The LED System comprises of various elements on which need to work in
harmony to drive the best results. At COMPACT, we ensure that all these
components work seamless to define the best performance
Components of LED System
LED: Good quality LED is defined by the following parameters
•Lumen depreciation: At COMPACT we use LED with high Lumen maintenance ensuring
that Lumen depreciation is not more than 30% over the rated life of the LED. These are
certified under the IES LM-80 standards
•High Lumen efficiency: LED with high lumen output are used to ensure higher lux in the
fixture
•Consistent binning: LED colour and quality consistency is ensured through effective
binning.
Components of LED System
Electrical: Good Electrical circuit is the backbone of the LED system
•Optimum Input Current: Operating LEDs at high electrical currents creates higher heat
levels which compromise the lifetime of the LED. Optimum input current ensures long
lifespan of LED. Our circuit design ensures that the LED is driven at optimum current
levels.
•Withstand Surge voltage: Electrical circuit can be the weakest link in the LED system if
its not able to withstand surge Voltage which routinely inflicts the Indian power system.
Our circuit design ensures that the electrical system is able to withstand double phase
voltage without failing or affecting the LED.
Components of LED System
Mechanical/Thermal: Proper Thermal management for enhanced LED lifespan
•Heat Sink: A heat sink is a passive heat exchanger that cools a device by dissipating heat into the
surrounding medium.
•In COMPACT fixtures aluminium fins maximize the surface area in contact with the cooling medium-
air.
•Thermal Interface: Heat sink attachment methods and thermal interface materials also affect the die
temperature of the integrated circuit. We use high quality Thermal adhesive which improves the heat
sink's performance by filling air gaps between the heat sink and the device.
•Pure Aluminium Fixture: Aluminium fixture helps conduct part of the heat generated by chip to the
forebody of lighting fixture . We use high thermal conductivity aluminium which has 50% higher thermal
conduction property.

LED Vs OTHERS Technical comparison
WHY LED IS THE BEST TECHNOLOGY FOR STREETLIGHT
1) Luminaire/ System efficiency2) Ballast and Driver efficiency3) Scotopic superiority4) Lumen Maintenance5) Uniformity of light distribution and light hotspots under traditional lights6) Color reproduction
Luminaire/System Efficiency
In a traditional bulb (incandescent, metal halide, HPS etc.) a considerable portion of the light output is directed upwards. This light must then be reflected down. The efficacy of the reflector in turn is determined by the quality of finish, operating conditions and ambient temperature. The quality of the reflector and, therefore, the amount of light reflected degrades over time. The actual amount of light coming out of a fixture is, thus, considerably lower.
An HPS lamp has a larger profile, a single source of light and a considerabel amount of light trapped in the relector.
An LED light by contrast has a small profile, several sources of light ensuring better light distribution. All the light is produced and directed downwards. There are no problems of reflector efficiency, aging of reflector coating and consequent loss in light output.

Luminaire/System Efficiency
A colleague sent the two pictures above. The image on the left shows illumination of a street with HPS lights while that on the right shows the impact of LED street lights. Several advantages of LED lighting systems are immediately visible. LED lights have significantly less glare, more uniform Light distribution, fewer shadows, and improved visibility. The best part is that this improvement is obtained with fewer lumens and 40 % or more savings in electricity and maintenance costs.
