Overview

The Dongfeng Motor Group is primarily engaged in the manufacture and sale of commercial vehicles, passenger vehicles, auto engines and parts, the design and manufacture of vehicle manufacturing equipment, finance businesses as well as other automotive-related businesses.

The Dongfeng Motor Group Company Ltd. has currently 14 subsidiaries, jointly-controlled entities and other companies in which the Company has direct equity interests, together forming The Dongfeng Motor Group. The Group has manufacturing JV's with Honda, Nissan, Kia, the PSA Group and Cummins Engines.

In 2009 the Dongfeng Motor Group had blended sales (cars, trucks and buses) of more than 1.4 million units, reaching a year over year growth of 35%; cars sales reached more than 1.0 million units and commercial vehicles sales close to 400 thousand units.

According to the statistics published by the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers, the Dongfeng Motor Group has an overall market share in their domestic market of approximately 11,5% in terms of the total sales volume of commercial and passenger vehicle manufacturers in the PRC. Market share of total number of cars produced by the group in their domestic market reached in 2008 10,8% The Dongfeng Motor Group has the number one position in the large Chinese market for commercial vehicles and number three position in the global CV market after Daimler Benz and the Volvo Group. Consequently, the Dongfeng Motor Group has a solid position in the industry and plays a leading role in sectors, such as trucks and buses.

The Dongfeng Kangba is a reliable, powerful and fuel efficient light duty truck for city and intercity logistics; powered by Cummins' leading engines of 140-160 hp.

DF Bus & Coach

The Bus & Coach units of Dongfeng developed a comprehensive range of modern mini-, midi- and large buses for city and intercity public transport as well as luxury coaches to respond to and anticipate its customers' requirements. High quality, fashionable appearance, reliable safety, economic value and comfortable driving are the widely appreciated features. Dongfeng buses are available in several lengths between 6 and 10 metres with a passenger capacity of 23 up to 42 seats.

Dongfeng buses are supplied with several strong four cylinder Cummins turbo diesel and CRD technology engines that takes power from 122hp (300nm) to 320hp, while 1200Nm of torque is delivered from as low as 1700 rpm. The new 6.5 litre engine delivers its outstanding performance through a precise-shifting six-speed transmission. Bus versions are exclusively available with rear air suspension improving ride comfort and steady chassis height regardless of load conditions.

In addition Dongfeng has developed a series of new diesel, CNG and dual-fuel type engines for their buses. Further Dongfeng offers off-road buses with 4x4/ 6x6 drive, fine off-road performance and maneuverability, convenient operation and excellent functions. They have become optimal transportation equipment widely used under wilderness or bad road condition.

The Dongfeng light trucks and heavy duty tractors are equipped with reliable Cummins engines produced by Dongfeng Cummins Engine Co. Ltd.

Dongfeng Cummins Engine Co., Ltd. is a joint venture company between Dongfeng (China) and Cummins Co., Ltd. (USA).

Main products manufactured by the joint venture are the Cummins designed midrange mechanical and electronic engines (B\C\L series), natural gas engines (B series). Engine displacement will cover 3.9L\5.9L\8.3L\8.9L, with engine power ranging from 100- 400hp.

This power range very adequately covers a wide variety of automotive applications, including pickup trucks, medium and heavy-duty trucks, buses, as well as industrial and construction equipments, generator sets, marine and agricultural machinery.

Cummins Corporation is the global market leader with major successes in product development, design, manufacturing & sales of diesel and CNG engines. Dongfeng Motor Group is one of the largest commercial vehicles manufacturers in China. Dongfeng Cummins joint venture will benefit from strong support from Cummins global production and service systems in product development, manufacturing, quality & management, etc; therefore a strong committment to provide an excellent product to our customer.

with worldwide warranty and service

Dongfeng Northstar

Dongfeng agreed to a warranty of at least 100.000 km or 12 months (which reaches first) for vehicles under normal driving condition. Dongfeng and Northstar will nominate in each country one or more by Dongfeng approved service and logistic centers which will warehouse an important number of parts.

For small repairs these service centers will take actions immediately, however for larger repairs or replacements, the service center must inform the after sales service department of Dongfeng Northstar Europe before any actions taken, and provide quality status proofs including pictures of quality status, quality status description, proposed solution etc. Dongfeng Northstar Europe after sales department should reply within 48 hours upon receiving the quality status report and should have sent if needed spare or replacement parts by airfreight to the specific location.

The after sales department of Dongfeng Northstar Europe will coordinate the entire warranty process; final accountability will be with the Dongfeng Motor Group.
