THE ASCENSION OF THE LORD
MIN TRY APPRECIATION WEEKEND
GSCS has so many parishioners who give of their time and
talent individually and in groups to serve within our parish
and also out in our community in a variety of ways. We
are grateful for all the disciples who are making
stewardship a way of life:
Those helping in liturgical ministries such as Altar
Servers, Eucharistic Ministers, Hospitality Greeters,
Welcome Team, Liturgical Environment, Lectors, Music,
Ushers, Sacristans, and care of altar linens.
Those serving on parish committees such as Finance, Faith
Formation, Spiritual Life, Hispanic, Parish Life,
Stewardship, School Council, and Parish Pastoral Council.
Those in Formation of children, youth, and adults such as
catechists, teachers and tutors, those in prayer and study
groups, those helping with Youth Life and Vacation Bible
School, PTO, coaches and club leaders, Confirmation and
RCIA sponsors.
Those working for peace and justice through legislative
advocacy, Catholic Relief Services/Operation Rice Bowl,
Men’s and Women’s Shelters and the Soup Kitchen,
Kings Daughter’s Apartments Lunches, Jail Ministry,
Gleaning for God’s Hungry, St. Vincent de Paul Society,
and Respect Life Team.
Those enhancing parish life and serving the needs of our
parish with such groups as Coffee and Donuts Team, Faith
and Fitness, Active Movement Exercise Classes, funeral
hospitality, gardening and maintenance, bus and
transportation, Knights of Columbus, special events
teams, cafeteria helpers, office volunteers, money
counters, visiting the carebound, evangelization efforts,
Senior Shepherds, and Ladies Auxiliary.
YOU’RE NEEDED: The Parish Pastoral Council is
seeking three new adult members and a youth
member for terms beginning in July. The PPC is an
advisory body to the Pastor and meets monthly. The
PPC operates by consensus and members regularly
communicate with parish ministries to facilitate living
out our Parish mission: Love God, Love Neighbor,
and Make Disciples. If you are interested in serving
on the PPC, please contact Carmen Amato at 502-
229-2683 or [email protected].
PEACE AND JUSTICE VOLUNTEERS : The Peace
and Justice Ministries need volunteers to help cook and serve the poor, elderly, mentally and physically low
functioning individuals in our community. Volunteers
needed are leading and assisting cooks for cooking and
serving the hungry at ACCESS Soup Kitchen four days a month and every Saturday at the King’s Daughters
Apartments. Volunteers are also needed to gather and
deliver fresh produce, which would otherwise be wasted, to charities for distribution with the help of GleanKY to
nourish KY’s hungry. For more information, please

THE DIVERSE AND NUMEROUS GIFTS OF
THE HOLY SPIRIT : Pentecost Sunday is on June
9th
. Pentecost is the birthday of the Church, when the
Holy Spirit descended in His fullness with His seven
spiritual gifts and the numerous supernatural gifts
given to the first Apostles and to the first disciples.
The Scriptures, Roman Catholic Sacred Tradition, the
Magisterium and our past six Popes have
continuously endorsed and encouraged Catholic
disciples of Jesus today to believe in, virtuously seek
and exercise all the Gifts of the Holy Spirit as God
still generously gives them to the baptized today.
Begin praying now for an outpouring of the Holy
Spirit and for the renewal the Church and our own
parish this Pentecost. Note Father Dave Pivonka’s
quote from his Catholic formation video series
entitled, The Wild Goose (episode 6). This is an
intriguing and inspiring video series to explore.
“Many of the Gifts of the Holy Spirit are very familiar
to us (wisdom, counsel, piety, courage) while others
are somewhat foreign (healing, prophecy, tongues).
Whatever our experience, the Gifts of the Holy Spirit
is for ALL Christians, and no one should think the
gifts are not for them.” - Fr. Dave Pivonka
THIS WEEKEND: It’s Donut Sunday –
please join us in the PLC following the 9:30
Sunday Mass for donuts and healthy snacks…
and to say hello to your parish family
members and friends.
