Lake Painting and Papering, LLC is a family owned company, which was started in 1975 by Kerry Lake, Sr. as an extension of his work in ministry as the head pastor of the Union Mills Christian Church in New Sharon.
Kerry’s youngest son, Alan, began working with the company in 1987 as a young boy doing small jobs such as helping with clean up and organizing tools. He continued working in the family business throughout high school and college, learning valuable managerial
and technical skills while developing customer relations. In 2010, Alan took over the day-to-day operations of the business and transitioned it from a sole proprietorship to an S corporation.
Lake Painting’s reputation as a top quality painting company with highly regarded owners/employees, combined with Alan’s vision for the business, have helped Lake Painting to see signiicant growth in recent years—both in areas covered and the number of new and repeat customers. Lake Painting now works with over 12 builders and contractors in the area in addition to residential and commercial customers.
Ater Hours Archery is a small, family-operated business. Jef Greenhalgh, Bill Goodman, and Jesse Greenhalgh are the father and sons’ entrepreneur team that felt the need for a full-service archery facility here in Oskaloosa.
Jef shared,“We followed our dream and have now been open for business just over two years. We pride ourselves on quality service and spending the time needed to ensure we can make you and your archery equipment work at peak eiciency. We are a fully-stocked archery retail store and Pro shop, focusing exclusively on archery shooting and hunting supplies. All owners are certiied archery technicians for your archery equipment service needs.”
So, if you are interested in trying archery for the irst time or are requiring something as basic as a bow inspection or tune-up for your existing equipment, they can help you. If you require a full, custom set up for your bow, they can help you in this area as well, with bow balancing or spine tuning your arrows. “What makes us stand out from the big box stores is that we spend the time it takes to fully set up each bow to it and address each individual customer’s needs,” added Greenhaulgh.

Based out of New Sharon, Lake Painting serves central and southeastern Iowa with the majority of customers in Grinnell, Newton, Oskaloosa, Montezuma, and Pella, and some as far away as Cedar Rapids, Des Moines, and Kansas City, Kansas.
