THE MANKATO AREA FOUNDATION IS PROUD TO SUPPORT
THE MAGIC OF A SPECTACULAR HOLIDAY LIGHT DISPLAY Made possible with a legacy gift from Al and Erla Fallenstein through the Mankato Area Foundation.
The Mankato Area Foundation has helped shape our community since 1974 by providing a simple, powerful and highly personal approach to giving. The Foundation offers a variety of giving options to help people achieve their charitable goals and create lasting, impactful work in our community.

Introducing
The Mary Dotson Skating Rink
With a gift from the Mankato Area Foundation’s Dotson Family Fund,
a new ice skating rink has been added to the Kiwanis Holiday Lights.
“The constant in my mother’s life was the joy of being surrounded by kids. One of the ways she chose to do
that was by providing a skating rink—for nearly 50 years—next to her home in west Mankato. The skating rink
was her opportunity to interact with neighborhood children and watch them grow. My mother would be very
pleased, as are all of her children and grandchildren, with a skating rink in her memory at
Sibley Park—especially a rink that doesn’t need flooding and can be used on the warmest of winter days!
I hope this community, and its visitors, will enjoy the Mary Dotson Skating Rink for years to come.”
- Denny Dotson – Mary’s son
SHAPING OUR COMMUNITY. FOR GOOD.

Year Two, More Lights, More Fun…
I would like to start my letter this year by saying thank you to everyone who made our inaugural year such a huge success! We were able to collect just over 13 tons of food for 12 area food shelves and donate close to $30,000 back to the nonprofit groups that helped us .
Last year we were open 39 nights for a total of 168 hours of operation, and 53 nonprofit groups helped with setup, tear down, and nightly operation hours . As a result, over 30,000 vehicles and 100,000 people enjoyed the Lights .
This year we are pleased to partner with the Mankato Area Foundation on the addition of the Mary Dotson Skating Rink . This synthetic ice rink will truly offer a unique experience . Ice skating under the lights will surely be memorable, no matter what the temperature is .
We have also included a walking tunnel that will complement the driving tunnel, and both will be choreographed to the Dancing Lights area . In addition, the “Santa’s Toy Company” display comes to us from the Winter Wonderland display in Blue Earth, MN . We have been working very hard to convert the entire display to LED lights so we can continue the tradition of being energy efficient .
As always, Santa and his reindeer will be in the park again for children of all ages to enjoy .
Once again, I’d like to thank you for your support on behalf of the Kiwanis Holiday Lights Board of Directors . Please enjoy your time in the park, and please come back as often as you would like!
