Webinar Transcript Research Policy Practice Barbara Backus: we
need a TYC specific for infants and toddler teachers Rene Hobbs:
more resources for family child care home providers Camille
Lachar-Lofaro: a TYC for school age children would be helpful
prerna: yes, very relevant use it all the time for professional
development jennifer: I have found that the publications have been
much more relevant the past few years - Thank you! It would be
great to know or have a "sneak peek" at coming comprehensive
benefit publications as we are looking at starting a "book club" if
you will in the next few months prerna: yes Sandra Giarde - Calif
AEYC: I second the suggestion for a "heads up" as to which books
are coming up as comprehensive benefits as it can be used as a
marketing tool towards encouraging members Sandra Giarde - Calif
AEYC: to upgrade to comprehensive status jennifer: Along those same
lines, is it possible to find out the topic of upcoming YC
journals? mary porcelli: I would like to see publications aimed at
or including 1st, 2nd, 3rd grade. I feel naeyc does a very good job
with the preschoolers and kindergarten, but we are lacking in the
younger elementary grades. Camille Lachar-Lofaro: One of our
members won the mini grant last year based on the NAEYC publication
of Big Body Play. She received it as a member benefit. She
presented at out Annual meeting and was asked to do her
presentation for programs in attendance of our meeting. sueconnor:
I love the idea of TYC for infants and toddlers- Sue Connor Jenny
Yen: Many disasters occurred lately and NAEYC did a great job
posting useful information immediately. Great job! Is it possible
to publish children's book, social story, self-help books for
teachers?
Slide 24
Webinar Transcript Research Policy Practice Melissa (VT): I
second the request for articles targeted at family child care
providers Lorie Barnes NCaeyc: Technical Assistance, Quality
Enhancement, Coaching, Mentoring, etc Lorie Barnes NCaeyc: VERY
user-friendly approach to public policy and advocacy Jacqueline
Calica: I would also appreciate updates on Special Ed law/policy so
that teachers can help parents advocate jennifer: Kathy, thank you
so much for asking. Very excited to have you part of the naeyc
family! Lorie Barnes NCaeyc: Thanks for this opportunity to offer
input! Sandra Giarde - Calif AEYC: Great topic for the next
comprehensive membership book...very timely! Barbara Backus:
something about super hero play Camille Lachar-Lofaro: info on the
Common Core please Laurel Beckham: Keeping NAEYC Accreditation
appealing in the age of QRIS Tonya Frehner-Illinois: Capitol Area
(Illinois) offers a book club and they would support a sneak peek.
Lorie Barnes NCaeyc: Great idea! Long overdue! Barbara Backus: I
think it is a good idea also Rene Hobbs: yes. more interconnection
between local state and national is needed Camille Lachar-Lofaro:
Definitely on the right track. sueconnor: great idea especially for
states that have more than one affiliate.
Slide 25
Webinar Transcript Research Policy Practice Jenny Yen: Good
idea! But CA folks dislike the term "component". : ) Barbara
Backus: is it possible to get hotel reservations at yet? Melissa
(VT): Will there be a "staff" meeting at the conference as well? Do
we know when that might be?
