Legionnaires, Let me start by thanking everyone for stepping up for our “Early Bird” dinner. My sincere congratulations to Judy Martin for preparing a delicious meal, and the ladies of the Post that helped serve a hot and appetizing dish. “ank you” to everyone that stuck with us, while we accomplished the completion the roof repairs, the project is finished. Again, I can’t thank you, my “American Legion Family” for the support and all that we do together. Your vision and guidance has lead us through. We have had an “AWSOME” month of October, and we ended it with a great Halloween “Trick or Treat” for the community of Saint Cloud. Our volunteered members passed out candy, the Son’s grilled hamburgers and hot dogs, while the Auxiliary did two performances of an amazing “Witches Dance” routine in the street, for the youngsters and families. (See the back page for photos). November will start off with a lot of interesting functions and events. is year marks the 100th Anniversary for the ending of WWI that will be nationally honored on Veterans Day. We will be participating in the Veterans Day Parade on Nov. 10, at 10am, in the Historic Downtown Saint Cloud. Also on Nov. 16, is one of our biggest fundraiser Dinner, Show and Raffles for the “Auxiliary Emergency Fund” or A.E.F. is year it’s “Viva Las Vegas”. You do not want miss this event, hosted by the Auxiliary Unit 80. e Auxiliary has put so much time and pride into this, plus they have a special musical guest straight from Memphis, beginning at 8pm. I thank I know who it is…. Do you? Please Note: You can prepay for your dinners early, at the Post. I want to wish all of you a “Happy anksgiving”, please enjoy it with your families, friends and always be thankful. I’m thankful I have you. We have so much to be thankful for, but oſten we focus on a problem or a difficult situation we may be going through, that the blessings we have, and are receiving ,get put on the back burner and anger and frustration come spilling out of our mouth,even to the point of using the name of God or Jesus in vain. Instead, think of the following scriptures: “ Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, in everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus our Lord for you” (1 ess. 5:16-18).” Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth” ( Psalm 46:10). have stepped up and helped with Bar bingo, Roadkill, and our dinners. I want to thank Cindy Hoover and Skip Barnette for doing all the legwork to get our permit, so we could sell beer and liquor at the Pinktoberfest in

front of our Post on Saturday, Oct. 12. Big thank you to the entire American Legion

family for our event was a success. We also had a membership drive and passed out 6 applications for new members, for possibly a new Legionnaire, Auxiliary and a Junior member. Son’s of the American Legion sold hot dogs, hamburgers.

Becky Bastin and everyone has done an awesome job getting the baskets ready for Viva Las Vegas Auxiliary Emergency Fund to help our Auxiliary members in need. The big night is coming soon for Viva Las Vegas Night, Nov. 16, dinner at 5 pm and the party begins at 8 pm with Elvis.

Let’s not forget our awesome cook Judy Martin for all she does for us.

I want to give a huge shout out to the whole American Legion family at Post 80 donated the first round of items that were collected and taken to Palm Bay to be delivered to Panama City by Daryl and Charlotte Bass and Skip Barnette and Cindy Hoover. Unit 19 in Orlando and Lois Stachelrodt, Department Chaplain, also brought in items for the Hurricane Relief. Dennis Kirsch also gave a monetary donation of $100.00. We appreciate all that the American Legion Family does to help our Veterans and the Community.

Please note that the Auxiliary Roadkill has been changed to Nov. 10, due to Fall Conference.

Also, remember that we have Bar Bingo, every Sunday, from 2pm to 4pm. If you bring in a non-perishable food item, or unwrapped new toy, you will receive a free card. Bar Bingo is open to the public. Come out and support the American Legion Post 80, all proceeds from any of our events benifits our programs, community, and most importantly our Veterans and their families.

Greetings, Everyone! Thanks to all who participated in October’s Sons of the American Legion “Show Me The Money” (SMTM). Special thanks to Greg and Becky for preparing and serving the dinner. October’s SMTM will be held on November 17th. SMTM participants are encouraged to bring in Special Olympics Christmas Toys

for 10 to 20 year olds. Bringing in a toy one or more of these items will get you 1 Free Card with a paid card. We appreciate everyone’s donations as our Special Olympics Christmas party is just around the corner! The next SAL Meeting will take place on November 12th. All SAL members are encouraged to attend. We need your participation! We are considering making a donation to support a local youth baseball team. We would welcome everyone’s input as we make these types of decisions! On November 11th Veterans Day, we will hold a Cookout after St. Cloud’s parade; and in December our Special Olympics Christmas party in the Civic Hall. Please mark your calendar, we hope you will participate in SAL events. We are hoping that all our SAL members come out and support Squadron 80. We hope all SAL Members will participate in our upcoming SAL events including the Membership Meeting on September 10th. We also hope that all of our SAL members come out and support Squadron 80.

Greetings Riders, We are coming up on some busy events this Month. Starting with The American Legion Department of Florida’s annual Conference held on Friday and Saturday November 2nd and 3rd at the Renaissance Sea World. Charlotte and I plan on attending. Legion Riders General Session will be on Saturday November 3rd from 4:00 PM

to 6:00 PM. If your interested in the hearing what other ALR Chapters are doing across the State plan on coming. Tuesday November 6 is our Chapter 80 meeting. Plan on attending to receive our marching orders for the up coming Veterans Day Parade, Christmas Parade, Wreaths Across America, and our always good time Riders Road Kill. While on the bike and out for a little wind therapy be sure where you stop to invite Veterans and their families who you meet about the great works we do here at the American Legion Post 80 St. Cloud and of our need for them to join and become a Rider. Remember, “It’s for the cause, not for the applause”.

Membership REPORT As of 10/19, we have new/renewed 150 members. We are currently at 54.15%. Our goal set by Department and National is 277 members to reach 100%. We are short 127 members to reach that goal. So please continue to recruit new members and encourage others to renew or rejoin. National Commander, Brett Reistad, is giving a 2019 National Membership Excellence Pin to all Family Members who recruit 3

New Legionnaires. Each new member must be eligible for membership into the American Legion. National Auxiliary Membership is offering a Recruit/Rejoin Award for those members that Recruit/ Rejoin 5 new Auxiliary/Junior Members. Each recruiter will receive a special gift and will be entered in a $250.00 cash drawing from National. National Auxiliary is also offering a Silver Brigade Award to those (Auxiliary, Legion, and SAL) that recruit 25 or more new Auxiliary Members. So, remember when recruiting a new member, please put your name on the back of the Auxiliary Application, so that I can keep tract of the information. Also remember when signing someone into the Post for one of our activities, if they are eligible to members, Post, Sons, or Auxiliary, they can only be signed in three times.Thank you to all that assisted with the Family Membership Drive during Pinktoberfest and Halloween.

The Osceola County Veter-ans Council annual Veter-ans Day Parade will be in St. Cloud on Saturday, Nov. 10, at 10am Remember that the Down-town area is under construc-tion, the Parade will begin at the Lakefront and travel south on Pennsylvania Ave., turn west on 11th street past City Hall, turn south on New York Ave, turn east on 10th Street and travel to the church parking lots past Florida Ave. After the parade come back out to the American Legion as the Auxiliary will host it’s Road kill Bingo. Game starts at 7pm., dinner will be served at 5pm. Sauage and Green Pep-pers on a sub roll.
