LILLY MATCH—AN OPPORTUNITY FOR CELEBRATING AND GIVING The Community Foundation of Randolph County continues to grow and benefit the residents of Randolph County. Since its beginning in 1993, the Foundation has grown in total assets to nearly $9 million representing 137 funds, thanks in large part to the Lilly Endowment. In the past 20 years, Lilly Endowment has provided matching opportunities to enable Indiana foundations to grow and serve their communities. Randolph County has benefitted through Lilly matching grants as well as from development grants and intern support. In July, Lilly Endowment, Inc. announced GIFT Phase VI, an effort to promote sustainable and effective community foundations in Indiana. This initi- ative consists of grants to each county in Indiana to make matching grants avail- able. The amount received is based on the population of the county. Randolph County has received $500,000 in matching grant dollars to grow funds and en- hance strategic granting throughout our county. This is truly a reason to cele- brate. Gifts to the Community Enrichment Fund or a new or existing unrestrict- ed endowment fund will be matched dollar for dollar. Gifts to a restricted en- dowment fund, such as a scholarship fund, will be matched one dollar for every two dollars. Gifts qualifying for matching funds must consist of irrevocable con- tributions of cash or property which can include marketable securities, cash equivalent and real property including the present value of irrevocable deferred gifts. Multi-year pledges are also matchable as long as each gift is received by the Community Foundation before March 31, 2016. The Community Foundation Enrichment Fund provided over $357,500 in grants during the past seven years to support the work of non-profit organiza- tions serving Randolph County, and for projects and programs of benefit to Ran- dolph County residents. Have you considered opening a fund at the foundation to ensure your charitable giving for years to come? Now is the perfect time to open a fund and maximize your gift. Opening an unrestricted fund means the Grants Committee of the Foun- dation will determine the recipients of grants and the donor has no control over the grant awards. A restricted fund is one designated for a specific purpose, i.e. Scholarships, etc. To learn more about this opportunity contact the Foundation at 765.584.9077. Winter 2014 Confirmed in compliance with National Standards for U.S. Community Foundations.
