5th Sunday of Lent Dear Sisters and Brothers, This is the last Sunday before the Palm Sunday, and two Sundays away from Easter Sunday. How fast the 40 days of Lent can pass, how much this simplicity of Lent is enjoyable. To keep things simple is good, to take care of ordinary everyday life, to find spiritual meaning through acts of prayer, through penance and sacrifice, through acts of kindness and generosity it all makes us more sensitive to the Lord, to others and to ourselves. Becoming more aware of God’s action in our life makes us happy and self fulfilling. Confessing our sins, admitting our need for being forgiven, humbly treating with God and men makes us better persons, makes us more lovable, with contrast to arrogance and pride, when we refuse the need for conversion towards the Lord. Each one of us can improve, each one of us can become closer to the Lord, each one of us can be more humble serving others, and all of it is the goal of Lent. To become more like Jesus in life, so we could be with him in heaven. As Jesus said: -I did not come to be served but to serve and to give my life as a ransom for many- these are very strong and humble words about Jesus’ way of doing things. We need to find similar ways, as Fr Frank Nelson said last Sunday - the small way - it is the way of the Saints, that by working hard they gave what they could for their own ransom and for ransom for others. Will we wait to be ransomed by Jesus and by others or will we join Him in saving others. Joining Jesus in his work of saving us sinners we need to apply his principles of mercy. As the woman in today’s Gospel was brought to Jesus for condemnation, so could we be brought to him for judgment as well, because who of us is without sin ? When the people in the Gospel became aware of their own sin so they all walked away from Jesus, and the only person that was forgiven is the woman. Jesus revealed his mercy to her and not to others. The others walked away with their own condemnation. They still needed to come back to Jesus and to ask to be forgiven and to stop judging and condemning others. Our goal is to find Jesus and to receive his mercy. We already know we are not without sin - we need forgiveness. As the ‘good Thief’ would say: “Jesus remember me when you come into your kingdom “ . We all have a need to cry out from our hearts those words, so that Jesus can affirm us, as He affirmed the ‘good Thief ‘ - “today with me you will be in paradise “, as He assured the woman in the Gospel - “neither do I condemn you. Go, and from now on do not sin anymore. “ In second reading we have seen how precious to Saint Paul is the knowledge of Christ. To possess Christ means everything to him, and nothing in this world can take his place. Having Christ we have everything. Jesus is the most precious gift that we may have in our hearts, and it is a gift that will make us eternal. Again, as Fr. Frank reminded us last Sunday: - to remember that the door of your heart opens from inside, - don’t forget to let Christ come into your heart and to become your guest and your gift most precious. Let’s turn our lives and hearts towards Christ today !!! God bless everyone always !!!

¡Volvamos nuestras vidas y corazones hacia Cristo hoy! Dios los bendiga a todos siempre.

Coming Home for Lent This Weekend– April 7th Guest Speaker

Mr. Robert Walsh– Catholic Author &

Public Speaker Following the 5:00p.m. Sunday

Mass in the lower Church. “To those whom much is given,

much is expected.” Luke 12:48

Come hear of Bob’s personal journey being diagnosed with

Neuroendocrine (NET) cancer and how with the power of prayer quite literally, miraculously, disappeared. What happen then was a miracle.

Come hear how the power of prayer continues to heal Bob, diagnosis after diagnosis, he has turn to God and the POWER OF PRAYER, and

oncologists have stated that after thoroughly reviewing all the scientific evidence and exhausting their extensive knowledge, they

reached the conclusion that what happened was, indeed, “an act of God...a miracle.”

THE POWER OF PRAYER DOES WORK, learn how.

Diocese of Rockville Center Presents Long Island Catholic Youth Day

On Saturday March 30, 2019, eight (8) of the members of the Haitian-American Youth group at St Anne’s, accompanied by the four (4) youth leaders were in attendance with hundreds of other young Catholics, at Anthony’s High School in Huntington, NY. The

event of the day was Long Island Catholic Youth Day. The theme “To the Heights.” The day consisted of songs, praise & worship, mass with Bishop Barres, and inspirational

messages regarding, penance, mercy and most importantly discernment. Spiritual guidance and learning how to decipher the voice of God amongst all the noise in life. And taking that voice and going “to the heights” by going above and beyond; in order to become the person

God has planned for us to be. We were reminded how well God the Creator knows each and every single one of us and not to limit ourselves as a result. So many of the speakers spoke of purpose; purpose of each life, no matter how long that life is or how short. We were all also reminded, how discernment helps us to look for and find God in the most unexpected circumstances.

The afternoon ended with the adoration of the Blessed Sacrament. Inspirational, enlightening, encouraging are the words that come to mind seeing so many young people

give themselves to Christ in that moment during the adoration. There was no holding back, no inhibitions; as everyone willingly brought their hearts, myself included, to the Lamb of God. It is safe to say after that that afternoon; everyone felt a sort of renewal that we could

take back to our everyday lives. A special thank you to Fr. Stan and Bertha for registering our group for

this wonderful event.
