1U: Interview with Christopher Morris, Gary Morris (Natural Fatherof Chris) andAttorney JohnRichilano

DETAILS:

1. On April 20, 1999 Investigators Vetteand Acierno interviewed Christopher Morris along with

hisattorney and father. At approximately 7'43 PM. and priorto any questioning Investigator

Acierno advised Christopher Morris, his father and attorney of theirMiranda rights from a

Departmental Advisement form. All stated they understood and agreed to speakwith

investigators. Christopher Morris andhisfather bothsigned the advisement waiver form.

2, Investigator Vette asked Morris to explain what had occurred since he woke up this morning

to the time he was brought to the Sheriff's Office Chris Morris saidthat when hewoke up this

morning hewasgettingready for bowling class which is held at the A..'vlF Bowling alley located at

the intersection of Belleview and Federal Blvd. Chris Morris saidthat this is his first period

Columbine High School class. Morris said class was to held thisweekMonday throughThursday

although the schedule changes fromtime to time. Morris said that Eric Harris was to pickhim up

around 5.50 A.M. although Harris never showed up. Chris Morris said he waited for Harris until

around 6 00 A.M. so he drove hisownvehicle (1985, red, Dodge, Lancer) to the bowling alley

andattended class. Morris said that helikes to get III class early so he can get a good bowling ban

andshoes andthe bowling lanes are turned on about 6 30 A.M. Chris Morrissaid Eric Harris

never caned him saying he wouldn'tbe picking him up this morning. Morris alsosaidthat Dylan

Klebold at one timeused to pickhim up for bowling although hasn't done so for about a year

JC- 001-010802

Page 3: Columbine Report Pgs 10801-10900

Morris said during class be never saw Harris or Klebold and assumed they weren't comingto

school. Morris said that he has neverseen Dylan Klebold or Eric Harris missbowling class unless

they were sick, but both nevermissed class together, ChrisMorris said that today his bowling

teammates were Nate LNU, Eddie Day, Terry Sabe and Mike Pavalonin (all last names

phonetically spelled) which are all Columbine High Schoolstudents ChrisMorris said that each

gametakes between 15·20 minutes and class is usually done about 7 20 AM"

3" Following the bowlingclass Chrissaid he drove directly to Clement Park and was listening to

music and lookingfor paperwork he needed to bringto class, ChrisMorris said that during this

time hisvehicle overheated" Morris said this was just prior to S,00 A,M. so he let the car cool

down in Clement Park. (Morris later changedhis story and said that he drove from the bowling

alley to McDonald's to get something to eat, by himself, then responded to the area of Columbine

High Schoolwhere the school kids smokeand ate what he purchasedfrom McDonald's. Morris

described thisarea as being on a street above the student parking lot. Morris said while in this

smoking area he spoke to. George LNU, FrankLNU and another male individual whose name he

couldn't recall, Morris said this conversation onlylasted a few minutes whilehe was eating

Morris said once he finished eating he drove to Clement Park where his car overheated and spoke

to another male individual while waitingfor his car to cool down" Morris could not remember this

personsname.) Chris Morris said once the vehicle cooled down he drove closer to the Columbine

High School so he didn't have as far to walk whenhe left the school. Morris said he then went to

his second period Science class with Mr. Freezen (Phonetic) then to his third period

Govemmenr/Economice class. Chris Morris said following thisclass he went to his car and drove

to CubFoods where he purchasedMountain Dew and other items, then drove to Cory Freezen's

house, (Son of Science Teacher, Me Freezen) whereMorris said that he hangsout at a lot

following school. Chris Morris said once at Cory's house they began playing Nintendogames for

approximately thirty minutes to an hour when Cory received a telephonecall from his mother

saying that there had been a shootingat Columbine High School. ChrisMorris said he and Cory

2 JC· 001·010803

Page 4: Columbine Report Pgs 10801-10900

Freezenthen attempted to drive to the schooland got to CrossDrive near the movie theaters

turned around and went to the International House ofPancakes (mOP) in an attempt to find

schoolmends. ChrisMorris said that he and Cory Freezen didn't see anyone so they drove back

to CoryFreezen's house which is on the other side (West)of Southwest Plaza. Chris Morris said

while on there way back to Cory's househe received several pageson his Motorola pager ( 303

