Chatter | Tips
Here are some important points to keep in mind when making status updates:
• If you create a public group, anyone can see posts on the group, whether they're members of the group or not.
• Posts made in a private group can only be seen by members who have been added by the group owner.
• Do post files instead of emailing attachments.
• Do use groups rather than email distribution lists for
collaboration.
• Do participate by asking and answering questions and
sharing information.
• Do keep your posts relevant to work.
• Do keep it brief.
• Do use Chatter to address a wider audience and get
feedback.
• Don’t post anything you wouldn’t want Michael
Dell to read.
• Don’t write long-winded posts.
• Don’t use Chatter to replace your 1:1s.
• Don’t post confidential information on profiles or
public groups.
• Don’t post personal messages that aren’t relevant to
your business.

Managing Presentable Content
Get the most out of your online meeting … use features
• Only use desktop sharing when you are actively showing your screen to another person. (Example: Walking someone through a step by step process over multiple programs)
• You can upload content in any form ahead of time … Decks, pictures, video’s, polls, Q&A. You can pick from your attachments or from the presentable content option.
• When content is preloaded meetings can start on time and if there are technical problems or if sharing goes down. Then the content is still available.
• Want to share a program (such as OneNote) without everyone seeing your whole desktop? Share the program only so that only the programs your choose will be displayed. When you minimize this screen will be shown …
23
Lync + OneNote + Outlook Integration
Get organized and be even more productive …
• New integration with Outlook and OneNote. Shared OneNote will allow you to take meeting notes that can be shared with the whole team.
• Documents that are uploaded to your Lync meeting will be downloaded to your shared notes so all of your content is in one place … NO more emails asking where that deck went!
• A link to your meeting notes will be added to your invite so the notes are accessible to users who are not familiar with OneNote
• Details can be expanded or collapsed depending on level of content you need to see. Need to know who attended? No problem
• Allows team to collaborate together, clearly review meeting minutes and action items.
