Founded by Duke Ludwig I of Bavaria in 1204, Landshut remained the main seat of the House of Wittelsbach until 1255.
Under the reign of the „Rich Dukes” Landshut witnessed a glorious period from 1393 to 1503, when it was the seat of government of the dukedom of Bavaria-Landshut.
Every four years: the greatest European historic festival of the "Royal Wedding" = "Landshuter Hochzeit“, in which nearly 2.000 citizens of Landshut celebrate the 1475 wedding of the duke "Herzog Georg der Reiche" and the Polish King‘s daughter Hedwig.
The city of Landshut had been the seat of goverment of Lower Bavaria since 1839.

The Language Centre at the University of Applied Sciences Landshut is a central, inter-faculty institute and provides language services to all our students.
Facts and Figures:
the Language Centre offers students the possibility to study any of the following eleven languages: German (as foreign language), English, French, Spanish, Italian, Chinese, Turkish, Russian, Swedish, Japanese, Brazilian Portuguese
