HOLOGRAPHY = HOLOS+GRAPHO

The term holography is from Greek words - holos means "whole" and gramma / grapho means "message“, that means complete record of the image (WHOLE IMAGE).

It is the art or process of making 3-Dimensional of an object using a hologram.

A complete information can be recorded on a photographic film and the resulting recorded film is called a “hologram”.

The electronic systems that transmits or receives analog signal to encode the phase and amplitude information as signals & to decode the signals as real time 3-D information.

Thus the phenomenon known as Holographic Communication.

INTRODUCTION

History of Holography communication Invented by DR DENNIS GABOR

in 1947.

Development in this field was stifled during the 1950’s because light sources were not coherent.

This barrier was overcome in 1960 with the invention of laser whose pure, intense light was ideal for making holograms.

• Holography denotes the techniques and tools of capturing and "replaying" the three-dimensional light information that reflects from illuminated objects in two stage processes:-

1. Generation/recording of hologram.

2. Reconstruction of hologram.

First of all, light/laser incident on the mirror via to beam spreader lens ,it splits beam into two 2 parts.

One of the beam reflects directly on photographic plate known as reference beam.

Other beam illuminated on the object known as object beam reflects on photographic plate which interferes with the reference beam & produce an interference pattern on it.

2. RECONSTRUCTION OF HOLOGRAM When the hologram is

illuminated by the reference beam alone, it is undergoes the diffraction phenomenon.

The light illuminating the hologram comes from the side opposite the observer.

Thus reproducing the original surface pattern of the object in three dimensions.

The eye sees the original subject in three dimensions even though the material object is no longer present.

The famous hologram "The Kiss"shows a sequence of

similar, stationary images. Your eye sees many frames

simultaneously, and your brain interprets them as moving images.

High storage capacity- up to 1 Tb(1000 GB).

Easily & fast access of data.

High data transfer rates,1-10 GB per second.

The freedom to adjust many more parameters in a transmission hologram makes them a more powerful tool.

Image views in different angles.

Hard to establish “controls.

Laser light illumination is dangerous to the human eye .

Very powerful laser needed for projecting large holograms

At high magnification (a 1 mm by 0.7 mm view),

one plate can generate 30 Terabytes of raw

data.

A darkroom is needed to record an object image.

High cost of holographic product.(Photographic

plate –expensive).

Holographic communication has endless applications, as far as the human mind can imagine.

It does not only deal with art or business communication, but it is also concerned about security, safety, education, planning & the strength of our civilization here & beyond.

From entertainment to data visualization we can see a bright future for Holographic communication.

In short, we can say that Holographic communication can play vital role in our civilizations as well as human societies.
