Previous Minutes:

Sherry Mitchell made a motion to approve the January 2016 minutes as are and Priscilla Steed seconds.

Dr. Maria Rose:

Enrollments are up about 4% from last year. For the fall semester, inquiries are up 18%, applications are up 20%, and admits

are up 22%. Campus Visitation Day is scheduled for April 22, 2016 The housing project is right on track, with the completed date by July 15, 2016.

The roofs are being put on buildings 1 & 2 and the last floor is being put on building 3.

Legislative Session is over on March 12, 2016. Cross-over day is March 2, 2016. There are quite a number of interesting bills being proposed.

Abolishing the HEPC for Community Colleges (may come back around) Guns on Campus And more

House Finance – 6.5% cuts on top of the 4% (which would mean almost a million dollar cut for Higher Ed). This could possibly happen at the beginning of the new FY.

OASIS conference calls still occur weekly. Still no definite date to go-live. Rick Porto is still working 3 days per week in Charleston with the OASIS team.

Mercer Study – Cindy Curry has reviewed and identified some issues. Will bemoving from 25 to 12 classifications. The cost is around $1,800,000 to performthe study. Trying to figure where this money will come from.

Athletics – Men’s Basketball team is doing very well. They have been invited tothe Mountain East Conference March 3-5. The Women’s team will need to playtheir way in to the conference. Hoping the men get a bid in to the NCAA regionals.

Baseball team is doing well also. Alumni event being held on April 25, 2016 at Bridgeport Complex. May 14, 2016 Commencement – Skip Tarasuk will be the speaker.

Dr. Chris Lavorata:

Faculty and Administrators are helping to interview incoming freshmen who areeligible for the McClain scholarship. This is a full-ride scholarship. Three studentswill be chosen.

The BOG Academic Affairs Committee will meet with program chairs in March togo over program reviews of seven of our majors. All programs are reviewed everyfive years.

The Faculty Personnel Committee is reviewing applications for promotion andtenure.

The Faculty Development Committee is observing nominees for teaching awards. We are searching for permanent Deans in the School of Education and the College

of Science and Technology. Seven faculty and Dr. L. will attend an HEPC meeting in April to continue working

on co-requisite, support courses for Math and English. The SGA hosted a phone-a-thon last week and got a lot of issues to the

legislatures. Commend Meagan Gibson for hosting this event where over 30students attended.

Dr. Jack Kirby:

Cindy Curry will now be out until around April 1, 2016. Many items on the agenda at the monthly HR conference calls, however, the most

talked about is the Mercer Study. OASIS – the Kronos time clock is experiencing problems, not sure of go-live date. Grad Studies Fair had a good turn-out. Had 31 students who showed an interest.

May restructure the time for next year, as there were some downtimes. ALICE training – Officers willing to come to individual offices to provide training

or give suggestions. Working with Sandy Corwin to provide training for “green zones”. Safe places for

Vets to come to.

Holly Fluharty (BOG Rep):

Shared info from the email from Harry Baxter concerning House & Senate billsbeing proposed. (see attached) Shaded areas are the bills that are moving.

Sent an email to George Herrick, Kathy Cox, and Chris Daniels to get a meetingscheduled about the CS Scholarship.

Would like to see an email blast go out about good things going on around campus,such as the phone-a-thon event. Dr. Rose said that Ann Mazza could include inthe FSU Now or it can be added to the Falcon Flyer.

Sherry Mitchell (ACCE Rep):

Talked about all the proposed bills surfacing. Meeting with Trish Clay and Bruce Cottrill soon about Mercer study.

Fundraisers:

Blue Jean Wednesday’s – Dalene Horner will be sending an email out this week tolet everyone know that we will have this in March.

Only sold around 5 cookbooks at the games. Need to come up with another idea.Holly Fluharty mentioned working at a craft fair. Need to ask Amy to send anotheremail out letting folks know we have more cookbooks.

Dr. Rose asked for 20 cookbooks to take with her to the next Foundation BoardMeeting on March 7, 2016.

New Business:

The Classified Staff Luncheon will be held on April 13, 2016. The luncheon will befor Fairmont & Pierpont Classified Staff. The menu will include a potato bar, soup,and salad and will be held in Colebank. Dr. Rose will stress the importance ofRSVP’ing!

Holly Fluharty made a motion to adjourn meeting at 3:15pm, Chris Daniels seconds.
