PEDIATRIC THERAPY We take a collaborative approach to your child’s

care. Our therapists have Neonatal Intensive Care

Unit (NICU) and Pediatric Intensive Care Unit

(PICU) training and can provide direct referral to

Early Intervention/CPSE and additional assistance

programs. Services include:

Speech therapy:

For communication challenges, oral motor concerns,

articulation, auditory processing, and social skills.

Physical therapy:

For movement, motor development, and body

function treatments to promote active participation in

home, school, and community environments.

Occupational therapy:

For strengthening the development of fine motor

skills, sensory motor skills, and visual motor skills

needed to function and socialize.

For over 50 years, Richmond University Medical

Center has provided advanced rehabilitation

services and programs. Individualized treatment

plans are tailored around each patient’s specific

recovery needs with the goal of restoring function

and improving overall quality of life. Our team

of experienced and dedicated therapists utilizes

state-of-the-art equipment with the latest

medically-proven therapies to maximize recovery

as quickly as possible.

OCCUPATIONAL THERAPY

For patients recovering from a variety of neurological,

orthopedic, and other conditions that result in a loss of

function including brain injury, amputations, stroke, and hip

or knee replacements.

Services include:

� Hand therapy

� Cognitive therapy

� Vision therapy

� Community reintegration training

� Activity of Daily Living (ADL) training

� Splinting

� Adaptive Equipment/wheelchair assessment

� Home modification

� Electrical stimulation/Ultrasound

� Paraffin therapy

PHYSICAL THERAPY

For patients recovering from orthopedic, neurological,

cardiopulmonary, and vestibular impairments, including

brain injury, stroke, Parkinson’s disease, vertigo, sciatica,

osteoarthritis, back, neck, or shoulder pain, and sports or

work-related injuries.

Services include:

� Therapeutic exercises

� Ultrasound/Electrical stimulation

� Balance and coordination training

� Adaptive equipment training (crutches, prosthetics, orthotics)

� Postural and ergonomic assessments

� Gait training

� Strengthening and stability exercises

� Hot and cold therapy

SPEECH, LANGUAGE, COGNITIVE AND SWALLOWING THERAPY

Therapies for speech and language disorders and voice

and swallowing difficulties resulting from cancer, dysphagia,

stuttering, apraxia, aphasia, dysarthria, and voice problems.

Services include:

� Speech/language therapy

� Swallowing therapy

� Voice therapy

� Stuttering therapy

� Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC)

� Accent modification

� Modified Barium Swallow Studies (MBS)

� Fiberoptic Endoscopic Evaluation of Swallowing (FEES)

� Electrical stimulation/Ultrasound

PHYSIATRY

Our physiatrists use a comprehensive approach to help

diagnose a multitude of conditions.

Services include:

� Diagnosis and treatment of acute pain and chronic disorders/diseases

� Trigger point and joint injections

� Electrodiagnostic testing/EMG testing and Nerve Conduction Studies

� Orthotics and Prosthetics Clinic

� On-site wheelchair and seating assessment services

� Spasticity management
