I. Executive Summary – Authorized Partner Program

CompTIA has developed an extensive Authorized Partner Program to accelerate revenue growth for

both our valued delivery partners and CompTIA. The program provides significant financial incentives

coupled with substantial sales and marketing resources to increase partner velocity, volume and

financial performance.

Partners are one of CompTIA‟s most important strategic assets. CompTIA is dedicating substantial

resources and is committed to working collaboratively with partners to increase market impact,

customer satisfaction and revenue.

CompTIA has developed branding campaigns to drive top-of-mind awareness and activate buying

behavior for CompTIA certifications and content. In the past year, CompTIA has launched major re-

branding including a new Web site, standardized content and materials and direct marketing

initiatives.

II. Program Description CompTIA is the leading provider of high quality, vendor-neutral certi fications and learning content for

IT professionals. CompTIA works with multiple delivery channel partners around the world to help IT

professionals advance their knowledge, skills and career credentials in order to raise workplace

performance levels.

The CompTIA Authorized Partner Program recognizes each delivery partner organization as a highly

valued CompTIA business partner. The expanded partner program is designed to jointly help your

company rapidly grow the business by providing an industry leading portfolio of products and bundled

solutions, combined with powerful sales and marketing tools, resources and support.

The Authorized Partner Program is a global program consisting of three levels partners can apply for

depending on the number of CompTIA certi fication exam purchased and the number of certification

courses taught per year.

IV. Delivery Partner Eligibility

The CompTIA Authorized Partner Program is designed for CompTIA delivery partners whose primary focus is IT training, delivered in different modalities (i.e. classroom, virtual classroom (Live Online) and/or Blended Learning). The Authorized Partner Program is a global program.

CompTIA Authorized Partner Eligibility Criteria

• Offer Courses - at their own training centers, client site, rented space or online.

• Offer at Least One CompTIA Certification Training Course – and use instructors certified in

the CompTIA course(s) they teach and hold a “trainer the trainer” certification or credential.

• Use CompTIA Approved Quality Content (CAQC) Material - CAQC training content is

reviewed by industry experts to ensure that publishers adhere to the high quality of CAQC

instructional design and maintain a 100 percent correlation to the exam. Students have a number

of important study advantages with CAQC materials, including: Complete coverage of all exam

objectives, Implementation of important instructional design principles and Instructional reviews

that help students judge their learning comprehension and readiness for the certification exam.

VI. Partner Benefits The benefits of being a CompTIA partner are designed to significantly raise performance levels by

providing multiple incentives, resources and tools to increase revenue and profitability.

• Discounted Exam Vouchers - CompTIA Authorized Partners are eligible for discounts. All discounts listed below are off of the non-member price (See criteria below).

Qualifications

Qualifying for Next Level As voucher volume grows to the next annual volume level, partners are notif ied and may

decide to move to the next plateau, which qualif ies them for increased discount levels.

Volume Decreases If a partner‟s volume decreases below annual program levels at renewal, an adjustment w ill

be made to the low er program discount level.

• CompTIA Marketing Development Fund Program

Gold and Platinum partners can qualify for Marketing Development Funds, which allow partners

to earn a percentage of all their CompTIA voucher and CompTIA Authorized Official Content

sales on a quarterly basis if they meet growth criteria. (See criteria below.)

Gold and Platinum partners can earn a quarterly MDF revenue rebate percentage of their entire CompTIA voucher and CompTIA Authorized Official Content sales to fund future

approved CompTIA promotional projects.

Marketing Development

Funds Qualifications

• 7.5% Quarterly Exam Volume Growth - must meet or exceed 7.5% growth over the previous year based upon quarterly forecasts.

• Official Content - only CompTIA Official Content qualif ies for Marketing Development

Fund. (See page 14 for Official Content description).

• Approved Criteria Categories – MDF funds are for approved marketing initiatives with a direct benefit to CompTIA vouchers and content sales. Some examples of

approved marketing projects are: advertising, direct response campaigns, sales events, literature, web site enhancements and trade shows. Exceptions can be approved by your CompTIA Business Development Manager if there is suff icient merit.