505-9051)and attempted to return the callsonce at Freezen's house. Morris said one of the calls

was from his girlfriend, Nicholwoo said that she was at themop Morris said that he and Cory

then got into Cory's truck since Morris' vehicle was beginning to overheat again and drove back

to themop attempting to locate Morris' girlfriend. Morrissaid that Nichol had already left by

the timehe and Cory arrived so they drove to Nichol's houseand found her there. Chris Morris

said once at Nichol's house she told him that she believed one of the people involved in the

shooting at Columbine High School was "Dylan" ChrisMorris said that he is familiar with Dylan

who works with him at BlackjackPizza and is on his same bowling team. Morris they didn't stay

at Nichol's house long becauseCory was worried about hisdad so they drove back to Freezen's

houseto wait for telephonecallsor anyword that Cory's dadwas alright. Chris Morris said once

back at Cory's house Charles Phillips called saying that he had heard what had happened on the

news Morris said that Charles Phillips, his brother, and a neighbor who heard the report on the

newsand knewMr Freezen, then came over to Cory Freezen'shouse Morris said they were all

watching the news when they reponed that the people involved were wearingtrench coats and

possibly involved in a group calledthe trench coat mafia. Chris Morris said he knew the only

peoplewearing trench coats at Columbine High School wereEric Harris and DylanKlebold,

becausehe stopped wearing his about a year ago and dido't know anyoneelse other than Harris

and Klebold who wore trench coats. ChrisMorris said things begansoundingfamiliar and be not

only remembered the two wearing trench. coats but also remembered that the two had been

shootingbowling pins in the mountains. Morrisalso saidthat Harrisand Klebold had been

involved in blowing thingsup around work and explained that Harris and Klebold both had been

in trouble at BlackjackPizza and were told not to lightfirecrackers or anything else. Morris said

3 JC.001-010804

Page 5: Columbine Report Pgs 10801-10900

Harris and Klebold would take the gunpowder out of the firecrackers and compact or pressurize

it. Chris Morris said after realizing this, he andCoryFreezen both believed that Harris and

Klebold were involved. Morris said he thencalled 911 in an attemptto speakto a Detectiveand

explain that hebelieved he knewwho the suspects were.. Morris saidonce he calledthe Sheriff's

Office he was beingtransferred on the telephone and it was disconnected. Morris said that his

mother, who works at Cherry Hills Police Department, then pagedhim so he returned the

telephone calland told hismother whathad taken place, Chris Morris said that his motherthen

had himspeak to a Cherry HillsPoliceDetective. Chris Morris said the Cherry Hillsdetective was

to passon the information to JCSO and didn't remember his name. Chris said he then hungup and

decided to again try calling the Sheriff's Office, Chris Morris said he was transferred to a

Detective and told the Detective his story Investigator T. Acierno confirmed this information as

he wasthe Investigator Morris had spokento when be called the second time, ChrisMorrissaid

Investigator Acierno told him to stay at Freezen's residence and the police would comeby and

talk withhim. Morris said the policearrived at Freezen's residence andtold him to removeallof

hisproperty from his pockets. Morris saidhe did so and was placed in handcuffs and brought to

Clement Park where he was taken to a van whereseveral peoplequestioned him Morris said

following the questioning he was brought to the Sheriffs Office

4. Chris Morris explained approximately 6 months ago Dylan Klebold brought what Chris

believed as a pipebomb to work. Morris described the pipebombwhichappearedto be

approximately 2' round and 12" longwith capsat both endsand a fuse, Morris said that he and a

number of employees saw the pipe bomb and Morris told Klebold to get it out of the business,

Morris said that Klebold mumbled something to the effect that you put shrapnel inside and Morris

saidhe didn't want to know anything about it,

5. Morris said approximately 4 weeks ago EricHarris or "Reb" as he wanted to be called, told

Morris that he wanted to put a trip bomb in the fence behind Blackjack Pizza. Morris said there is

