A Blow Off Silencer will be normally a vent silencer installed in discharge by pass line of

compressors. In the case of discharge silencer the air / gas enters through the diffuser and

passes through the straight air path between annular acoustic cylinder and escapes into the

Both Suction and Discharge Silencers shall be supplied either in circular or rectangular

construction for fan/ blower and turbo blowers. The rectangular silencer shall be of

absorptive type installed either at suction side or at discharge side of fan/ blower. The

internals of the silencer comprises a series of acoustic splitter elements arranged in parallel

inside the rectangular steel casing. This would ensure the flow of air/gases through the

rectangular air gap between acoustics splitters and thus offering a minimum pressure drop.

The leading and trailing edge of the acoustic splitters will be designed aerodynamically to

offer minimum resistance to the flow medium.

5.1.2 Enclosures

Acoustic Enclosure for Air Compressor consists of free standing acoustic enclosure with

doors, double glazed glass windows and ventilation system comprising of ventilation air

intake silencer, ventilation air exhaust silencer and ventilation blowers. While designing the

acoustic enclosures the maintenance requirement and ventilation requirement are

considered. The openings required for suction and discharge pipelines on the acoustic

enclosure are acoustically sealed to prevent noise leakages.

Acoustics Enclosure for Automobile Plant are available for range of application, one of

them is acoustic chamber for roller testing of cars. It is designed to limit the noise level

within 75 dBA. The chamber was provided with forced ventilation system consisting of

centrifugal blowers and the exhaust ducted to out side. The acoustic chamber is provided

with automatic sliding doors at both ends to facilitate the movement of cars in and out of the

chamber. After installing the system, a noise survey was conducted and the noise level was

found to be within the specified limits.

Portable Sound Proof Cabin

Sound Proof Cabins can be supplied as portable

cabins or a fixed cabin. The cabin will have glass

windows on three sides enabling the operator to

maintain close monitoring of the plant. These cabins

can be readily installed in turbine halls, blower halls,

process plants etc. Large custom-built soundproof

cabin can be constructed at site as per customer

specification. Generally these cabins are designed to

maintain a noise level of 65-70 dBA inside the cabin.

Higher attenuation will be offered based on customer

requirement.

Compressor Test Bed

A facility for testing different types of industrial air & process gas compressors driven by 5

MW motor. From concept to commissioning the test bed includes sound proof acoustic

enclosures with motorized doors, air intake & exhaust system, lubrication & cooling water

system with associated pipelines, instrument air system, complete driveline and complete

electrical and instrumentation. A portion of the front wall of size 22m long x 10 m height

weighing 40T moves to and fro for a span of 35 m to allow access for the cranes for

handling of compressors,, motor etc inside the test bed. The noise criterion of the test

facility was satisfactorily achieved.

It is intimated that Acoustic system of CCP-2 has been commissioned on 03-05-95 and

taken over by us on 26-5-95. The system installed as a whole is working satisfactorily since

then. It was supposed to bring down the noise level within 85dba as per our Tender

specification. After testing by Environment control department on 03-05-95 its noise level

was below 85dba. Also in many places noise level was found 80dba and average so this

system is finally acceptable to us.

Gas Fan of 0.928 million m3/hr at 1600 capacity, is working satisfactorily at our Sinter

Plant No.2. The noise level after installation of the Silencer is measured as 83.6 dBa as

against a guranteed Noise level of 85 dBa.

M/s. ACOUSTICS INDIA, has supplied and erected a sound proof enclosure for 110KVA

DG set at our works and the performance of the enclosure is found to be satisfactory since

18 months of installation. We have achieved 84.6dBA (averaged over six samples) noise

level at a distance of 1 meter around the DG set as against guaranteed noise level of 85dBA.
