San Juan Bosco School is an integrated school. We have Pre-School, Primary School, Secondary School and Sixth Form.

It’s been a bilingual school for almost seven years, and at Primary School and the 1st year of Secondary Education, the pupils study several subjects in English.

San Juan Bosco School has achieved 4-star recognition for Business Excellence (400+ points), based on the European Foundation for Quality Management (EFQM)

Our Principal, Jesús Calvo, tells us that our School belongs to the Salesian Sisters, an order founded by Saint John Bosco in 1872, with the help of Saint Maria Mazzarello.

The Salesian Sisters believe in the Preventive System of Education, which regards

education as a “matter of the heart”. There are three key

elements in the Preventive System:

reason, religion

and kindness

And at our school, they aim at educating the pupils to be “good Christians and honourable citizens”. Our school dates back to 1904, although it has been in our present building since 1944.

This is our Secondary School head teacher, Fernando Hernández. He is really nice with us!!

ago and we keep wonderful memories

of that time.

We are in the library. We love reading books here and sometimes we do our homework together.

Here we are with our classmates, in our classroom. It’s great being in our third year of Secondary School. We get on really well and have lots of fun together.

This is a very important place for our school. In our chapel, we join to pray on Friday, and hear mass sometimes.

• Salamanca is a Spanish city, capital of the province, and located in the community of Castilla y León.

• It has a population of about 150,000 inhabitants

• We love to live here all year, because there are many places where we can go with our friends. Let us tell you about them:

The Main Square in salamanca was built in 1729 to 1756, it is the political centre of the city and now it´s one of the most famous places in salamanca.

The main square in salamanca isn´t a perfect square (it´s an irregular cuadrilateral)none of its facades has the same measures.

There, everyone meets their friends, family… It is our typical meting point.

It took two centuries (XII-XIV) to build this cathedral. It was the first cathedral of Salamanca and is dedicated to St. María de la Sede.

• In this cathedral we can find a lot of chapels as: San Martín, San Salvador, Santa Bárbara, San Bartolomé.

• The New Cathedral is next to the Old Cathedral.

• It was constructed between the 16th and 18th centuries in two styles: Gothic and Baroque.

Anaya squareOne of the most beautiful and lively squares in Salamanca. It is always full of people enjoying outdoor activities, relaxing in the garden and enjoying the great historical framework in which it is located…





Anaya squareIt is great to relax: Sit in the green of its gardens and lose yourself in the sound of the Plaza Anaya… from the sound of the sparrows in the nests, to the murmur of conversations fixing the world, to the Spanish guitar improvising…

The New Cathedral is on the opposite side, and between both buildings there are gardens where there are always students sharing a sandwich and a talk about music or reading.





University of salamanca

Salamanca is the second oldest university in Europe after Bologna.The façade of the University is one of the most visited monuments of Salamanca.





University of salamancaThe façade is divided into three parts. In the lower part, there is an engraving of the king and queen of Spain at the time the University was built, Isabel and Fernando. On either side we can see vegetable, animal and geometric decoration.





• But the most attractive thing is the frog that we can see on one of the three skulls that there are in the façade.

• The legend says: students who find where the frog is, will pass their exams.






• In front of the main building, there is a square surrounded by other buildings. It is called the “Patio de Escuelas”, where we can appreciate different amazing engravings.






• The pontifical university is rooted in the thirteenth century of Collaboration Between the Pope and the King. It became an institution capable of combining Knowledge About man, society, nature, history and God.

• We go there, because “La Clerecía” is one of the most spectacular monuments

• The most important characteristic is that there are over 300 shells on the facade.

• In this moment there is a very important library.

• It has a famous legend I will tell you right now

• The legend says that under one of these shells a precious treasure is hidden. But, now the only treasure that it keeps is one of the best libraries in the city, with a lot of books.

• The bridge today is the result of several restorations. It was declared a Heritage Site in 1931 and a Cultural Site in 1998.

• The bridge was in operation until the early twentieth century. Today only pedestrians can use it.





