Medical Amnesty
Medical Amnesty is:• Granted only when someone proactively seeks
help for self or others
• Granted only when the calling party stays with
the student experiencing the emergency until
medical assistance arrives
• Available for assessment of health & well-being
due to the use of alcohol AND/OR drugs
• A way to connect the student receiving medical
assessment/treatment with resources – requires
a meeting with OPEN
• Typically shared with parents/guardians
• Available to the caller as many times as
necessary
Medical Amnesty is not:• Granted when students are found by employees
doing their job
• Typically granted more than once to the student
needing medical attention
• A disciplinary record and is not shared on
history checks
