Refurbishment concept for the area: 300 dwellings thermal and, 450 dwellings with a new energy supply

About 100 thermal renovations, 100 new energy-supply, office building

Totally energy concept for the area with focus on solar: Thermal solar plant with 2.000m² collector and 200.000 l puffer tank and 250m² PV – distribution system with micro-net

2.000m² collector, 200.000 l puffer tank, 500m² PV, additional 580m² collector

Concept for raising the living quality of the whole area: quality of the green areas, traffic, social themes and integration

- 90%

1. Building performance

2. Energy – Solar & micro-net

3. Energy – PV & electricity efficiency

4. retrofit

5. Participation und Quarter-management

6. Design of free areas

19

RTD – research

Integration of a heat pump in the solar circle of the thermal solar plant to increase the efficiency

Test new heating system for fresh air in passive-house

Air ventilation in existing buildings

Facade- system in renovation

integrated PV and solutions for use in social dwellings

20

Status Quo

1. First year finished reports

2. Ammendmanet to contract necessary (new contract partner, budget shifts,…)

3. First demo-project finished (passive-house detailled monitoring)

4. New Buildings in planning phase – building start middle 2009.

5. Problems renovations & Quarter-management (who is responsibel for what?)

6. „Option Areas“ additional in realisation Budget !!

7. International conference im autumn in Salzburg- Partnermeeting.

21

International conference

Do 23th October 2008 in Salzburg

„Stadt im Umbau – neue urbane Horizonte“

Themes: Revitalisation of old living areas – quality of public and halb public areas – Energy-conzepts for sustainable cities - changes in society and how the react in urban planning

22

Barriers / problems

1. long-term project conception for many partners

2. Political opinions are sometimes hard to handle (elections in spring 2009)

3. Many actors in new rolls – new ways of working – motivation necessary!!

4. Praxis relevant information for management missing (Budget shifts, change of contracts, EU-funding,…)

5. EU reports and calculations and accounting system

6. Funding not always clear and sometimes not really motivating (passive house)

23

Lessons learned

1. Complex problems needs interdisciplinary teams and structures

Steering-group

Concerto as impulse for innovations (Quality agreement, working groups,..)

2. Good structure for information

3. Strong local partners

4. Climate of confidence and clear rules

3. Builder and politicians are not used to work in the rules and ways of a EU project conferences & meetings as „Icebreaker“, personal contacts

4. Important are the acting persons!! – identification
