EdjPro SystemEdge-Lifting Systems for Factory-Cast Panels

The EdjPro system was specifically developed to eliminate cracking and spalling around edge anchors. It isideal for lifting thin factory-cast panels where a high finish is required, typically visible and exterior walls.Use of the EdjPro system will ensure panels remain in their perfect factory-cast condition, avoiding remedialwork and lowering overall costs.

No cracks! No spalls! No patching!Just perfect panels!

Designed and tested to meet AS3850 andOSH NZ Code of Practice May 2002

Anchors feature rubber plugs which preventconcrete setting in the lifting hole

EdjPro ClutchesThe clutch is designed to provide clearancebetween the figure-8 link and the concrete atall sling angles to protect against edge contactcracking. Disengagement is only possible whenthe load is relaxed guaranteeing safety whenlifting and lowering.

    Unicon Lifting Systems

Unilift SystemsLifting Systems for Civil Engineering Applications

Unilift is the ideal lifting and handling system for a wide variety ofprecast concrete products, particularly in civil engineering applications. These clutches are typically used for lifting panels, pipes, pits, manholes, box culverts, road barriers, bridge beams, planks, soundwalls, culverts etc.

Unilift Locking KlawThese strong, safe, lightweight clutches suit all spherical head lifting anchors. They protect againstdangerous disconnection where there is a risk of fouling which is a common problem whenlowering precast drainage products in confined spaces like trenches.

A higher working load limit for 1LK and 2LK Klaws compensates for sling angles as shown in thetable below.

Cone AnchorsThis classic spherical-headed, forged footanchors are the first choice for mostapplications. They are manufactured fromhot-dipped galvanised, forged, high impactstrength construction steel. Genuine Uniliftanchors are stamped with a U on the head,as well as the anchor strength WLL and length.

Reo (eye) AnchorsThese anchors are used with a hanger bar, also

known as a tension bar, where the concrete is too

weak for a cone anchor. They are ideal for thin

panels and other applications where the concrete

shear cone developed by the anchor is insufficient

to provide the working load limit of the anchor

e.g. low strength concrete. The bar is threaded

through the hole in the anchor and embedded

deep in the concrete. Like the cone anchors

above, they are manufactured from hot-dipped

    galvanised, forged, high impact strength

construction steel, and are stamped with a Unilift

U, the anchor strength WLL and length.

The cut hanger / tension bar lengths given in the

table are suitable for 15MPa concrete to AS 3600

    60mm cover.

    Minimises exposure to projecting bars

Bar embedment depth is 130mm as standard(from front of casing); larger or smaller depthsare available on request.

Standard casing lengths are 1000mm and1200mm; other sizes are available as specials.

Keybox ReinforcementContinuity SystemsThis system is a quick and easy method ofmaintaining continuity of reinforcement atconstruction joints in concrete. It comprises agalvanised steel casing, with a dimpled surfaceto provide effective concrete bond, whichhouses pre-bent bars beneath a protectivecover.

The unit is nailed to formwork. After pouringthe concrete and striking the formwork, thecover is removed to expose the bars. The barsare straightened using a Keybox re-bendingtool, ready for lapping with other reinforcement.

The following table gives details of the Keyboxstandard range. Many customers requirepurpose made units to suit their particularapplication. HALFEN Fixings

Ancon is the exclusive distributor of Halfen fixings in Australia. Brief details of the Halfen products mostcommonly used by the precast industry are shown here. For more information, please consult Halfentechnical literature which is available to download from www.ancon.com.au or alternatively discuss yourproject needs with an Ancon representative.

When fixing to concrete, Halfen cast-inchannels provide almost unlimited adjustmentalong the line of the channel and can eliminateexpensive site drilling. Cast-in fixings do notgenerate expansive forces in the concrete andcan be used at close centres and closer toedges than expansion fixings.

Lugs protruding from the back of the channelprovide a high performance anchorage. Nailholes aid the fixing of the channels to timberformwork and an infill prevents the ingress ofconcrete during casting.

Fixing to channels is by T head bolts whichare inserted into the channel and turnedthrough 90 ready for fixing any structuralelement.

In precast concrete construction, cast-inchannels are ideal for use with connectionplates at panel-to-panel and panel-to-columnintersections. They can also be used to joinsteelwork to concrete panels.

Toothed channels have serrations or teeth cutinto the returned lips of the channel. The Thead bolts used to fix to these channels have amatching serrated surface on the underside ofthe head which provides a high resistance toslip under longitudinal shear load.

Halfen channels are available in hot-dipped galvanised steel or stainlesssteel, depending on the level ofcorrosion resistance required.

foundations. It can also be used to form

    continuous columns which have been

    prepared as independent precast components.

The connection between the elements is

    immediately load-bearing eliminating the need

    for assembly braces.

HAB Anchor Bolts are set into the foundation

slab using a fitting template. Concrete columns

are supplied to site ready to assemble, with

HCC Column Shoes cast into each base. The

    elements are then mechanically connected

together and the recess is sealed with mortar

    to complete the installation.

Halfen sandwich panel anchors connect thefacing and load-bearing components together, transferring the stresses acting on the front ofthe building to the load-bearing structurebehind. The anchors are subject to corrosionand are therefore manufactured from stainlesssteel.

Although the anchors pass through theinsulation layer thereby forming a heat bridge, the small cross-sectional area of the anchorscombined with the low thermal conductivity ofstainless steel mean they have a negligibleimpact on the thermal performance of thesystem.

