 9.

Kevin Gaël ThomasKevin Gaël Thomas is from France and studied at Rosella Hightower’s International Ballet Center and at Canada’s National Ballet School, where he received a full scholarship and graduated in 2006, with honors. Mr. Thomas also graduated with honors from the Music

Conservatory in France for piano. He then danced for a year with Houston Ballet II. Mr. Thomas joined Colorado Ballet in 2007. During his first season he performed well-known roles such as Fritz and Russian in The Nutcracker. He then performed Soloist roles in Colorado Ballet productions including Blue Bird and Jewels in The Sleeping Beauty, Neopolitan in Swan Lake, one of the two soloist boys in The Rite of Spring and Demi Soloist in Theme and Variations. In 2012, he received his first principal role as Peter in Michael Pink’s Peter Pan. Following that production, he danced at the Gotham Dance Festival with the Company in New York. Mr. Thomas was chosen to represent France at the New York International Ballet Competition in 2009 and at the USA Jackson International Ballet Competition in 2010.

Luis ValdesLuis Valdes was born in Matanzas, Cuba, and joined Colorado Ballet in 2005. Previously, he performed with the National Ballet of Cuba and Cincinnati Ballet. Mr. Valdes’ favorite role with Colorado Ballet is Espada in Don Quixote. Since joining Colorado Ballet, Valdes

has had the opportunity to dance as a guest in modern dance pieces in Florida, New York, and Iowa. He has had the chance to perform in new works by Val Caniparoli and Amy Seiwert. Mr. Valdes also enjoyed the opportunity to perform The Rite of Spring in Colorado Ballet’s MasterWorks production last season. Some of his favorite choreography includes Twyla Tharp’s In The Upper Room, Paul Taylor’s Company B and Antony Tudor’s Echoing of Trumpets.

Kevin WilsonKevin Wilson was born in Durango, Colorado. He is a graduate of the Harid Conservatory in Florida, where he trained under Svetlana Osiyeva, Olivier Pardina and Victoria Schnider. He received the Dance Achievement Award for two consecutive years. Kevin

has been a member of Colorado Ballet for six years. He had the pleasure of dancing in the Corps for Bruch Violin Concerto No. 1 and the wedding scene from A Midsummer Night’s Dream.

Ben WinegarBen Winegar is from Grand Rapids, Michigan. He began his training at the School of the Grand Rapids Ballet at the age of 11. There he was trained by Attila Mosolygo, Gaiane Akopian, and Akop Akopian, and was given the opportunity to perform in several ballets with the Grand Rapids

Ballet Company. In 2010, Ben spent a year training at the School of American Ballet. Upon graduating, he danced one season with the Los Angeles Ballet under the direction of Thordal Christensen and Colleen Neary. This is Ben’s second season as a member of Colorado Ballet.

In the 2013 production of Colorado Ballet’s Nutcracker, Adele had the opportunity to dance in a corps de ballet role as a snowflake in the Snow Scene. This role is typically performed by Company and Studio Company members so it was quite an honor that Adele was cast.

“It was really amazing, being with all these incredible dancers on stage is so exciting, and it was so nice to be a part of,” Adele said of her experience.

Working with the dancers during rehearsals gave Adele a chance to really learn how to be comfortable on stage. “I was very nervous the first time I danced the part, but after watching the choreography a few times I was able to trust myself and really get a hang of the choreography. Also, the dancers and directors were very helpful and were happy to review the choreography with me.”

Adele has been dancing since she was three, but began training at Colorado Ballet’s Academy two years ago. Seeing The Nutcracker every year and watching the dancers perform was what inspired Adele to continue dancing.

All Colorado Ballet Academy students enrolled in the ballet program have the opportunity to audition for select children’s roles in The Nutcracker. These include parts such as angels, party children and polichinelles. Our upper level students like Adele are sometimes offered the chance to learn Company roles.

Our unique program trains students and rehearses in the same building as our Company. This lends itself to an unparalleled professional training ground. Students observe Company members at work and on stage and are seen on a daily basis by Colorado Ballet’s artistic staff. At Colorado Ballet, the possibilities are endless.
