Tummy Bugs

There continues to be cases of diarrhoea or vomiting in our community. Please seek medical assistance if your child develops a rash, shows signs of dehydration or the symptoms continue beyond a couple of days.

Hand washing before eating and after using the toilet is the best method of reducing the spread of diarrhoea and vomiting. Children should not be attending school if they have diarrhoea or vomiting. Please send a note to explain the reason for absences or ask for a medical certificate if you take your child to see a doctor.

This year the attendance assembly will be run by Mrs Jones. Assembly will be the same

as previous years with a class from the primary and infants end winning the best

attendance for the fortnight.

I would like to encourage students to do their best to follow the school motto, It’s not

OK to be away or late by presenting each class that wins with a certificate to keep and

proudly display in their classroom. The winning classes select a class reward to enjoy

with their peers to celebrate this achievement.

At the end of the year the two classes with the most certificates will receive a

surprise reward to acknowledge their efforts. Students are encouraged to do their

best to attend school regularly and on time. If students are away please remember to

get their note in within seven days of the first day of absence.

The school has had the

pleasure of having Jacqui and

her sister Rahel visit our

school over the last couple of

weeks. The girls are visiting

cousins in Condobolin and

took the opportunity to

experience life in an Australian

school. They have discovered

it is very different to their

school in Switzerland. We

have learnt that some words

are similar in English and in

German however others are

quite different. Rahel took the

opportunity to show us her

village in Switzerland using

Google Earth but unfortunately

due to some construction in the

village at the time we didn’t

get to see her house. We did

however see how beautiful and

green the village was

compared to Condo! Both 2B

and 1R have loved having their

visitors for a little over a week

and we are going to miss them

when they leave. We say thank

you for sharing a little of your

holiday with us and we wish

you well on your long journey

home.

Mrs Buerckner.

SCHOOL HOLIDAY ROAD SAFETY REMINDER

FOR FAMILIES

With the school holidays approaching, daily routines will soon change. Different play locations and holiday destinations means different traffic environments.

So to help keep our children safe, families are reminded about these key road safety points:

Stop, look, listen, think every time you cross the road. If your child is aged 8 years or younger hold their hand when walking near or across roads. If your child is 9-10 years old always actively supervise them.

It’s the law that everyone wears a helmet when riding a bike in a public place. It makes sense to wear a helmet when riding scooters and skateboards too!

Click clack front ‘n back every person for every trip. Everyone in the car must be securely buckled up in the right seatbelt or child restraint.

Talk to your child about being a safe road user. Reinforce safe road behaviours by being a good role model! Children learn safe road behaviours from the adults who care for them. Talk about what you are doing to be safe when near roads, in the car and when riding.

Point out road safety differences and dangers in new environments. This is especially important when on holidays in different surroundings. Roads, footpaths, parks, carparks, bike tracks and bike lanes may look different in holiday areas.

The best way to keep your child safe is to actively supervise them.

Talk and teach your child about road safety every time you are out an about.

Remind other adults who care for your children to do this too.

You can find out more at:

Safety Town

Have a safe holiday break!