• Follow CompTIA Branding Guidelines - projects must observe appropriate use of

CompTIA marks and logos, and would ideally be cobranded.

• Purchases of exam vouchers and CompTIA materials - must be via authorized distribution channels for tracking and to be eligible for MDF credit.

• Bundled Product Solutions Increase Revenue and Profitability

An easy way to increase revenue/profit is selling bundled solutions that combine your training products with CompTIA‟s value-added learning content and certi fications. (See page 18)

• Complimentary Sales Support and Product Training

CompTIA recognizes the value of providing outstanding sales training and materials to its partners. Partners have access to these tools via business development managers, Webinars, Webcasts, community Web sites and portals. Platinum partners may receive face to face training

when required.

• Participation in CompTIA Community Program CompTIA is developing strong IT communities making it possible to share information, best

practices and community benefits. CompTIA partners will be encouraged to extend membership in these communities to their students and certi fied individuals as a value-add to their offerings.

• Sales Resource Center on the Partner Portal

CompTIA is building a Partner Portal to provide information on the multiple resources and tools

available to Delivery Partners. One of the important benefits is the Sales Resource Center

designed to help make partner sales efforts more efficient and more successful.

• Use of CompTIA Partner Logo & Marketing Materials, Templates

CompTIA will provide marketing materials, logos and templates for Partner Program use (subject

to CompTIA guidelines) for co-branding.

• Partner Logo and Listing on the CompTIA Websites CompTIA will provide a special mark for the partners to be displayed on the Partner Web sites. In

return, CompTIA will list all partners in good standing on the CompTIA Partners Web page.

• Lobby Plaque Denoting Partner Status

CompTIA will distribute lobby plaques for each physical delivery center to denote the level of partnership, along with any specializations, if appropriate.

• Listing in CompTIA Learning Partner Online Directory Partners will be listed, by partner level, in the Directory. Corporate customers will have access to

this directory to locate quality providers of CompTIA„s learning and certi fication products.

• Participation in the Annual CompTIA Learning Community Awards Program

CompTIA feels it is beneficial to recognize and reward the efforts of our partners who

demonstrate excellence in their lines of business. The awards program will be announced and

rolled out in Q1 2010 for recognition at the 2010 Membership Meeting.

• Support of Industry Events, Trade Shows and Conferences

CompTIA recognizes the value of co-marketing at industry events and will consider sharing

industry participation at targeted, strategic events. CompTIA MDF funds may be used to jointly

participate in approved events. All event participation by CompTIA is subject to approval from

CompTIA.

• Lead Generation Program

Partners will benefit from CompTIA‟s marketing efforts by receiving leads.

CompTIA may be able to bring our premier partners deals that can be cultivated together in

exchange for a referral fee back to CompTIA. Joint Sales Initiatives that generate business will

entail a referral fee on the total value.

• Marketing Resource Center on the Partner Portal

The CompTIA Partner Marketing Resource Center is designed to make partner marketing efforts more efficient and more successful to help grow the business.

• Knowledge Advisors Metrics That Matter™

Metrics that Matter (MTM) provides authoring tools, templates, and reports that are a powerful set

of tools for managing and improving an organization‟s people performance. The reports assist

partners in improving their business based on the student feedback. Basic reporting tools will be

available to the partners at no charge. If additional MTM services are is required, CompTIA

Partners will receive a discount from Knowledge Advisors.

Increase Industry Awareness

• Invitation to the Learning Advisory Council and CompTIA Learning Committees

As a Member-driven organization, CompTIA values the input, suggestions and ideas garnered

from business and industry leaders. Partners of the Program will have the ability to participate in

various councils and committees.

• Invitations to Colloquium

The Colloquium event is a long-standing tradition in the Training and Certification industry.

