What a wonderful year this has been, so full of friendship and joy, water and fun, adventure and mishap. I have had a great time at the helm this year, watching our yacht club move forward with strength and solidarity. We have a great leadership in the wings for next year, with Paul Henriksen, taking over as Commodore, Brian Krantz as Vice Commodore and Mike North as our new Rear Commodore. To have Mike join the board is really perfect. He will be wonderful in helping to guide us through the year ahead. That brings me to our Commodore’s Christmas Party at the Community Center on Friday, December 16th, beginning with cocktail hour at 6:00 pm. (See page 3 for the official reservation form for you to complete with your menu choices.) This is an important and joyful party—important because we pass the baton to our next group of officers, and joyful because we’re all together and it’s Christmas! Here’s my last song for the year, by the “Good Lovelies”. They’ve been to Lopez twice. If you haven’t seen them, it’s well worth it.. I hope to get them here again next year. NEW MEMBERS ACTIONS: John and Susie McLeod were welcomed as new members by Commodore Lane Langford at the November General Membership Meeting. John and Susie hail from Seattle and have recently become “part timers” on Lopez. John has been sailing all his life and met Susie as crew members preparing for the Olsen 30 Nationals back in 1993. They bought their first sailboat together even before their first home. As John puts it, “We traded up from ‘beautiful bright work’ to ‘performance plastic’ and have sailed Tribute our Erickson 38 from South Sound to

Barclay Sound, the Broughtons, Desolation and pretty much all points in between.”

Both John and Susie are still working, Susie as an IT Consultant and John as an analyst for the commercial nuclear power industry. John has been active in CYC Edmonds including serving as Commodore. They have two grown sons and are looking forward to meeting LIYCrs, developing friendships, and sharing boating fish tales.

Jim Lombard of Whiskey Hill fame has applied for LIYC mem-bership. Jim has been sailing his Pearson Vanguard 32 named Vivian for about three years and says he is still learning.
