Conference Information

We are excited about this year’s conference. By working with a task force of chapter leader volunteers, we developed a new program that focuses on the knowledge and critical skills needed to be successful in your role as a chapter leader.

What’s New?

Colored Dot on Your BadgeThere is a red, yellow, green or blue dot on your badge that corresponds with dots next to each of the Saturday concurrent sessions. We assigned participants to sessions to ensure you have ample opportunities to meet people with different roles from chapters of various sizes. This increases the value of your experience by giving you a chance to expand your network of chapter leaders.

Tactical Breakout SessionsBased on attendee feedback we have added new Tactical Breakout Sessions on Sunday. These sessions provide board-position specific content with concrete, implementable tips and tactics to help you hit the ground running in 2018. Filling more than one role, gathering tips for a fellow volunteer who could not make the conference? That is ok, we are running each session twice so you have an opportunity to attend two different tactical sessions.

Networking OpportunitiesChapter HiveThis year there are three different chapter hive experiences. On Friday, the chapter hive offers you the opportunity to spend one-on-one time with FPA staff to answer questions, explore ideas or address issues that are on your mind. Staff representatives from FPA teams will be there to discuss chapters, Journal of Financial Planning, communities, volunteer management, pro bono services, membership, public relations, advocacy and marketing.

Saturday’s hive is centered around chapter size, giving you an opportunity to convene with your peers from similarly sized chapters to discuss ideas or challenges.

Sunday’s hive is focused around chapter role. This gives you an opportunity to discuss best practices with your peers who have the same board role at their chapter.
