AFAP ISSUES EDUCATION CENTER

Issue: College Students struggle with classes like math and science, online tutoring is not helpful. Scope: Math and Science classes are complicated and at times tutor.com does not assist in these courses. Visual courses, hearing something or reading it in a chat room is inefficient.Recommendation: Fort Drum needs to have a tutoring program -whether it be paid for or on a volunteer basis to help the adult learners in the community to academically succeed. If volunteers cannot be properly outsourced, look into partnering with Jefferson Community College. Issue Status: Army Education at Fort Drum is working the issue. However, the agreements between schools providing education to Soldiers, Familymembers, and DoD civilian employees requires that the school provide tutoring as part of their support to these students; as they provide to the students on their main campuses. Additionally, It would be difficult for a single school to provide tutors for subjects not in their curriculums.
