Respond to the problem:

Sophie is playing a game called Circles and Stars. Sophie rolls one number cube and gets the number six. Sophie draws six circles on her paper. Sophie rolls the number cube again and gets the number three. Sophie draws three stars in each of the six circles. Sophie writes 6 x 3 on her paper. Sophie plays the game again. Sophie rolls one number cube and gets the number three. Sophie draws three circles on her paper. Sophie rolls the number cube again and gets the number six. Sophie draws six stars in each of the three circles. Sophie writes 3 x 6 on her paper. Sophie says she got the same total number of stars both times! Is Sophie correct? Show all your mathematical thinking.

Respond to the problem: Caleb sells tomatoes in baskets. Caleb has sixty tomatoes to sell. Caleb has to figure out how many tomatoes to put in baskets so he has a equal share of tomatoes in each basket. Caleb says he can use division as part of a plan to put a equal share of tomatoes in each basket. What could the plan look like and what are four division equations Caleb can use to decide how many baskets he needs for sixty tomatoes? Show all your mathematical thinking.

Respond to the problem: Abigail and Diego are using pattern blocks to make up a multiplication problem. Abigail makes up a problem about blue blocks: "There are six blue pattern blocks on the desk. Each blue block has four vertices. How many vertices are on all six blocks?" Diego says he can reverse the numbers and write a problem about a different pattern block. Is Diego correct? Show all your mathematical thinking

Pretend you are a square. Write a letter to another quadrilateral (rectangle, rhombus, or parallelogram) telling her/him why you should be a part of his/her class. List specific likenesses/differences. Bonus: Type your letter out.

Draw a picture using as many quadrilaterals as possible for objects or parts of objects in the drawing (example: a man made out of trapezoids). Label each quadrilateral, stating all possible classifications of the quadrilateral as needed (example: a square is a parallelogram, rhombus, and rectangle).

Draw 5 shapes onto a piece of paper. Walk around your living room. Tally each shape that was seen. Create a bar graph or picture graph with this data. Remember to use a scale other than one to represent your data

Find 15 items around your house and measure them to the nearest ¼ inch. Make a

table and create a line plot showing your data.

Go to Brainpopjr and watch the video on plane shapes and lines segments. Take a quiz on both videos.

Watch the BrainPOPJr on solving word problems. Create a song, poster, or poem about how to solve word problems.

Respond to the problem: Abigail and Diego making arrays to solve the multiplication problem 3 x 4 = 12. Abigail draws 3 rows of 4. Diego draws 4 rows of 3. Which array shows the multiplication sentence correctly? Explain your thinking.

Write a word problem which require students to solve for multiplication.. Make the story problems as entertaining possible! Include an answer key. Bonus: Type your letter out.
