By Cynthia Mendoza A much beloved tradition in Colton continues to draw an entire community to Hermosa Gardens Cemetery on Memorial Day of Inland Memorial’s special ceremony to honor those who have lost their lives serving their country. Apart from honoring those who have served their country, the event also draws families who simply wish to remember their loved ones who have passed on, including dads, moms, sisters, aunts, uncles and sadly, even children. The cemetery fills up with flowers and other tributes at each grave site and families sometimes place lawn chairs around their loved one’s site to just sit, relax and reflect or con- verse with each other. The ceremony itself follows its traditional routine that includes words of gratitude and support from elected officials, including Colton Mayor Sarah Zamora and members of the city council, Rialto Councilman Joe Baca Jr. and Redlands Mayor Pete Aguilar, music, a 21-gun salute, given by the VFW Post 6474, proclamations and more.
