Janet Ryan 2:00pm-3:00pmJanet Ryan is a recognizable namein Western Mass. She developed ataste for the blues while living inChicago, where she soaked up theblues in the juke joints of the northside for many years. Janet fre-
quented the Blues clubs and hung out with KokoTaylor, Magic Slim and Big Twist and The MellowFellows. She was invited to sit in with some greatplayers. Janet also had the great honor of singingwith Duke Ellington when she was only 16.

Our BBQ Contest is a compe��ve event thatis sanc�oned by the Kansas City BarbequeSociety and run by local KCBS representa-�ves. The contest is judged by KCBS cer�fiedBBQ judges. Contestants pay a fee to enterthe contest, and compete for cash prizeswhich are awarded based on vo�ng by the cer�fiedjudges. The highest scoring team is awarded the GrandChampion prize, and because the contest has been des-ignated as a “State Championship” contest, the winneris invited to compete at the American Royal Invita�onalCook-off in Kansas City the following year.
Most teams arrive on Friday night to set up camp andbegin the food prepara�on process. KCBS reps run thecontest in accordance with strict sanc�oning rules,which specify the type of meats cooked for presenta-�on, type of fuel used, when prepara�on begins, andeven garnishes used at presenta�on �me. On Saturday,a�er the meat inspec�on, teams spend most of the dayprepping their ribs, beef brisket, pork bu�, and chickenfor the slow overnight cooking process that produces allthat great smelling and tas�ng food. Unfortunately, be-cause of MA regula�ons, contestants are not allowed to
sell food to the public from their sites. However, in addi-�on to being a serious cooking compe��on, this is a so-cial event! The BBQ folks are passionate about theircooking and also a very friendly bunch, so plan to spend�me down in the camp and you’ll be sure to make somenew friends, learn a lot about BBQ, and have some fun.

Smokin BulldogsThey are a family BBQ Compe��on Teamfrom Groton, Mass. that started compe�ng in2012. Their BBQ Team consists of PitmasterMike, his wife Sharon, daughter Ka� & sonMikey. While they have no formal culinarytraining, they have a love for real good BBQ.There's a camaraderie & spirit in compe��on BBQ that is likenothing they've ever experienced. It's all about fun!!! The Pit FiendsThe Pit Fiends are Leah and Cris Shuldiner from Pel-ham NH and Chuck Chris�ansen from Melrose MA.They have been compe�ng since the autumn of2011. Although new to the compe��on scene,
the three have been smoking bbq for over 15 years for thedining pleasure of their friends and family.

That’s Our Que!That's Our Que! is a KCBS / NEBScompe��on BBQ team from Mon-roe, CT. The team is a group offriends who enjoy hanging out andcooking BBQ made up of its Pitmas-ter, Kris Yeager, Stuart "Brit in thePit" Monk, Guy "Face" Walker, as well as its sponsor, Larry Cass,owner of Glenro Spirit Shoppe located in Monroe, CT. The teamformed in late 2012 when they entered their first BBQ compe�-�on and walked away as Grand Champions. They have been com-pe�ng throughout New England for the past two years and havehad compe��ve results and success in individual categories atthe dozen or so events they have par�cipated in. They were run-ners-up for the 2013 NEBS Rookie Team of the Year and 2014 hasbeen the team's best year to date, with 7th place or be�er over-all finishes at each of its compe��ons. Eddie Bouquillon, founder andPit Master, believes “having a background in animal science anda grandfather that owned a diner a founda�on and a love forcooking, especially hos�ng pig roasts for friends and family. Asmore folk in New England began to experience a real pig roast,the word and the love spreads!”

The Snoring WarthogThe Snoring Warthog is based out of Quincy, MAand this is their first KCBS and NEBS compe��on.Dan and Kim live together with their dog Zoey,who is their biggest bbq fan. Dan is the pitmaster,and Kim is the assistant/ organizer. Ma� is Dan'sbrother and hails from York, ME. He has comealong to showcase his famous sausage, and assist in the BBQ aswell. Ma� works for John Hancock, and Kim is a Doctor of physi-cal therapy. Dan learned his cooking techniques from years in thehospitality industry. Zoey the dog rounds out the team. She hascome along to accept any and all le�over brisket or pork bu�from other teams, and is not at all a tough cri�c. They are here tohave fun, enjoy the fall, and most of all enjoy the BBQ.
Fire Down BelowEd & Ginny Roach are the 2 team memberscomprising Fire Down Below Compe��onBBQ Team from Mansfield, MA. They startedthe team in 2013 and are in their first full sea-son of compe��on BBQ this year. They arethe "2014 Rookie Team of the Year" for NEBS.They have competed in 9 compe��ons to
date and they were able to get a "Reserve Grand Championship"at the 3rd compe��on they competed in at The Polish Hungry forQue BBQ Bash in Gardner, Massachuse�s. They won our first"Grand Championship" in their 5th compe��on at the Rockin'Ribfest compe��on in Merrimack, New Hampshire. This win gavethem the invite to compete in the "26th Annual Jack Daniel'sWorld Championship Invita�onal Barbecue Compe��on" inLynchburg, Tennessee later in October.
Four Smoking GuysFour Smoking Guys is based out ofRhode Island and made up of Neil,Jim, and Mike. Yes, you countedright- there are only three of them.They started their smoking team last year with 4, but a�er onemember quit they were le� with three. This is their first full yearof compe�ng in smoking contests.
Smokin’ Hoggz BBQThe Smokin' Hoggz BBQ Compe��onteam was started in 2008 and is basedout of Abington, MA. A�er a number ofyears of going to compe��ons, tweak-
