1:00 p.m. – 2:15 p.m. #T305 $30/35Lessons Learned Through the Implementation of the Integrated Design Process (IDP)CANMET is a 16,000 m2 laboratory and office space that incorporates a complex industrial program in a fully inter-connected building where design and functional systems work in harmony. An Integrated Design Process (IDP) was an essential forum for determining innovative solutions that maximize the performance of the various sustainable design initiatives. From the project outset sustainability was core to the owner’s vision. Objectives such as a 70% reduction in energy consumption and LEED Platinum certification were established and signed off by all key project team members in a Building Design Charter. Achievement of such ambitious goals is a challenge for any project and a particular challenge for a laboratory facility. The intention of this seminar will be to walk participants through the Integrated Design Process that was followed through the evaluation and implementation of each of these elements. The session will not only highlight the resulting success stories but will also share numerous lessons learned. Participants will take away examples of real applications of IDP that can be applied to any future project with sustainability ambitions.