4 JC- 001·010805

Page 6: Columbine Report Pgs 10801-10900

a holein the fence behindBlackjack Pizzawhere a lot ofldds go through to gain access to the

other side and Harriswanted to set a trip device so when kids came through the fence it would go

off. Morrissaidhe saw the trip devicewhichwas a CO-2 cartridge filled with gun powder Morris

saidthe cartridge had matcheswrapped around the outside with a string attached as the tripping

device, Morris saidwhen the string was tripped it would causethe matches to tight, whichwould

light the fuse, and the cartridge would explode, Morris saidhe told Eric Harris net to put the trip

bomb in the fence. Morris said he is unsurewhetherHarris ever did or not. Christopher Morris

said he then began realizing that Klebold and Harriswere settingolf to manybombs and that they

were making bombsthat could aetuallyhurt someone Chris Morrissaid it was around this same

time that he heard from employees at work that Eric Harris was tryingto have someone purchase

weapons for him at a gun shaw Morris was unsure whether this occurred althoughhe believes

someone didbuy the guns for Harris, possibly through PhilDurana former employee of Blackjack

Pizza, becauseDuran had mentioned to Christhat theyhad gone shootingbowling pins Morris

saidthat he heard from several different people that Harris got the guns althoughhe (Morris)

neversaw anyof the guns Morris said that PhilDuran later told him that they were playing with

an AK-47 althoughhe never mentioned purchasing thegun for K1ebold or Harris. Morris said

that he has onlyfired one gun in his life which was at camp and the onlygun he ever saw Harris

with was a pellet gun Morris said that PhilDuran would be hard to track down sincehe has a

newjob in the telecommunications field and was out of State.

6. Investigator Vette asked Morris what timehe made it to his first class. Morris said that his first

classstarts at 8.20 A.M. and he was outsidewaiting to get in the classat 8'10 to 8 15 A.M

Morris said that class is finished at about 9'20 A.M. Morris said that there is a five minute passing

period and hewent to his next class Governmem/Economic which starts at 9 25 A.M andgoes

until 10'15 A.M. Chris saidat 10'15 A.M he left class onceit was finished and drove directly to

CubFoods where he was in the store about 5 minutes purchasing foods items then drove directly

to CoryFreezen's house. Morris estimatedthat fromthe time he [eft school at 10:15 A.M. until

5 JC· 001-010806

Page 7: Columbine Report Pgs 10801-10900

he reached Cory Freezen's house was about twenty minutes or about 10'35 A.M Moms also

stated that he hadhis CubFoods receipt at CoryFreezen's home which mayshowthe exacttime

he was at Cub Foods, (this receipt was not recovered).

7 Chris Morris said that Klebold andHarrisboth have computers although theywere taken away

bytheirparents about a year ago because HarrisandKlebold werearrested for breaking into a

vehicle andstealing computerparts. Morris said thatbothHarrisandKlebold were onJefferson

County Diversion for the violations and believes they werereleased fromDiversion about a month

ago. Morriswas asked ifhe knewfor what purposes Harris and Klebold used the computer for?

Moms said that both Harrisand Klebold usedthe computer for playing games between

themselves. Morris said that a gamecalled "Quake" which is much like the game"Doom" was

played almost everyday by Harrisand Klebold. Morris said that ali you do in the games is kill and

blow up people and he (Moms) didn't take much interest in the games Morris said he was

unaware ifKlebold andHarrisused the computer anything else, Investigator Vette askedMorrisif

hewas into computers? Morris said that he likes computers and etlioys programing games. Moms

said that he also wishes to be II computernetwork administrator someday after he takesall the

classes Morris was askedif he owns a computer Morris said that he does own II computer

although has no Internetprovider. Morris said that he kind of useda mends Internet provider

whose is named, "Chuck" although doesn't usedthat anymore. Morris said that he once used

America OnLine, about 5-6 months ago although could no longerafford the service Christopher

Morris said that his screen name is"Grunt257" Morris said that he andCoryFreezen haveplayed

games between computers without having an Internet provider by simply calling eachothers

modems

anything of that kind? Morris saidthe only thinkhe had was the firecrackers, which he obtained

from a fireworks stand.

