Community Disaster Relief Fund for Boles Fire Disbursement Report In response to the September 2014 Boles Fire in Weed, CA, the Community Foundation established the Community Disaster Relief Fund. The fund was started with a gift from the Stewardship Endowment Fund and provided assistance to the families, nonprofits and organizations impacted by the Boles Fire in Weed. Because the Community Foundation has a credible history of helping Siskiyou County nonprofits and organizations, monetary assistance was delivered efficiently and effectively toward the recovery of the community of Weed in a process developed by local volunteers of the Weed Long Term Recovery Group. As of September 2017, three years after the fire, all funds have been disbursed as recommended by the local grant review committee. With respect to other natural disasters that may affect the Community Foundation's service areas, the fund shall remain in place in order to provide future assistance tied to a specific event, should the need arise. 100% of donated funds for the Boles Fire went directly to costs associated with recovery efforts. No fees were assessed by the Community Foundation.

Community Disaster Relief Fund for Boles FireDisbursement Report

In response to the September 2014 Boles Fire in Weed, CA, the Community Foundation established the Community Disaster Relief Fund. The fund was started with a gift from the Stewardship Endowment Fund and provided assistance to the families, nonprofits and organizations impacted by the Boles Fire in Weed.

Because the Community Foundation has a credible history of helping Siskiyou County nonprofits and organizations, monetary assistance was delivered efficiently and effectively toward the recovery of the community of Weed in a process developed by local volunteers of the Weed Long Term Recovery Group. As of September 2017, three years after the fire, all funds have been disbursed as recommended by the local grant review committee.

Total Received in Community Disaster Relief Fund - Boles Fire

$641,356.97

Funds have been distributed from the Community Disaster Relief Fund in the form of grants to local nonprofits and government agencies. Requests were reviewed and approved by staff of Shasta Regional Community Foundation, the Executive Committee of the Weed Long Term Recovery Group, and approved by the Board of Directors of Shasta Regional Community Foundation. $ 30,600.00 Mt. Shasta Community Resource Center - 36 computers for Weed students identified through case management -at the recommendation of an anonymous donor – 12/1/14

$ 600.00 Great Northern Services - Assist women led houses with recovery purchases at the recommendation of Soroptimist International of Ashland - 3/25/15

$100,000.00 City of Weed - Regrading and drainage restoration of city blocks - as designated by Dignity Health thru the Red Cross – 7/27/15