One of the most beautiful things to see from the “Roman Bridge" is the fireworks in festivals.

Among its most notable decorative elements it includes, wonderful plants and trees, the wall, the Gateway Arch or the wishing well.

Its name refers to the two characters in the Renaissance play "La Celestina"

Madrid is the fourth rich city of europe after London , París and Moscow. It is an influential cultural centre and it has a lot of important museums like Prado museum, Reina Sofia museum…





Real Madrid football Team has won a lot of championships like the European championship and they celebrate it in the Cibeles Fountain.





cataluña• Cataluña is a Spanish region, located northeast of

the Iberian Peninsula

Its capital is the city of Barcelona






If you have the opportunity to travel to Cataluña, I recommend you to go to Barcelona.

Its the second most populated city in Spain. There you can find business buildings, shopping centers, parks and large social places, etc..

The two most famous and beautiful places of Barcelona are "La Sagrada Familia" and the House of Gaudi (Antoni Gaudi)





Barcelona is also very famous for its beach called “La Barceloneta, and it is also one of the longest and most traditional ones of the city and also the one that forgeign users prefer.





andalucia• Andalucia is an autonomous community of Spain

located in the south.






Huelva is a nice place for a holiday by the sea, where you can find all kinds of amenities.

The cuisine of the capital is based on products from the mountains and from the sea: meat and Ibérico ham and seafood and fish from the coast of Huelva.

Castilla la manchaIts capital is the city of Toledo.It is located in the centre of the Iberian Peninsula.

It is known as "the city of three cultures", having been inhabited for centuries by Christians, Jews and Muslims.

It is one of the most beautiful places of Spain full of mountains and green valleys.






One of the most important cities of Galicia is Santiago de Compostela. In this town the apostle Santiago was buried and his grave is visited by pilgrims from all over the world

During the way, pilgrims can rest in some villages and they can have lunch and sleep in some low cost hostels where they can meet people from all nationalities





In every village, pilgrims are given a credential. They must have all the credentials to obtain the Compostela when they arrive at Santiago.

The Compostela is the reward for such a long trip.





In Santiago de Compostela, the apostle Santiago was buried and his grave is visited by pilgrims from all over the world





In Spain we can find many turistic and attractive places, but my favorite is Valencia and Murcia, on the Mediterranean Sea.





murciaIn Murcia we can find its great monuments. It's primarily a city of industries, but like all cities, there is agriculture.

The most important monument is its cathedral.

• The Community of Cantabria is just an extension of 5,300 square kilometers.

• It has the climatic differences, fauna and vegetation of a vast region.






Santander

The Cantabrian capital, Santander, is situated in a beautiful bay, which holds a large maritime port





A few kilometers from the city is Santillana del Mar, with its beautiful town streets and medieval houses, are the famous prehistoric caves of Altamira, declared Heritage of Humanity by UNESCO

extremaduraIt has two provinces: Cáceres and Badajoz.It has around 1.000.000 inhabitants. Its capital is Mérida.Its economy is characterized by the natural resources and industries.It has a high and irregular relief.

Hervás is a village in Cáceres.I has a soft continental climate.It is in a valley, and near a river.It has more than four thousand inhabitants.Gastronomy: The Iberian pig.

I like Hervás, because it is a village in the mountains and is surrounded with beautiful forests. There you can do a lot of activities: riding a horse, walking routes, going to a natural swimming pool, etc.





The canary islandsThis is a Spanish archipelago located just off the northwest coast of mainland Africa






TenerifeThere is a volcano on Tenerife, Teide:

Its the highest point in Spain, the highest point above sea level in the islands of the Atlantic, and it is the third highest volcano in the world.





The balearic islandsThe Balearic

Islands are a group of islands which belong to Spain.

The capital is Palma de Mallorca.






There is a lot of vegetation and fauna in Mallorca. For example, we can find:

If you like parties you should come to Ibiza, one of the Balearic islands, but you must be older than 18 to have a very good time: ibiza
