Complete Cardiac CareAt Beacon Hospital we have a complete Cardiac Care service o�ering everything from cardiac assessment in our Rapid Access Cardiology Clinic (RACC) to routine procedures and complex open-heart surgeries.
Rapid Access Cardiology Clinic
Our RACC is open Monday to Friday from 8am to 6pm o�ering direct access to cardiac assessment for yourpatients without the need to go through the EmergencyDepartment. Our RACC is run by Consultant Cardiologists Dr David Burke, Dr Matthew Barrett, Dr Aftab Jan, Dr Robert Kelly and Dr Dermot McCa�rey supported by ourexperienced Cardiology Clinical Nurse Specialists.
The service employs a dedicated Cardiology Liaison Nurseto discuss your patients case, outcome and streamlinefollow up. We can o�er appointments within 24 hours of referral. Same day appointment will be available where clinically necessary. The max fee to patients is €400* and includes blood testing, stress testing, echocardiogram,blood pressure and holter monitors and same day discharge summary and reporting.

Advanced Cardiac Imaging
Beacon Hospital is home to the most technologically advanced diagnostic radiology equipment in Ireland.Using this high-tech equipment our cardiac imaging service o�ers cardiac CT and Cardiac MRI, which is the most comprehensive heart assessment available.
Cath Labs
Our two newly refurbished Cath Labs o�er the latest leading technology in state-of-the-art surroundings with their own recovery area close by. Patients requiring overnight stay after procedures can be transferred to our cardiac care ward which is sta�ed 24/7 with specialists for all heart conditions.
Cardiothoracic Services
Beacon Hospital Cardiothoracics o�ers a comprehensive service including both minimally invasive cutting-edge procedures and more complex open-heart surgeries.Our Thoracic and Cardiothoracic Surgeons include: Prof Mark Redmond, Ms Donna Eaton, Prof Karen Redmond, Mr Maher Shuhaibar, Mr Lars Nolke.
Beacon Hospital’s 8 state-of-the-art theatres have recently been refurbished and o�er the most advanced equipment along with our team of highly quali�ed experts ensuring your patient is in the best place.
Some of the newer procedures introduced include a cutting-edge stroke prevention procedure for patientswith Atrial Fibrillation. This procedure, Left Atrial Appendage, is carried out by Ms Eaton and is an alternative topharmacological treatment for patients who are unable to tolerate certain drugs such as warfarin or otheranticoagulants. Studies have shown a 98% success rate for this minimally invasive ultra-modern procedure so far.
Congenital Heart Disease Clinic
Our new Congenital Heart Disease Clinic led by Prof Kevin Walsh, sees patients from the age of 16 years who have been diagnosed with Congenital Heart Disease. Prof Walsh recognised that many patients once leaving the paediatric system can fall through the cracks for follow up on issues relating to their congenital heart disease diagnosis. Dr Walsh has set up this clinic to ensure there is a service in place for patients in this category to o�er life long support speci�cally for their needs.
Paediatric Cardiology
Dr Orla Franklin, Consultant Paediatric Cardiologist,holds regular clinics in our Beacon for Kids Out PatientsDepartment. Appointments with Dr Franklin can be scheduled via the Beacon for Kids OPD on 01 650 4665 orvia email [email protected]. eReferrals are also available.