9. Investigator Vette askedChris Morris if it would be alright to search his bedroom for any

evidentiary items? Morris said that Investigators could search his room. Itshould be notedthat

Defense Attorney JohnRichilanc was present during allof the interview. Furthermore,

Investigator Vette told Morris that he would like to take his (Morris) clothing, which couldassist

investigators in the elimination of suspects. Morris agreed andadvised that investigators could

take hisclothing. Investigator veee also asked to takeMorris' computerwhich was in his

bedroom. Morris agreed. Investigator Vetteexplained that he knew nothing of computers and

computer people wouldbe broughtin to viewthecontents of the computer. Morris again agreed.

although hewas unsure when investigators would be done withhis computer Attorney Richilano

said inthe past it has taken about three weeks.

10. Investigator T. Acierno read Chris Morris and his father the consent to search form Which was

signed by beth allowing officers to search.Morris' bedroom for evidentiary items. Investigators

Gary Morris,Morris.

Christopher R. Morris, date of birth June S, 1981, homeaddress 5466 West Portland Drive, Littleton, Colorado, hometelephone number (303) 972-8864, was interviewed at his attorneysoffice, Richalano and Ridley PC, 1800 15th Street, Denver,Colorado. Morris was advised of the identities of theinterviewing Agents and aSked about his knOWledge of the eventsthat lead to the shootings at Columbine High School on April 20,1999. Morris was also asked about his knOWledge concerning thepurchase of weapons by Eric Harris and Dylan Klebold.

Also present during the inte~!iew was Dr.Morris' father and John Richalano, Morris' attorney.provided the following infortration:

Morris stated that he had no knowledge of, nor did heparticipate in the events that lead up to the shootings atColumbine High School (CHS).

Morris stated that he was one of the founding membersalong with Joe Stair (phonetic) and Tad Boles of what the otherCHS students coined as the "Trench Coat Mafia". As a freshman atCHS, Morris was picked on because of his size. Between hisfreshman and sophomore years he grew a lot and he and a fewothers began donning the black trench coat/slickers in order tointimidate the kids that picked on them. Morris admitted he hada bad temper but he got his temper under control by the time hewas a junior at CHS. The Trench Coat Mafia picture in the 199BCMS yearbook was a joke as far as Morris was concerned and itprovided comic relief to the kids that wore the black trenchcoats.

Morris began to know Harris and Klebold in his junioryear when the three were in the same video production class andby the beginning of Morris' senior year he was good friends withboth Harris and Klebold. Morris stated that Harris and Kleboldshared many of the same interests in computers, computer games, etc. About the time Morris began not wearing his trench ccat, both Harr~s and Klebold began to wear theirs. Morris believedthat they wore the coats for self protection. Morris stated thatHarris was not a very big person and was more susceptible togetting picked on than either he or Klebold, who were both OVer

six feet tall. Morris recalled that Harris was depressed abouthis size and getting picked on. Morris was aware that Harris'nickname was "Reb' and Klebold's nickname was "Vodka".

Morris hegan working at BlackJack Pizza, located atpierce Street and Ottawa Avenue in the Pierce Street ShoppingCenter, Littleton, Colorado, in October 1996. By Fall 1998Harris, Klehold, Nathan Dykeman, and Philip Duran all worked atthe above BlackJack Pizza. Morris recalled that sometime beforeThanksgiving 1998 Klebold brought into BlackJack Pizza a pipebomb to show his friends. Morris recalled he got very mad atKlebold and told him never to bring another bomb into the pizzashop or for that matter never show another pipe bomb to himbecause he knew how stup~d it was to have a pipe bomb and howmuch trouble Klabold could get into if the police found out hehad a pipe bomb.

After Christmas Morris began to think that Harris wasbecoming more depressed. Far what reason Morris did not know.Morris stated that about two months ago he began drifting awayfrom Harris as their interests were changing. Morris had agirlfriend, Nicole Markham, and Harris began getting into Germanmusic and books that didn't interest Morris. Morris recalledgoing to a German heavy metal concert with Harris that featured aband called Ramatein. Morris also recalled that Harris beganreading books on Hitler and concentration camps. Morris statedthat he was involved with his own life and not Harris' and thetwo grew apart.

Morris had bowling classes on Monday, Tuesday, andWednesday with Harris, KIabold, and Dykeman and would associatewith the above individuals during school hours but stopped doingsocial things with them. On occasion Harris would pick up Morrisat Morris' home and drive him to bowling class and on someoccasions Harris would drive Morris home from school.

