April is going to be just as busy with lots of fun while doing it. Our Annual St. Patrick’s Day dinner was a remarkable success. Special thanks to the Committee Chair, Randy Burns, and our Cook Pete Root for doing a fabulous job preparing the corned beef meals and to our Volunteers for helping serve and helping all day. Your service is appreciated! Our roof got a temporary fix and because this is a temporary fix, we are holding two raffles to raise funds for it and to help grow our Lakeland Community College Scholarship Fund. Stop into Gunny’s Hall to get the details on a chance to win two firearms (FFL apply) and a K-Bar Fighting Knife being given away on Veteran’s Day 2021. The second raffle is for a chance to win a booze bucket given away on Memorial Day 2021. Great odds on both! I would like to send a special thank you to our Web Sergeant, Geoff Nicely. He is passing the torch as the web sergeant onto the new administration. I remember about 15 or so years ago when Geoff brought his proposal for the website to the Executive Committee. It was a lot to absorb at that time, but he proved he was the Marine for the job. He has spent countless hours keeping the website running for us and our members informed with word needing to be passed. We will surely miss you Geoff and I tip my hat for a job well done Sir. At our last membership meeting Andrew Lauer was nominated for the open Chaplain position which he graciously accepted and was voted in by our members. This month’s general meeting is on April 8, 2021 at 1900 hrs. At last month’s meeting we treated our members to a spaghetti dinner so there is no telling what we will have for food at this month’s meeting. We are still running the Hall special through the end of April 2021 so if you have not renewed your MCL membership this would be a wonderful time to do it.
