Introduction

C o n c e p t P i p i n g S y s t e m s Industries

(formally Gulf Dura Industries) is committed

to continuously develop & maintain

the manufacture & supply of world class

construction materials, offering technology,

innovation, quality, price competitiveness,

appreciated clients worldwide.

Please take a moment to look at our other high

quality product lines:

Cross - Linked Polyethylene (PE-X)

which stands for cross-linked(X) Polyethylene (PE),

results from chemically adjoining polyethylene

molecules in order to improve their properties,

especially at high temperatures. This, results in a

structure that stays rigid when high temperature

is applied, thus raising the thermal stability of

the material under load. Cross-linking makes

PEX a “thermoset” polymer, which gives it

long-term stability, which greatly increases

the environmental stress crack resistance and

the resistance to slow crack growth due to

deterioration of the material under continuous

temperature use.

Mechanical Characteristics of PEX.

The technical suitability of PEX for water

delivery systems has been proven for decades.

The conceptPEX® pipe system is designed

for continuous temperatures of 0 °C to 70 °C,

short-term peak temperatures of up to 100 °C

and a service life of min. 50 years.

The cross-linking raises the thermal stability of

the material under load. Thus, the resistance

to environmental stress cracking, creep, and

slow crack growth are greatly improved over

polyethylene.

PEX pipe is approved for potable hot and

cold water plumbing systems and hot water

(hydronic) heating systems in all model plumbing

it particularly suitable for hot and cold interior

Moreover, conceptPEX® Pipe shows unique

temperature resistance at elevated temperatures

and for long service periods and offers a reliable

piping system even in the wide application

ranges.

Resistance to PressureAt room temperature, cross linking greatly

improves the resistance of conceptPEX® pipes to

pressure, reducing tendency to creep. At higher

temperatures, this is achieved by reducing

intermolecular space, and therefore density,

required for DIN 16892 standards. To meet the

heating pipes, a minimum density of 0.945 to

0.950 is required.

The following diagram shows the service life

expectancy which depends on the installed

system pressure and pressure changes. Under

nominal circumstances, however, the service life

expectancy of the pipes is more than 50 years.

application and included in all of the major model plumbing codes.

UV ResistanceconceptPEX® piping system is designed for indoor and buried applications only and is not recommended for outdoor above ground use. Short indirect exposure to sunlight not to exceed 30 – 45 days are however, permissible when storing conceptPEX®

the pipes, if stored outside, be shielded from direct sunlight.

Like most plastics, the long-term performance of PEX will be affected by UV radiation from sunlight. Although most PEX pipes have some UV resistance, PEX pipes should not be stored outdoors where they are exposed to the sun. Precautions must be taken once the pipe is removed from the original container.

In most applications, conceptPEX® piping system is not normally installed where subjected to UV-radiation. If exposure to UV rays is unavoidable, then the PEX pipes should be buried in the soil or protective UV rays insulation shielding should be installed. Indirect (diffused) and

preferred) or approved pipe insulation.

conceptPEX®

with the external packaging upon delivery to allow time for storage, transport and installation for a period of up to 6 months in exposed areas. The protective package should not be removed until installation is commenced.

DurabilityBased on extensive testing and material performance over the span of more than 30 years, PEX piping has proven to be a durable material that does not suffer from some of the historical problems associated with metallic piping, such as

mineral build-up, and water velocity wear. PEX piping will typically expand if the system is allowed to freeze, and return to its original size when the water thaws.

Corrosion Resistant Brass FittingsBrass components have been widely used in the water industry. When supply of potable water is required, however, and in certain combinations of chloride concentrations in an acidic medium, corrosion of the alloy will occur and is due to the loss of a basic alloying element. To counter this

approved by German Water authority DVGW have proven to be effective in resisting this corrosion. These alloys are unique through combining a range of alloying elements including high copper content and small traces of other alloys, and subsequently post processing their microstructure of the alloy to chemically resist the attack of the medium and prevent the brass from corrosion. cured by immersion in 95°C hot water for 6 hours.

Hygienic PropertiesFor the healthy and safe delivery of potable

water, the network system used must be free

from any in

processes used that will be in contact with the

water, and there

Fire Resistance:conceptPEX® pipes do not omit toxic gases in

dioxin or other lethal or harmful gases such as

hydrogen chloride.

to national regulations. conceptPEX® materials

Chemical Resistance:Due to the nature of polyethylene, conceptPEX®

pipes are highly chemical resistant at a wide

range of temperatures and pressures. The basic

cross linked structure physically is resistant to the

attack of aggressive chemicals. The material is

thus rendered more resistant to permeation and

softening by these chemicals.

Installation:The installation of PEX pipe is generally easier than

rigid pipe. The pipe is lightweight compared to

steel or copper pipes, making it easy to transport

and safe to handle before and during installation,

and as conceptPEX® pipes are produced in

various length coil installation requires fewer

chemical, or solder joining is required, saving

times and effort.

*Warranty: As a statement to conceptPEX® quality standards,

the conceptPEX® pipes carry a 10 year warranty

PEX Piping Supports

Supports that damage the pipes should not be used. Support should allow free pipe movement.

for use with plastic pipes can be used, but should be avoided. In any case, all supports should be inspected for sharp edges before use to ensure that they do not damage the pipe.
