Methods
This study uses a literature study approach. This data collection method is
used to trace historical data (Bugin, 2008 p. 121).
Data collection in research is obtained from journals, books, news, and
proceedings. The data that has been obtained are then analyzed using
descriptive analysis methods.
Findings and Discussion
Waste Problem Solution
1. Familiarize yourself with good waste disposal methods ranging from household environments to
Temporary Waste Dumps (TPS) using special plastic waste.
2. Organizing Temporary Waste Dumps (TPS) into a more productive utilization center for organic
and inorganic waste.
3. Making the remaining organic and inorganic waste into biogas raw materials or other things that
can be made through the waste residue
4. This community-based waste management program is very effective in breaking the chain of
waste distribution from Temporary Waste Dumps (TPS) to landfills (TPA).
5. Creating new businesses at the community level, which in turn can manifest community
independence in managing their own waste wisely.

Old Pattern of waste disposal. New concept of waste disposal
The problem of waste that never ends has created groups that care about the environment
in various regions in Indonesia. This movement was born as a form of responsibility and
concern for a group of Indonesians towards the waste problem in Indonesia. This activity
gave birth to many institutions called “Bank Sampah".
Many bank sampah are increasingly developing in terms of community empowerment and turn their
areas as waste-free areas and even become tourist attractions

Conclusion
Data has shown that Indonesia is one of
the largest waste-producing countries in
the world, especially plastic waste.
Various programs have been made by the
government to overcome this problem, but
in practice this is still far from what is
expected. But on the other hand, there are
many people who care about the
environment so that environmental
movements and communities are born so
that they are moved to create an institution
called “Bank Sampah" which has been
quite widely spread throughout Indonesia
and some even transformed into a waste-
free area. The activities carried out are
also very interesting and creative. Organic
and inorganic waste is processed into
something that is of sale value and even
some handicrafts have been exported to
other countries.
These phenomena should be an opportunity for
the government to support movements that are
born from the community with budget assistance
and continue to seek synergies and approaches
with various institutions or community leaders
involved in providing education and community
empowerment regarding awareness and
independence of waste organizations into
valuable products and high selling value. In
addition, in overcoming the problem of solid
waste, it is also a very good opportunity for the
government to improve the community's
economy through the creative craft industry
made from waste.