Approximately one month ago Harris brought a C02cartridge filled with what Morris thought was gunpowder into theElackJack Pizza. Harris told Morris that it was a "trip bomb"for the unknown people that were crawling through the fencebehind BlackJack. Morris told the interviewing Agents that theBlackJack employees were constantly fixing the fence that unkno~~

people were crawling through and it annoyed the BlackJack

employees. Morris thought a trip bomb was a little extreme forpeople crawling through the fence. Harris told Morris the tripbomb was just to scare the people. Morris described the tripbomb as a C02 cartridge wrapped in duct tape and fused withmatches and a string. Morris stated that possibly Klebold andDykeman were at the BlackJack Pizza when Harris brought in thetrip bomb.

Morris recalled on another occasion, Harris and Kleboldhad set off a device behind BlackJack Pizza but Morris was notsure what kind of a device it was.

Morris restated that over the last month or so he didnot see Harris or Klebold mUCh. except at school, because he washanging around Corey Friesen a lot. Friesen knew Harris andKlebold. Morris did attend a birthday get together for Harris onHarris' lath birthday. King Soopers for donuts. Morris returned to school and attendedhis classes. Morris did nOt recall if Harris and/or Kleboldreturned to classes on Monday, Morris stated after his classeswere over he returned to his residence where he took a nap. Atapproximately 2:00pm Markham arrived at Morris' residence andwoke him up. At 2:30pm Morris followed Markham back by CMS whereMarkham had to stop for a choir robe fitting. Morris did notstop at school but continued on to Friese~s residence, Morrisstated that at about 3:30pm Markham also came to Friesen'sresidence and the two left and went back to Markhams residence. At approximately 8pm Morris left Markham's residence and returnedto Friese~s. Morris and Friesen then went to see their friendCharles Phillip II who was working at Video City, located atKipling and Jewell, Lakewood, Colorado. They stayed at VideoCity until approximately lOpm talking to Phillips and playingvideo games. At lOpm Morris and Friesen returned to Friesen'sresidence and played the video game Friesen had rented at VideoCity. Morris went home at 12 - 12:30am.

On Tuesday, April 20, 1999, Morris waited for Harris toshare a ride to bowling class. At 5:50am Harris did not show, soat approximately 6:00am Morris drove himself to the BelleviewLanes. When he arrived at the bowling alley he picked up hisbowling ball and shoes and waited for the others to arrive. Soonthereafter Dykeman showed up and asked where Harris and Kleboldwere. Morris told Dykeman that he did not know where the othertwo were and Morris and Dykeman continued on with the class andbowled two games, beginning at 6:30am.

When bowling class was over, Morris went to McDonald'sand then to Clement Park. Morris was having problems with hiscar overheating and thought he would leave his car at ClementPark instead of parking at the CHS parking lot. Morris begantalking to the unknown male parked beside him and eventuallydecided to take the chance of his car overheating in the studentparking lot and gave the kid a ride to CHS parking lot.

Morris attended his second hour class, which started at8:20am. This class is with Kenneth Friesen, the father of CoreyFriesen. of the classes prior to April 20, 1999 and had not attended farseveral days/weeks, as he knew he was going to fail the classanyway.

At approximately 10:lSam, April 20, 1999, Morris leftCHS and went to Cub Foods, in a close by shopping center, on hisway to Corey Friesen's house. Morris stated that at the time ofthe shootings he was playing computer games at Friesen's housewith Corey. Morris stated it was not until Mrs. Friesen calledand told the boys ahout the shootings and questioned whether theyhad heard from Kenneth Friesen.

As the facts of the shooting began coming over thetelevision Morris began to suspect that Harris, Klebold, andpossible others were involved. Morris made numerous attempts tocontact Jefferson County Sheriff's Office (Jeso), to tell themwhat he knew about Harris and Klebold. Morris stated that scsokept putting him off or the line was constantly busy so hedecided to go to Clement Park so he could tell what he knew. When Mcrris arrived at Clement Park he was eventually detained byJCSO and later debriefed.