Executive invitations will be offered to those leaders that have demonstrated commitment to the

growth of the overall industry in the recent past and who share a vision for the development of

work force skills in the future.

Increase Instructor Support

• Complimentary Instructor Vouchers each Year

CompTIA recognizes the value and investment in Partner instructor resources. The CompTIA

Authorized Partner Program will encourage ongoing Instructor skill sharpening by providing

complimentary vouchers on an annual basis, based on Partner level.

• Participation in the Instructor Incentive/Rewards Program

CompTIA recognizes Instructors are a key ally in promoting the benefits of certification within the

community. The Instructor Rewards program is designed to incent instructors and reward those

who are actively promoting the value of certification in their classrooms or online environments.

• Complimentary Product Training

In the spirit of a true partnership, CompTIA recognizes the value of providing outstanding product

training to its partner instructors. Partner organizations will have access to these tools via

Business Development managers, webcasts, community websites and portals.

Increase Student Participation

• CompTIA IT Merit Awards for Students Partners can nominate a student who has achieved a CompTIA certification and shown interest in

Increase Partnership Performance

• Assigned CompTIA Business Development Manager

• For Gold and Platinum Partners, a CompTIA Business Development manager will be assigned to

support the partners throughout the year. Direct access to experienced professionals to assist in

business planning, marketing support and sales/product training is a key benefit.

• Quarterly CompTIA Business Forecast

Helping accelerate revenue and profit growth is mission critical for each partner. The assigned Business Development Manager for Gold and Platinum Partners will work with the partners to forecast voucher volume and anticipated promotional programs that drive business.

• CompTIA Authorized Partner Portal

CompTIA is developing a partner portal designed to enable one stop shopping for CompTIA

partner support including online purchases, MDF funding application, submission of business

forecasts etc.

Exam Objectives Enables students to identify key areas and information to study by reviewing the certif ication exam

Exam Policies • Candidate Agreement – an overview of all the rules and regulations regarding certif ication,

involved in implementing green IT. This test is intended for candidates who have decision making authority over their company‟s IT infrastructure such as: IT Manager, IT Supervisor, Data Center Manager, and Operations Manager. CompTIA A+ and CompTIA Server + are recommended

prerequisites.

VIII. Program Enrollment, Transition and Renewal

Existing CompTIA members (CompTIA Learning Alliance (CLA))

A CompTIA Business Development Manager will contact the partne r to discuss the transition into the CompTIA Authorized Partner Program. Partner will then complete an application and submit it to [email protected]. Once application is received, CompTIA will verify partner instructor certi fication

and use of the CAQC materials. If all the requirements are met, the payment will be accepted and partner will receive a welcome kit.

Existing CompTIA members (non CompTIA Learning Alliance (CLA))

Current CompTIA members who deliver training but are not CLA will be transitioned into the CompTIA

Partner Program as well. A CompTIA Business Development Manager will contact the partner to

discuss the transition into the CompTIA Authorized Partner Program. Partner will then complete an

application and submit it to [email protected]. Once application is received, CompTIA will verify

partner instructor certification and use of the CAQC materials. If all the requirements are met, the

payment will be accepted and partner will receive a welcome kit.

New CompTIA Partners

Companies who are new to CompTIA should follow the instructions below. Partners who are new to

CompTIA certification training will start at the Authorized partner level once they qualify.

3. After you receive the application, complete the form and resend it to [email protected]. You w ill need the follow ing to qualify:

• Offer or plan to offer training for at least on CompTIA Certif ication course

• Have at least one instructor certif ied in the trainer certif ication and also in the CompTIA exam you will be offering.

• Confirm that you are using a CompTIA Approved Quality Content.

Renewal of the CompTIA Authorized Partner Program Partnership

All Partners will be required to complete the application every year to verify instructor credentials and

the use of CAQC materials. Based on previous year‟s Voucher sales data, partner will be evaluated

and appropriate partner level will be assigned. All Gold and Platinum Partners will need to complete a

new business forecast with the Business Development Managers.
