Bohemia Cristal with headquarter in Selb, Germany was founded in 1975 and be-longs today to one of the leading glass trading companies in Europe.
The partnership with very modern manu-facturing sites enable us to offer a very large product range, which encloses the whole range of traditional and modern glass art.
The range of products includes drinking glasses and gifts (mouth-blown, automatically made) of crystal glass and soda-lime glass as well as heat-resistant glass products of the brands SIMAX and SIMAX exclusive, manufactured of the leading manufacturers Kavalierglass in Czezch Republic which belong also the company network. Under the brand philosophy Bo-hemia Selection can be found in the product portfolio articles in clear variants and decoration variants such as pantography.
Regarding project business we are a professional and approved partner and offers besides a wide procurement, also the service of customized packaging and marketing concepts.

1. Glass in general:
Glass is an amorphous, not crystalline solid and is made exclusively of natural respectively nature identical, inorganic raw materials. For the production of household and flat glasses are basically six different natural raw materials needed: sand (quartz sand), as most important ingredient, sodium carbonate, lime, small proportions dolomite, feldspar and pottash. The selection and the proportions of the respective glass raw material result from the required characteristics of the glass product and the respective production process.
2. Glass types:
a) lead crystal glass:Lead crystal glasses consisting of 54-65% sand, about 18-38% of lead oxid, about 13-15% alkali oxide and some other oxides. They have a high optical refraction and are well suitable for decoration by cut and engraving. Their is much higher than that of other types of glass. Lead crystal glasses are used mostly as gifts for the household sector, but also as flowering subjects and as gemstone imitiation. Glasses with the ingredient lead oxide have to be la-beled as such.
b) crystal glass:Glasses which contain less than 18% of lead oxide are also called crystal glasses. In the table of the crystal glass identification law is performed which ingredients the composition of the glass has to contain, to be called crystal glass. For the household sector are made pre-dominately crystal glasses which contain no lead oxide. The high optical refraction and the surface hardness which is well processed with cut decors, gives the frit a special brilliance.
c) soda-lime glass:Soda-lime glasses make the largest amount up of all industrial produced glasses. As is clear from the name, plays the ingredients soda and lime besides sand an important role. In prac-tice appear soda-lime glass in form of beverage bottles, food jars, simple drinking glasses, gifts and flat glass. They are transparent, charactercized by a plain, non-porous surface, so that they can be cleaned easily and expand rapidly when they exposed to heat.
d) borosilicate glass:These glasses have a high resistance against chemical impacts and differences in tempera-ture. Therefore, they are used primarily for productions lines of glass in the chemical industry, in laboratories, as ampoules and bottles in the pharmaceutical industry. Due to the excellent characteristics ‚borosilicate‘ is also increasingly used for the production of household glasses: baking dishes and roasters as well as heat-resistant tableware like for example teapots and glasses for hot drinks are als made of it.

... pantography?
Pantography is an old almost forgotten art, to decorate glass. The special filigree motifs are engraved at first on a zinc plate. Afterwards it is trace by the panto-graph and thereby at the same time it is copied on the rotary glass, which was dipped in wax before. With a special procedure, the decorations will be perma-nently incorporated.

... Hydroglaze?
A water-based coating system for the colored decoration of glass surfaces es-pecially for household glass such as drinking glasses, plates or bowls. With Hy-droglasze coated objects convince with their excellent properties, such as dish-washer-resistance.

One calls an ice ground a strong or thick glass bottom of hollow glasses (for ex-ample tumbler, vases, bowls), which is disproportionate to the side walls.

Here the gob is preblown in metal forms with reliefs. The thereby originating different thickness of the glass objects, which result in the desired optical ef-fect.
... Crackle?
Crackle is a processing technique where the glass has a mesh-like network of fine cracks or fissures, which are distributed over the whole glass. Here the broken object has to be re-melted after the crack, otherwise it would fall apart. What remains are fine cracks in the interior of the wall.

... silk screening?
Here a fine-meshed gauze is stretched on a wooden frame and on it the intended drawing is transferred photographically. The gauze is laid on the glass, soused with colour and pressed on with a rubber roller. The colour can reach the glass only by the meshes of the net. Thus originates a clear imprint on the glass. According to the kind of the colours one let them cool down and solidify or anneal them at different temperatures.

... frosted glass?
Frosting (derived from satin) describes a method of surface processing. In the glass working is frosted glass produced of clear glass and it is an intransparent but translucent glass. This glass can be obtained by sandblasting, silk screening or treatment with hydrofluoric acid. Through the application of templates it is pos-sible to print various patterns on the glass. Thereafter, remain the covered glass surfaces clear and transparent.
... Splash decoration?
Splash decors are applied in two different variants on the glass: Always with a spray gun, but either with a controlled automatical-ly computer or manually with hand at complicated glass bodies and partly splashes. The paints are durable, high-quality colours, LFGB approved and suitable for the contact with food. To avoid
a possible abrasion, the splashed items can be additionally sealed with a clearcoat. If only partial surfaces of the article should be splashed, one works with templates.

Is the most widely used method of glass refinement. The glass surface is deco-rated by seperating in single fields with different size and depth.

... ‚braided glass‘ ?
Braided glasses are such glass objects, which are braided with glass threads after her moulding in still warm state. The gaffer takes up a small gob with the iron, pull out a cusp, sticks the cusp on the object and now he pull out a thread from the gob by turning it. At the same time he wraps the thread around the object. This procedure requires a lot of skill, because the thread has to fuse on the vitreous body at the same time.
... ‚overlaid glass‘ ?
Overlaid glas is a flat or hollow glass, which becomes melted on a second side a different-coloured glass layer or at colourless basic glass a coloured glass layer. The overlaid method results from dunking the parison for example from colourless glass into coloured glass, which is blew up afterwards. Thereby it develops a so called „external overlaid“. The gaffer can start this working pro-cess also with the coloured parison. Later the glass can be cut or corroded. Thereby it develops patterns, which gain interesting effects by the coloured contrast.

Here we are working with a brush, whose thickness is chosen de-pending on the rim width. It can also be used automatically control-led apparatus for plates and bowls. Frequently the painting is still done by hand. For wider edge painting can be used a sponge. In addition to conventional colours are used also spot colours such as gold, silver and platinum.