Just weeks prior to the CHS shootings Morris began tonotice that Harris was becoming more aggressive and was pickingfights with other people, This made Morris very angry because itappeared to Morris that Harris kept expecting Morris to bail himout of these fights. Morris also recalled approximately one weekbefore the CHS shootings that Harris had asked Morris if he couldstore some fireworks at Morris' house. Morris declined, tellingHarris that it would make his Mom too mad. Neither Morris orHarris brought the subject of fireworks up after that exchange.

Morris was unaware of any Websites that Harris had.

After the shootings, Morris stated that his girlfriend,Markham had recalled in retrospect that approximately one to twoweeks prior to the shooting she had observed Harris and Kleboldin the CHS cafeteria looking over a piece of paper. Markham wentup to them and asked what they were doing. Markham told Morristhat were trying to hold the paper back where she could not readwhat was on it so she teasingly grabbed the paper from them. Onthe paper was a diagram of the school cafeteria along with thelocation of the cameras.

Morris was then aSked by the interviewing Agents aboutany knowledge he ~~y have of where the weapons used in theshootings came from, Morris stated that he did recall anotherBlackJack Pizza employee, Phil Duran, had taken Harris andKlebold shoot~ng, and believed they had gone to gun shOWStogether. Morris had overheard Duran talking to Harris andKlebold about the gun shows. Approx~mately three weeks to onemonth ago Morris also overheard two other BlackJack Pizzaemployees, James and Billy (last names unknown), talking aboutHarris and Klebold having purchased a gun from Duran or one ofDuran's friends. Morris recalled that the gun they purchased wasan AJ{-47 or a "Tech'. Morris stated at the time he did not knowwhat a Tech was, and in fact at first thought they were talkingabout a computer. In any event Morris thought to himself thatthis talk about guns was not good, However he had no idea of theevents that were going to happen at CHS on April 20, 1999.

Morris was aware that Duran lived in a house withseveral other people to include another BlackJaok Pizza employee,Angel (last name unknown).

Morris was aware that Duran was a marijuana smoker, aswere Harris and Klebold. Morris knew this because Duran hadoffered him some at one time when Duran was giving Morris a ridehome from work. Morris stated he observed Harris and Kleboldsmoking "pot" on one occasion. Morris had no reason to believethat Duran was a threat to him Or Dykeman.

Morris concluded the interview by stating that he wasmOre than willing to assist in this investigation and was askedagain if he had knowledge of, or participated in the planning orexecution of the shootings and bomb planting at CBS. Morrisrestated that he did not and as further proof, if had been awareof the events of April 20, 1999 he would not have allowed hisgirlfriend, who he stated he loves, in the CBS cafeteria at thetime of the shooting, or his girlfriend's little brother, whocame running into the cafeteria telling everyone to get downbecause of the shooting. Nor would he have had his best friend'sdad, Kenneth Friesen, in the school at the time of the shootings.

Christopher Richard Morris, date of birth June 9, 1981,5466 West Portland Drive, Littleton, Colorado, Social SecurityAccount Number 521-63-0154, was interviewed outside ColumbineHigh School, Littleton, Colorado. After being advised of theidentity of the interviewing Agent and the purpose of theinterview, Morris provided the following information:

Morris was at Corey Friesen's home, a friend fromColu~~ine High School, watching television when he saw a reporton the shooting at Columbine High School. As he listened to thereport, he thought he knew who was involved and came back to theschool to provide information.

Morris believed the two students who were involved tobe Eric Harris and Dylan Klebcld. Harris alsc goes by the nickname of "Reb" and Klebold "Vodka" . Others he thoughtmight be involved were (a recent graduate ofColumbine) and elt this because and

as and Kleb d.

Morris was the first to start wearing a black trenchcoat. As others started wearing the coats, Morris stopped. Hedid this because it was no longer a statement of hisindividuality. Morris stated that he and the others wereinsulted by other students because of the trench coats. Harrisand Klebold continued to wear the black trench coats and Harriswore his all the time. Morris believes Harris did this becausethe coat made him feel tougher. The name "Trench Coat Mafia"came about after Morris discontinued wearing the coat.

