• As in any other place in the world, we have the 1st day of the year as an holiday.
• The term sheep’s jump is very common during the month of January, symbolizing the beggining of a new year and the end of winter.

• On January 6th, we usually sing the Janeiras (literally, the January ones) at each door (so as to get something in exchange) to celebrate the arrival of the Three Magi in Jerusalem.

• On May 1st, a nacional holiday, we celebrate the Worker’s Day.
• On the first Sunday of the month, it is Mother’s Day.

• The month of May itself is called the month of Mary and on May 13th catholics visit the Sanctuary of Fátima to make their promisses.
