Communication in the 21st Century Description
How we communicate reflects on our business acumen, character, though leadership, professionalism, and our respect
for those with whom we communicate. Besides spoken conversations, most of our communication leaves a permanent
mark. Consider the different ways in which we communicate in writing: email, typed correspondence, website content,
texting, news releases, notes in files, blogging, articles, meeting notes and agendas, newsletters, and so on. It's
important to know not only how to avoid common blunders in your written communication but how to use this
communication to gain respect, improve relationships, and advance in your career. This session presents exactly the
type of soft skills that will help bridge the communication gap between generations.

Excel Macros ‐ Automating Your Workflow with Visual Basic for Applications (Part 2) Description
Excel Macros are powerful. Why? Because they’re really Visual Basic—a full‐featured programming language. VBA or
Visual Basic for Applications is a subset of the application Visual Basic with specific objects and actions added to take
advantage of an application’s built‐in functions and features. By using the features built into Excel with Visual Basics for
Applications we can simply automate our routine work or create full‐featured applications for performing complex tasks
through simple menus and input boxes. Become familiar with the 12‐step process for thinking through and automating
involved jobs in Excel, automate repetitive procedures, prompt for user action, prevent errors from occurring, and open,
create and close other files. With the Visual Basic Editor you will learn to use the ActiveCell object in Excel Macros to get

and change information in Excel. You’ll learn the “S‐I‐S” technique for selecting a changing data range. After this session
you can start automating your long routine jobs with Excel macros.
You will receive instruction for making macros interactive, creating message and input boxes, creating IF statements to
perform conditional loops when working with data. You know how to find coding errors and correct then by using VBA
debugging techniques. Excel is one of the best tools for building very sophisticated programs since it already has great
features for summarizing data and data analysis. With VBA, Excel can be used as the “engine” for creating some of the
most advanced applications with the least amount of programming time.