Besides bowling early in the morning, Morris' classes(for the morning schedule) were: first period - no class; 2ndhour - Mr. Friesen; and 3rd hour· Mr. Tinnelly. On April 20,1999, Morris went to bowling. but Harris and Klebold were notthere. After bOWling class, Morris went to school and attendedhis scheduled classes. After 3rd hour, he left campus to getsomething to eat and then went to Corey Friesen's house. Coreyis the son of Mr. Friesen, the teacher. Once Morris determined

that Harris and Klebold were involved, he felt he should find hisgirlfriend, Nicole Markham (303-904-3538 - blocked number), Hefound his girlfriend, then decided to come back to columbine tosee if he could provide Some information.

Morris advised that Harris and Klebold had been makingbombs for some time. They had been reading "The Anarchis~s'

Cookbook" and a number of different books about Hitler and theNazis. Morris was unaware of any Web sites frequented by Harrisor Klebold. Both Klebold and Harris were knowledgeable in bombmaking.

Klebold, Harris and Morris all worked at the BlackjackPizza (Columbine and Pierce, (303) 978-0600). About six monthsprior to April 20, 1999, Klebold and Harris set up a trip wireexplosive device on a gate behind the Blackjack Pizza. They madea special showing cf the device to Morris. He told them to~get

rid of it. Harris and Klebold also brought a pipe bomb to theBlackjack Pizza. Again, Morris told them that having the deviceswas a federal offense and that they could go to jail. This wasimportant to Morris as he knew that Harris and Klebold had justcome off Diversion for some other offenses. Morris described thepipe bomb as being made of PVC pipe, about 10 inches long andhaving a fuse at one end. He was told it was filled with screws.Another explosive had a fuse and was made from a C02 cartridge,The manager of the Blackjack Pizza was Bob Kirges (phonetic). Heis no longer there. The new manager is Chris Lowell (phonetic). These individuals may have knowledge about the bombs at Blackjackor about Harris and Klebold.

Morris did not know of any steady girlfriends foreither Harris or Klebold, but did say that Klebold took RobinAnderson to the Prom. Morris described his relationship withHarris and Klebold as not close. They were not close friends andhe did not know much about either's personal life. However, about two weeks ago Morris was privy to a conversation withHarris. This conversation took place at the morning bowlingclass. Harris was saying, "Wouldn't it be fun to kill all thejocks?" Morris did not think Harris was serious, but Harriscontinued with comments about blowing up the school. Harris saidthey could put bombs on the school's generators and that shouldblow up the school. As Morris wanted nothing more of thisconversation, he began talking to someone else.

When aSked if Morris thought Harris and Klebold wouldset booby traps and explosives in the school, he stated that fromwhat he had heard so far, he believed they might. When askedwhere Harris and Klebold may have gotten the guns, Morris statedthat the shotgun may have been from Klebold's father as he had anumber of guns and was a hunter. Morris thought that other gunsmay have been obtained through an older boy (early 20s> at theBlack Jack Pizza. He mentioned Phil Duran as someone who mighthave more information or who might have actually gotten guns forHarris and Klebold. Morris recalled that Harris and Klebold usedto get pins from bowling and use them for target practice.

PERRY could not afford an expensive oil-skinnedAustralian duster, so he wore a cheaper, all-cotton black trenchcoat. PERRY was the only member of the TC}l who wore an actualtrench coat. The rest of the members were an Australian duster.

PERRY was into che "Gothic'" or "Goth" movement in Denverand enjoyed wearing black clothes. The true "Goth" movement wasconsidered non-violent, whose members felt more at home andcomfortable during the night,

. The TCM initially tried to be a "Goth" group, butmembers were too aggressive and violent for the movement,TCM members still liked to dress in Gothic style.

FERRY stopped associating with the TCM during the firstday of school, circa August, 1998, after MORRIS threatened himwith physical violence. MORRIS was angry that LYDIE FERRY hadinsulted him over a girl and PERRY had made a point to pass themessage directly onto MORRIS. Afterwards, MORRIS had threatenedto beat-up and kill PERRY.

MORRIS was considered to be more aggressive and violentthan the ather TCM members. He constantly picked fights withother students. PERRY considered himself to be a "paci.f i at;" andwas afraid of guns. FERRY did not like violence of any kind anddid not own or possess any guns. PERRY stopped associating withthe TeM when they became increasingly violent, They wouldconstantly get into violent confrontations with other studentsusing baseball bats and knives as weapons.

At no time did any TCM members make any bombs orexplosive devices while PERRY associated with the group.