    HALFEN Fixings

SP-FA Flat AnchorsThese flat anchors are manufactured in a sheetthickness of 1.5, 2 or 3mm and are markedwith the anchor height, length and thickness.Like the MVA anchor they also feature roundholes to accept reinforcement and oval holes toallow for the passage of concrete around theanchor.

SP-MVA Sleeve AnchorsThese cylindrical sleeve anchors aremanufactured in a sheet thickness of 1.5mmand are marked with the anchor height anddiameter. They feature round holes to acceptreinforcement and oval holes to allow for thepassage of concrete around the anchor.

Sandwich Panel AnchorsSandwich panels are a thermally-efficient, multi-layer, reinforced concretecladding system, typically comprising an aesthetic facing layer, an insulationlayer and a load-bearing structural layer.

FPA Precast Panel AnchorsThis faade hanging system consists of a vertically adjustable threaded rod, a lowersection cast into the concrete panel (with or without horizontal adjustment), and aspacer bar to allow adjustments in cavity size. It is used to tie thin precast concretefaades back to the main structure of the building.

SP-SPA Wire AnchorsThese V-shaped anchors are manufactured from round bar in diameters from 5mm to 10mm. Reinforcement passes through the bends at either end ofthe anchor. They are marked with coloured adhesive labels showing the type, diameter and height.

This product can be used with Halfen HTA cast-in channels. Additional accessories of thisproduct include bolts, turnbuckles, ties andplates.

More product information is available from theHalfen Precast Panel Anchor literature availableto download from www.ancon.com.au,including full assembly instructions. Halfen alsoprovides calculation software to simplify theselection of precast panel anchors.

Open Grips Barrels and WedgesOpen grips should only be used at thestressing end (live end) of the bed with ahydraulic jack incorporating power lock-off. Ifpower lock-off is not available then spring-loaded grips should be used. The wedges aremade up of two segments for use with wireand three for use with strand.

Double-ended jointsDEJ/DEJ reducers can be used to connectwire/strand together midspan. Where areducing joint is used, the pre-stressing forceshould never exceed 80% of themanufacturers specified minimum breakingload for the smallest wire or strand being used.

Spring Loaded AnchorsSpring-loaded anchors or grips should alwaysbe used at the non-stressing end of the bed. They should also be used at the stressing endwhere jacks without power lock-off are beingused.

CCL Stressing JacksThese have been the worlds leading jacks formore than 50 years. First developed in the1960s, they combine advanced design withuncompromising quality to deliver the ultimatein high performance and efficiency. CCL Jacksare designed and assembled by CCLengineers to the highest standards, offeringoptimum safety and many years of reliableoperation.

Full technical records are maintained whichdemonstrate compliance of equipment withsafety criteria, and the Company carries outboth traceability and cyclical pressure testingon each jack, prior to release to the customer.

CCL PumpsUsing the best hydraulic components on themarket, CCL Pumps are built to provideunrivalled performance and reliability. Each hasa full technical record to prove equipmentsafety compliance requirements and arechecked for traceability and tested for pressurebefore release to the customer.

CCL EquipmentCCL equipment is designed, manufactured and assembled with the same attention to detail as that used inthe production of its components. An experienced team, which also provides customer support ontechnical issues, assembles, calibrates and certifies all equipment before despatch to the customer.

CCL AccessoriesLubricationThe correct lubrication of jack wedges isessential to prolong life and ease dismantlingof the grip after stressing. Two lubricationproducts are available. A molybdenum-basedaerosol release agent dries to form a hardcoating on the wedge around ten minutes afterapplication, while Super Dippy lubricantremains in a fluid state after being liberallyapplied to the components of the grip.

CleaningA range of brushes is available for the cleaningof wedges and barrels. These are designed tofit standard drill chucks. The barrel brushes arespecially tapered to effectively clean the insidebody of the barrel.

CCL Pumps deliver multiple pressures toaccelerate the stressing operation, whilemaintaining control for precise stressing whenneeded. State-of-the-art force control systemsgive accurate multiple input and allowdownloading of output to Laptop or Palmtopcomputers for storage, analysis and printing.

SR3000 pumps are of a robust design andcome complete with a protection frame asstandard. The high build quality andspecifications of the parts used ensure a highreliability and low maintenance life. They offerrapid, reliable two speed stressing operationsup to 18mm strand.

The SRX pump isdesigned as acompact lightweightalternative to theSR3000 unit and iscapable of deliveringexcellent performanceon small stranddiameters.

Force ControlForce control systems are available which allowthe programming of the pump to automaticallydeliver accurate and consistent pre-stressingforce. The units also allow for the download ofdata from the pre-stressing operation, forrecording or analysis.

Calibration UnitsDigital Calibration Units can be supplied toallow Jacks and pumps to be calibrated quicklyand economically on site. They feature a cleardigital readout, a rechargeable battery andmains operation.

Both types of CCL Pump come in various sizesand voltages.

Grip Release ToolsCCL Grip release tools are precision-machinedalloy products used to aid the release ofwedges from barrels. The tool is inserted intothe bearing end of the barrel until in contactwith the wedge. A sharp hammer blow is thendelivered to the tool to break the contactbetween the wedge and barrel withoutdamaging either component.

Replacement PartsApproved spare parts and maintenance kitsare available from CCL. In order to maintainequipment in good working order, CCLrecommends the carrying of a small stock ofCCL replacement parts such as jack wedgesand seal spares kits. This also avoidsinterruption in the pre-stressing process whenit becomes necessary to change a jack wedgeand nose.
