OUR SERVICES

1. Skills Development

Skills shortage is cited as a major obstacle to economic growth, social development and sustain-able employment growth in SA. In response to this, we offer the following skills development pro-grammes:

•New Venture CreationThe purpose of this programme is to provide an intervention that can form the basis for structured learning and development for potential and existing entrepreneurs to capitalise on opportunities to start and grow sustainable businesses that form part of the mainstream economy, enabling the participants to tender for business opportunities within both the public and private sectors. This pro-gramme is designed for participants who intend to set up or have already set up their own ventures. Assessment of the competencies and knowledge in the programme is done in the context of the learner’s own new venture.

We offer the following programmes with regards to the New Venture Creation skills development programme:

•Acquisition of an entrepreneurial profile which includes an innovation orientation•An understanding of the industry/sector in which they wish to establish a new venture•An ability to match new venture opportunities to market needs within a chosen industry/sec tor•Determine and manage the financial requirements of a new venture•Match new venture opportunities to market needs•Compile and utilise a business plan to manage a new venture and also where relevant, to seek funding for a new venture •National Certificate: Construction This programme has been developed to provide flexibility/mobility/portability across the construc-tion industry, thereby allowing for future career advancement across various fields of learning in construction. The rationale is to provide a continuation of training in various construction fields of learning. Learners will be employed in the construction industry where the combination of practical work and theoretical class room training, thereby empowering new entrants to the Construction Industry.Benefits to the economy include employment of previously unemployable persons who can offer skills to a number of different employer bodies, for example construction companies and govern-ment departments where, during the construction and maintenance of physical infrastructure, such skills will be in demand.

07

Portable skills refer to a skill or competency that can be transferred from one work context to another. The issue of skills portability is highly relevant for economic and social development of communities where infrastructure projects takes place. Entrepreneurs and workers need to have relevant and verifiable skills in order to gain access to procurement and employment opportunities and to adjust to changing consumer and labour markets. This includes the following programmes that we offer:

o Bricklayingo Plasteringo Plumbingo Painting o Carpentry/roofingo Tiling o Paving

National Certificate: Welding Application and Practice The purpose of this programme is to provide learners with the standards and the range of learning required to work effectively in the welding industry and to meet the challenges of such an environment.

The purpose of this programme is to develop learners who, after completion, demonstrate the ability to:

•Use and apply mechanical and welding technology, techniques, processes and skills, as applied in the fabrication and welding industry, using appropriate tools and measuring equipment. •Use and apply a variety of fillet welding, oxy-fuel cutting and oxy-fuel joining processes. •Demonstrate knowledge of the welding industry and its productivity requirements, by applying appropriate work-procedures. •Communicate effectively in order to achieve personal, business and organizational objectives. The ESD programme as part of the socio-economic development intervention helps improve community development and aims to foster partnerships, and a meaningful and sustainable legacy for the measured entity, through the development of infrastructure as well as enterprises, education and training initiatives. It is a national imperative to pursue this.

4. Project Management

Our Project Management intervention ensures that a project is properly approached, planned, efficiently delivered, clearly communicated, and successfully closed. Project Management is an evolutionary process where activities get further refined as clarity on scope, schedule and other deliverables is unpacked. The Project Management process is championed by our Project Manager, however it is done collaboratively with many key stakeholders including the people performing the work, the client requesting the work, and the beneficiaries of the project infrastructure.
