Why
Recycle?
Excavation showing soil contamination ata disused gasworks.
Care to guess how manypounds of pesticides theNation used in 1964?How about in 1993?
National use of pesticidesgrew from about 540 million
pounds in 1964 to about1.1 billion pounds in 1993.
FACT: The effects of past and presentland-use practices may take decades tobecome apparent in ground water.
FACT: Pesticides are mostly modernchemicals. There are many hundreds ofthese compounds, and that leads us toask just how concerned we should be
about their presence in our drinkingwater.
