opportunities:
• Athletic Coaches
• Rec Center Volunteers
• Special Events
• Volunteer Groups
Upcoming volunteer opportunities Teen Centers
• Volunteers are needed to monitor space and
approximately twenty teens during free play hours;
facilitate sign-in process; teen supervision and general
assistance.
• Volunteers must be 18 years of age or older.
Teen Sports League
• July 18th-Septemeber 3rd
• Locations: Joe W. Brown, Treme, and Behrman,
Lyons, Treme, and Rosenwald Rec Centers
• Volunteers are needed to assist with score-keeping,
registration, and logistics.
Family Game Night

• Volunteers are needed to assist with supervision and
games.
Certs for Service
• Certs for Service is a program which offers lifeguard
certification in exchange for volunteer hours.
• Volunteers will assist with Open Canoeing at Joe W.

#SWAAG | Something Wonderful about being an Athletic Girl

To attract and engage girls ages 5-14 the Athletics
Division has launched SWAAG! SWAAG is a program that looks into the psycho-
social factors that influence girls participation in
sports. Through monthly activities and events girls
will be exposed to opportunities where they will
learn about athletic development, leadership,
responsibility, accountability, good sportsmanship,
and confidence. Each month will have a dedicated theme: • August: Awareness
• September: Show your Selfie
• October: Open Up
• November: Notable
• December: Dedicated
August’s activities will focus on the various
health/wellness and body image issues that affect young
girls today.
