Grants will be calculated based on the actual estimated length of hedging/trees which needattention rather than on the length of road which is incorporated in the road network submittedin an application. Where hedging/trees on both sides of a particular section of road needattention, the length to be included in the grant calculation will be doubled.

All hedges to be cut should be inspected for Japanese Knotweed and Ash Die-Back. These plantsshould not be cut.

All hedge cutting must be carried out between 1st September and 28th February each year.

No grant applications will be accepted after 31st October 2019. The area proposed for Hedge Cutting must be agreed in advance with the relevant Municipal

District Co-ordinator Roscommon County Council. Contact details are listed below. Where hedgecutting does take place without the prior approval of Roscommon County Council, a grant will notbe awarded to the applicant.

Works for which grant approval is confirmed must be completed in the same season. No grant will be paid out until the Council is satisfied that all hedge/tree cutting required along

the network proposed in the application is completed to the required standard. Each local community/group must nominate a contact person through whom all

correspondence will be channelled. Each local community/group will undertake works and organise relevant hedge cutting

contract and pay for same.

carried out in advance of the grant application being considered.

Hedges should be cut to the appropriate height, width and shape consistent with both roadsafety objectives and best practice hedge row management. Where there is direct conflictbetween the two, road safety requirements will take precedence. Branches overhanging theroadway should be cleared to a minimum height of 5.2 metres. On footpaths there must be aclearance to a height of 2.1 metres.

Any application submitted without the required accompanying map identifying the roads towhich the application refers will be returned.
