RUNNERS, SUPPORT CREW, VOLUNTEERS AND SPONSORS, WELCOME TO THE 7 SUNSHINE COAST MARATHON, 2019.
It’s an honour to manage the event for a eighth year. We have set ourselves an ambitious target on both the sporting and fundraising fronts. Yet again entry numbers across all events remain strong, with an increase in interstate and international runners travelling to the Sunshine Coast to experience the atmosphere and perfect winter conditions we’re fortunate enough to enjoy.
In 2019, we celebrate our IAAF Bronze Label Status, truly putting our Half Marathon event on the world stage. As host of the Australian Half Marathon Championships for the third year we’ve attracted the highest calibre of Australian and international elites, who will confirm whether or not this is the fastest 21.1km course in the country.
Better still, last year, with your help, the event’s fundraising efforts topped $1.5 million since 2012. It was an impressive milestone and we’re aiming to improve on it every year. These funds go to help our major beneficiaries Ronald McDonald House South East Queensland and Westpac Foundation as well as dozens of other local and community charities. We would not be able to do any of this without the assistance of runners, volunteers, sponsors and partners.
Thank you for taking part, no matter what your capacity, you are the reason for this event’s success and progress. Thank you for your ongoing support and passion for this truly local celebration of health and fitness.
We hope you enjoy the day and have a great 7 Sunshine Coast Marathon 2019.

Message from the Minister for Tourism Industry Development - The Hon Kate Jones MP
Welcome to the 7 Sunshine Coast Marathon, one of the most popular community running festivals in Australia, which has raised over $1.5 million for charity and community groups since its inception in 2012.
With a distance to suit every ability and age group, this community-focused event caters to all, attracting thousands of competitions to the Sunshine Coast to enjoy our Queensland winter weather.
Events are vital to the Queensland economy. They promote our beautiful destinations, driving tourism visitors which supports local jobs. This event is part of Tourism and Events Queensland’s It’s Live! in Queensland events calendar, worth $800 million to the state’s economy.
Congratulations to the event organisers and all involved in delivering another successful event. If you’re visiting the Sunshine Coast for the marathon, I encourage you to get out and explore the diverse region, from the stunning golden coastline to the pristine hinterland.
